Hello Monday, you weekend killer. Bringing joy to the beginning of the weekday once again. My Monday might of been Sunday since I spent most of it sick. I think Spigot sent some virus and infected me. Thanks, my friend. Despite the paper writing weekend and being under the Spigot flu, I had some fun playing around with:
Dead Space- I'm loving this game. Although the pace I'm playing it will be February before I finish. No matter, it's still a fun game. I think playing in small increments is the best way to play it. I'm not sure if I would want to do more than that. I just wish I could do a chapter at a time, which is about how much I can play then look for something else.
Gears Of War 2- The surprise of my weekend. I never played the first GOW. I don't play these types of games, so I didn't play Halo, nor do I play Call of Duty. Multiplayer online? I played some for GTA IV for a bit then I was back to my single game playing again. So I'm saying this from the perspective, I'm a noob in all ways possible when it come to GOW 2 and it's online play. I loved it. And I didn't even get a chance to play with friends. Playing this I know what everyone is talking about playing online about. Horde mode I found to be the most fun. I also tried different matchmaking games, which also was a blast. Although since I'm awful, I got told in various ways how I suck. No matter...I do. But I still had fun killing a few others before I would be brought down. If I wasn't so under the weather yesterday, I would of been on for a few hours again. This might be the first game I may not play the single campaign in.
GOW 2 Lancer- I'm not sure how many of you were crazy enough to buy the special edition GOW 2, the one if you buy the Lancer, you get the game free? I was surprised when I got mine on Friday. And thanks to Rini and Ms. Claus, it works like it should. I had some fun walking around with this giant lancer annoying people. Although Ms. Claus found better use for it, by scaring me a few time with it. Let's just say it is a very loud toy. I'm curious if anyone else was crazy enough to order one..besides Rini...I know hers is coming in soon...we want pics, Rini.
So what did you play?

I played a lot of Gears multi on release night. Other than that, I've been playing tons of WoW. My Tauren Druid is 60 now, and I became exalted with Orgimmar and tried earning 30 marks in the shit fest that is Alterec Valley (my battle group apparently never wins). I quit after 9, and now I'm going to keep leveling.
For the record, I had the Lancer pre-ordered, but I needed the money for more important things (a very important Kat's birthday), so it fell by the wayside. Actually, it appears the order is still on and they keep sending me emails about them not being able to finish the order. That would be because I have a new debit card and never updated that order!

I've played lots of Gears of War 2. Coop split screen and over Xbox live. I'm really loving this game!

Started and finished Gears 2. Excellent. I also found some time for Dead Space. I'm currently on my second playthrough trying to buy and upgrade every weapon. This still might be my GOTY, but the competition is tough :)
In addition to those titles I continued my journey through Africa in Far Cry 2. There's soo much I love about that game, but I can't help getting annoyed by the random encounters during the driving sequences. I hate them, the same way I hate them in JRPGs.

All Gears 2 for me. Got to play some Horde mode with some of the other CoGers, and just finished co-oping the campaign today! Santa, you definitely need to join in the Horde action with us... we're much nicer than the other jerks on LIVE.
And I'm still waiting on the Lancer! It's supposed to come tomorrow, but I'm not sure if it'll actually get here on time. I'm planning on taking a bunch of pictures of myself chainsawing things, but I can't figure out what I want to pretend-chainsaw first. Too bad I don't know anyone else who got it who lives around here... we could've had an "Epic" chainsaw battle!

Get it? As in Epic Games?Sorry, no. Just no (http://sadtrombone.com). :(
I got in a little Fallout 3 and Fable 2, but also went demo-hunting on XBL. I'll probably buy Schizoid with my next check. And Portal on PC, so I can get the Still Alive and other mods for free.

finally started to get into fallout 3. i was worried i wouldn't be able to stop, but Left 4 dead, Gears 2 and little big planet managed to steal some spotlight as well. Snuck in a tad of age of conan and started playing world of warcraft (yes, started)
all in all, fun weekend :)

LBP local 4-player with friends. Best multiplayer couch game with beers since Powerstone 2.
Finshed Fable 2 as a holy man. Shame it actually makes the game less fun afterwards. Retry it as evil as soon as possible.

I played a lot of Fable 2 and a little Far Cry 2 this weekend. My Fable hero is quite the hallowed saint, although his wife divorced him and he ended up with glowing red eyes somehow. They don't really go with his halo, but look awesome with the handlebar mustache. I think he's having an identity crisis.

