View Full Version : Video Editing

Fairly soon I'm going to be starting an application for an upcoming internship. Part of this application requires me to make a short video, and the prompt I have chosen is "Something I do for fun."

So, the premise of the video is going to be driving down to the gas station that I usually go to to get a drink and I'll provide commentary about my life in the town and why I drive to relax. Most of this will be pretty basic and I'll just be able record and then submit.

However, as I provide commentary, I'd like to squeeze in various pictures (like when I mention my hometown, I'd like to indicate where it actually is on a map, these kinds of things.)

So I'm asking one of two things:

1) If anybody has some very user friendly software that I could use to produce a decent result or

2) If somebody that does video editing for fun would mind helping me out with this project. I'd like to say "it's not going to be very intensive", but I'm not really sure what goes into these kinds of things.

Assistance?

Shoot me an email, nabokovfan87@gmail.com

I can edit or point you toward software to use. Just want to know a bit more about what you want and so forth, whether you already have everything recorded and the pictures you want inserted, etc. It is super easy to cut a break and then insert the pic.

If you want to see some of what I have edited hit up youtube either the nabokovfan87 or damnitslam usernames.

I have done quite a bit of editing in my time, but don't have any software on my home PC. If you'd like, I can take a look at the finished video and give any pointers or tips if it needs cleaned up a bit.

From what you've describes, Windows live movie maker would be more than enough and is extremely easy. Free and capable is blender

Bah, buy yourself a full Avid system. Make this the highest quality going to the gas station documentary ever.

Yeah, it might be a terrible idea. I've always enjoyed commentary videos though, so I'm not entirely sure. I'm open to suggestions!

I'm not even sure what kind of camera I should use. I don't really have the money to run out and buy a $400 camera for this project. I have a webcam, but it doesn't even shoot in 720p, so not sure if that'd be a good thing to setup. I've checked into other webcams, and I could get a HD one for around $50 IIRC. Not too high of a price for such a project, I suppose.
