Tied to the much-anticipated release of its striking new album "The New Game" — due out November 18 via Epic — the multi-million-selling band has announced the launch of "The New Game", a new interactive fan contest.

Bringing together the gaming and the music world, MUDVAYNE are taking fan relationships to the next level, by creating a unique and immersive experience with "The New Game" which reaches across many media channels. Beginning the day of release, fans will find the following items inside their album packaging to play the game: a unique code number they will need to register on Mudvayne.com, 11 mugshot photos of different suspects and the full back-story on the situation involving each suspect. To solve the mystery by eliminating one suspect each week, fans must use the full album packaging including: lyrics for the new album; the mugshots and information on each suspect included in the packaging; their historical knowledge of MUDVAYNE; and the video for "Do What You Do" (which premieres and airs all day on MTV2 Monday, November 10 as well as MTV2.com), along with weekly clues revealed at www.mudvayne.com (http://www.mudvayne.com). This innovative marketing approach enables fans to discover the music in a brand new way.

The grand-prize winner will claim a MUDVAYNE "VIP Laminate for Life." A lucky runner-up will receive a Washburn signed guitar and 10 additional runners up will receive signed copies of "The New Game" deluxe edition CD, which includes expanded artwork and packaging. All copies of "The New Game" will contain the code needed to play, as well as a free one-year fan club membership giving them first access to ticket on-sales and other exclusive opportunities. The full lists of rules will be found here (http://www.mudvayne.com/officialrules) as of November 18, 2008. Now this is a very interesting and exciting way to get people to buy your actual album. I was just going to go through the amazon mp3 store like usual for this one but now I may actually get the cd....this sounds like it could be fun. Who wouldn't want a VIP Pass for life to see an awesome band?