A good portion of Resistance 2. I think I'm on the last level now, I really want to see how things turn out. So far there have been some excellent levels in the game, Chicago in particular. The Leviathan fight is a bit of a letdown, though.
I got a little bit of LBP in, but not as much as I would've liked. I aced a few more levels, so now I think I have everything in the first 4 "worlds" aced. Now comes the hard ones....
FFXI got a bit of time too, all solo. I did 2 more quests and started 2 more. I'm nearly done with the San d'Oria storyline in the past, I'm on the last quest there now. I should be able to solo it, but 2 tries so far have both led to me eating dirt. I think I see what I'm doing wrong, so I'll try again later on.

Fable 2. I'm playing this one as an opportunistic, self-serving bastard than out and out evil or good. Although I have to admit I found myself trying to do right by my kid, even if that means putting up with that bitch of a mother of his.
Left 4 Dead demo. I was getting a little tired of this, until I ramped up the difficulty and it became a whole different game. The lulls are creepier, the action far more intense. Can't wait 'til it's officially released tomorrow and I can finally pester my RL friends to try it out with me.

Quite a lot fable 2, and a little fallout 3. Will probably finish fable 2 before starting to play fallout seriously. And then I really should finish dead space, and get GoW2.. gah, why did they have to release all these games at the same time. :/

All Fallout 3, all the time. Any free moment I had was spent wandering the wasteland. I did restart the game, as I think I spread out my skills a bit too much. Having more fun this time around.

Finished my first round of Dead Space (very impressed). Put in a bit of time into Fallout 3, Saints Row 2 and EVE Online. Discovered that Guitar Hero: World Tour sucks and subsequently played a ton of Rock Band 2. Yesterday I went through one level of single player of the Left 4 Dead Demo.

A lot of local co-op Rock Band 2 and Little Big Planet. Me and two of my friends also made a small LAN and played C&C 3, UT3, and Warcraft 3. (Lot of 3s)
As predicted, I had some downtime Sunday evening and I was able to finish up MGS4. Amazing game, amazing series, great ending I thought.
Now I just have to finish Okami on the Wii and my backlog will be cleared up! Then it's onto Fallout 3.

I played a little bit of Fable II, and a bit of Chrono Trigger. Got kinda pissed at Chrono Trigger because I was finishing up some sidequests at the end of an old save, and lost about ten minutes of play because my SNES' adapter is plugged into a crappy power strip which has two outlets that don't really hold what's plugged into them very well, and the adapter must of slipped a bit and cut power to the console. I also played some SSBB.

Fable 2: in and out of the spire (You'll never break me!), now forging onward towards the end, wish the bounty hunter and rescue slaves missions wouldn't pop so frequently, I just cant let those evil bandits have their way.
GoW 2: only a little bit, worms on boats. Trying to finish Fable 2 so I can clear space and install Gears to the hd (one unreadable disc error whilst playing already and the main reason I wanted NXE so I could avoid the disc drive)
Fallout 3: I had to start again due to the deaths of certain characters, so I'm only back to level 6 (and due to one of those mentioned 'lack of' deaths I don't have my trusty chinese assault rifle and am using just a normal assault rifle.
Star Ocean 1: only a couple of hours in, people are turning to stone. I must save them!
X3 Terran Conflict: flying around looking for combat missions. Had a cool one where I had to defend a solar farm from a couple of waves of pirates who wanted protection money. I really need to make a quick two million and upgrade to a M3 ship :)
WAR: My Bright Wizard is a twisted firestarter, didn't melt as many faces as I should have this weekend, I wish more scenarios than just Serpent's Passage would pop.

A ton of Fallout 3 (lvl 6: Very Evil, Pirate of the Wastes) and a fair bit of Order of Ecclesia.
Both are very awesome. I am especailly pleased that I am enjoying Fallout 3 so much, as I was a naysayer and was not enjoying the early levels. I hit I think lvl 4 and I have been loving it ever since, awesome game. So awesome, in fact, that I didn't even touch Far Cry 2 this weekend.

