May be worth waiting it out. I have a feeling they are going to somehow consolidate everything so you don't need to choose a particular server.

They got hammered this weekend, brought a ton of new servers online and their blog post seems to say that they are working on a proper solution.

For now, I would just choose one of the servers and run with it. You can still create games with friends and they'll find it.

Starting today, the servers should be fairly fast throughout. They will be restarting every 8 hours while I fix a crawling slowness issue.

I’ll be making an announcement later about my plans to go from this plaster solution to a full solution.

May be an issue with the fractured servers over the weekend. At the time, you could request a game, but the other player couldn't find it without the server being known.

For now, I suggest Texas Server 4 to send a game from...just because...I don't know, it's the one I was using ;)

Hopefully, in the next day or 2 we can forget about the different servers and just play normally.

Agreed. We might as well acknowledge Texas4 as "the CoG server", given how many games biosc1 and I have played there.

As for the other games you've started, SlyMarbo, well, it's PBeM. It's meant to be asynchronous and its hard to complain if it takes a few days sometimes. I do know though that at least some CoGgers from the IRC mentioned just taking a few days off until all the server issues are fixed.

I do think it'd be a good idea for you to be able to invite someone to a game without taking the first turn -- that's a "lot" of work to put in without knowing if the other player will accept or not.

You don't have to make a move. I can challenge you, which creates the game, then it asks if "I want to go there". I can say no and go back at another time.

That stuff is per server, still. I was 3rd best player of the day briefly, on Texas4 - a server we chose specifically because it was the least populous.

Here is one Sly Marbo and I played out. It was going to be tough because it was purely machine guns. I was dead half a dozen times, but used a variation of ducking and baiting his guys to let my guys get the shots off.

They didn't die, but I feel pretty helpless being a move behind. Them not being dead is one thing. But no advancement on them feels wrong.

Anyway to up the map size, shape forms, and number of plays?

You can play with the custom settings...you can challenge someone to a custom game, etc...
