Do you love games? Do you love books? Well, then, does the ALA (American Library Association) have an event for you! This Saturday, November 15th, is National Gaming Day at (possibly) your local library. Video games and board games are on the docket, and when you've been blue shelled out of the Mario Kart competition, check out some books! I hear libraries are full of them these days.

In the 21st century, libraries are about much more than books! In fact, libraries work very hard to provide patrons of all ages with a rich and current menu of CDs and DVDs, as well as electronic and online resources. Video game resources and programs at the library actually complement these existing services. Featuring this new gaming media helps the library expand its reach while meeting community expectations.Watch out when playing Halo; I hear librarians are notorious campers.

My local libraries aren't participating. I guess they don't want our element in there for any longer than it takes to check out a miscellaneous sci-fi/fantasy book we reserved online.

There's a library about an hour away from me participating, but unfortunately, I have other plans Saturday that don't involve playing video games at a library.

I wonder if you're required to be really quiet while playing.

The library I work at isn't participating.....probably because it's a University library and not a public library.

My local library is smaller than my living room. I donate most of my books after I've read them with just the slim hope that they will have to expand in 2020.

Our previous one was four stories. I miss it.

I can't imagine my local libraries here will be participating. Just for laughs I'll have to phone them and ask...