As I was suffering from the flu yesterday, I only played about an hour of Valkyria Chronicles before having to go back to bed and shudder and shake for the rest of the day.
Fever dreams - they're awesome!
I did play a goodly amount of games on Saturday though. I sunk some serious playtime into Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia and Gears 2. But yeah... not a lot of gaming this weekend for me, alas. I'm feeling better today, so I might saunter downstairs and try some more Gears or Valkyria if my headache goes away :)

More of The Witcher.
Didn't get a chance to start much on Mass Effect as I was trying to troubleshoot a video issue with The Witcher. I had little red floating artifacts all over the screen. I was checking my GPU temperature and fan speeds, checking my new E8400 and my motherboard temperatures and fan speeds. I knocked my graphics settings back to minimal to see if I was over extending my graphics card in case it was starting to crap out on me.
Checked the Witcher forums to see if it was a common issue. Lots of ATI problems, but the Nvidia 8800GT seemed to be free of issues on the forum.
I finally found a posting that described my particular problem...
...I had used too many potions and Geralt was showing side effects of toxicity. I rested and everything was fine. I had read about the toxicity issue, but I was expecting something more like the drunkenness video effects.
There went and hour or two! :o
Also helped my wife with the HTML for her final website for her HTML class.

Friday night I spent with my niece and nephew, always some good fun as they are at the cute stage and when they get cranky or smelly or snotty I can hand them back to my sister and brother-in-law. After that I went home and played some Fallout 3. Single player RPGs are going to have a tough time matching the awesomeness and depth of this game.
On Saturday I played a bunch of Fallout 3 again. I did play a run through of Left 4 Dead. I am liking the game but I think part of the problem is it's too easy and each experience isn't all THAT different. I think I will ramp up the difficulty to see how that's going.
Sunday was a little different, I went out with a buddy of mine. His family was having a board game day and we played Mutant Chronicles (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mutant_Chronicles). Has anyone ever played this? It's pretty awesome. After that it was back to normal and I played more Fallout 3. I've put in 40 hours and I about as evil as they come. I just hit level 16 last night before bed, I can't believe I haven't even touched the main story line yet!

Yeah, that will happen, and I bet you have only scratched the surface.
I never even fucked with special breeding or tournaments and I still have easily over 100 hours with Diamond, more with Fire Red. I really have no interest in finding how much aggregate time I have spent with those games, it would be shameful.

I've been doing a second run through of Fable...focusing almost exclusively on hand-to-hand. My first character was a mage with a gun, now I've got a guy with a really big ax. Very fun!
Also started playing WoW again. Been running daily quests on Quel'danas and really enjoying myself. Probably going to wander into Best Buy next week and grab a copy of Lich King.
Played some more of Frozen Throne...also enjoyable. Kinda fun to see the backstory for the game I've spent so much time on.
Next week I'll dig into Fallout, Gears and Resistance. Nice to have everything so well spaced out this fall...

I finished up Heavenly Sword and then split time pretty evenly between LBP and The Witcher. Still on Chapter 2 of The Witcher, but I have everything aced and 100% collected up to The Temples, so hopefully I can finish most of that up tonight (going to need to bring in some people for the last 4x).
I may have to dive into actually building levels soon since I'm *almost* done with what's on the disk.

Well, at least you posted it here, so if any of us run into the same issue, then we will have learned from your experience. Very interesting that they included "toxicity" in the game.
My weekend gaming plan went completely out the window. It was purely PC...only touched the Wii to update it...touched the PS3 to watch some movies...and touched the 360 with a Swiffer.
Fallout 3 - Holy crap, just when I think I have something else to do, this game pulls me back in. Just went up to Germantown and dealt with that quest. That was intensely satisfying...so many strategies came to mind when assaulting that place. All I can say is I love my Hunting Rifle :)
King's Bounty - Another game that features that "just a little further" gameplay. Haven't gotten very far yet, just venturing further and further away from the castle. Exciting news is that I just bought a boat. Yah, they aren't expensive, but that is the one thing that I remember most about the original King's Bounty, jumping in your boat and motoring around :)
Left4Dead - Connectivity issues seem to be a thing of the past with the new Steam and Left4Dead patches that have been released. Had a few fun runs, though I'm still having a lot of games where I'm "that guy". You know, the "guy" who is always getting swarmed, spat on, tongue tied, wrestled... :(

Decided last week that I might finally be kinda over video games but this weekend...I GOTTA GO BUY GEARS NOW. So I ended up playing some of the campaign and having a ball. May look into multiplayer before too long.
Also, bought the new version of Risk as it was on sale at Target for $15 and again realized it's 3-5 players. Crap. Still glad I got it, though.

If you are a lifer you will have slumps, but will never fall out completely.

How is that game? I've heard bits and pieces about it here and there, but nothing too concrete on it.
The basic gist of it is you use a magic talking shovel to dig and create your own dungeon to attract a wide variety of monsters. You can purchase rooms to populate it (beds, feeding stables, etc.) which, when you return the next day, you can fight them. To move to the next floor, you are required to have a certain number of monsters in a current floor to attract [and defeat] a boss monster.
As they only drop gold and items, leveling up is done by eating. There are recipes out there that can increase various stats (HP, defense, etc.). A nice touch is that after clearing the first floor, you get a slime companion that can mimic defeated monsters to take a part of their body for its own use. For example, it can take a crowbat's head to maybe boost HP and learn a pecking attack, another monster's arms that may allow it to equip shields, and so forth. I've been enjoying the game since I started playing it.

Due to my "Spigot flu", I got some more gaming in extending my "weekend". Finally able to dive into Dead Space and plenty happy with it. Everyone was right, it does get less scary, even for a wuss like myself. I was kinda sad about that. But still lots of "oh F***" moments when monsters suddenly are behind you. One in particular I only knew was behind me because of the giant looking claw that was suddenly in my face...but it is creepy...great atmosphere...and the plot, well...It's engaging enough where it makes it worthwhile to find all the audio and written diaries. My only dislike so far is when Issac has to play Star Wars gunner...suddenly shooting at "stuff"...which totally blows...unless I get an invite to GOW 2, i'm going to try to finish this off since i'll be stuck home tomorrow with my "Spigot Flu".
I kicked it old school this weekend. Dragon Force on the Saturn and a little SNES College Slam on the PSP via emulator sprinkled with a few other games I pulled out of the closet.

Fallout 3. It's been slow going because my computer can barely run it playably, so I've barely scratched the surface, but man, what I've seen so far is pretty damn awesome. I just discovered Vault 106 last night, and while the effect was a little dulled I suspect because of the hardware limitations, I was still totally floored, and it reminded me a lot about what made some of the dungeons in Oblivion so cool. It's amazing what just a touch of backstory and a few little touches can do to turn a simple dungeon into genuine suspense.
I've also been playing instant action matches in Puzzle Quest here and there, just to pass the time. I can't bring myself to play the actual story mode again, it's just too long, and gets too tedious, and I've already been through a good section of it.

i'll be stuck home tomorrow with my "Spigot Flu".You must not have gotten it nearly as bad as I did if you could actually play games yesterday. I fired up Valkyria Chronicles but could only handle about an hour of keeping my eyes focused on something before the pain in my head made me stop.
Today was a bit better as I feel more like an arthritic 75 year old instead of the half dead 90 year old yesterday. As I haven't been back at work yet, I did get a good chunk of Gears 2 finished today, though I had to finally stop and play something a little less... energetic. I sunk some more time into PA: Ep 2 and while I'm liking it, some of the obtuse fetch quests are starting to piss me off... and I like fetch quests!

Just means i'm a tougher gamer is all...you wuss :D:eek:. Actually I gave up after 3 hours of Dead Space and then collapsed. Then when awakened from my coma, I just picked up again. I did see you online, and I thought you might be playing GOW 2. I almost sent you an invite but I didn't think I could handle being chainsawed, and I really want to finish Dead Space anyway. Hopefully today...

I put it down again right after I finished with the "Star Wars" inspired part of Dead Space: battle of the Asteroids. Fucking developers. That's easily the weakest part of the game. I don't have a problem with turret sequences in games but the one in Dead Space is pretty broken.
I did see you online, and I thought you might be playing GOW 2. I almost sent you an invite but I didn't think I could handle being chainsawed, and I really want to finish Dead Space anyway. Hopefully today...I was actually worried I'd be inundated with invites while I was on yesterday but thankfully everyone left me alone. I just wanted to do the SP stuff. Good luck on finishing Dead Space though. You've got about 8 hours or so to go if you're just finishing chapter 4.
I haven't played any of the PA episodes yet...any good?As a big fan of Penny Arcade, I quite like both episodes, though there are times where the swearing is just gratuitous, though thankfully it's all in text so I don't have to worry about my kids picking up even MORE colourful language.
The fetch quests are a little ridiculous but they make fun of that aspect of the game in the writing so I'll forgive them. This time... That said, they're both pretty solid RPGs and the fact that they don't take a tonne of time to finish is nice.

Today was a bit better as I feel more like an arthritic 75 year old instead of the half dead 90 year old yesterday.
Welcome to my world!
Had physical therapy for my shoulder yesterday (Rotator-cuff surgery in Sept.). They beat me with rubber hoses, switched to baseball bats (Hickory; none of the new-fangled Aluminium crap!) and then finished me off with shock batons.
I'm feeling better! :D
But still a bit sore.

Was going to try LBP to see if the servers fixed the super laggy online with my friends but then everyone had moved to Gears 2 so that's all I played. I did all 50 waves of the horde with friends and it was a blast.
