It might be a little while before the link shows up in the bar at the top of network pages, but it's still fairly official. Video game music site Rainwave (http://rainwave.cc) -- created and maintained by CoG member LiquidRain -- is now a full-fledged member of the CoG Network, joining sister sites Co-Optimus (http://www.co-optimus.com/), Immortal Machines (http://www.immortalmachines.com/), Play It Review It (http://www.playitreviewit.com/), and podcasts In-Game Chat (http://www.ingamechat.net/) and Johnny Gigawatt and the Tiger Men from Mars (http://www.johnnygigawatt.com/).

For those not familiar with Rainwave (http://rainwave.cc), you're in for a treat. It's a service that streams video game music 24/7. You have your choice; either original music straight from an extensive selection of games, or an equally enormous selection of video game remixes originating from the OverClocked Remix (http://www.ocremix.org/) library. In fact, coinciding with Rainwave's addition to the CoG Network is the news that Rainwave's remix stream is now OCR Radio: the official radio stream for OverClocked Remix.

So, welcome Rainwave (http://rainwave.cc) into the fold! It's been a personal favorite of mine for some time, and it's a very welcome addition to the network.

I'm pretty proud of this. :) (and yes I intend on replacing that ugly logo soon - Spectre-7 made me something quite a bit better...) I'd like to thank bap, Fox, and all the other founders for letting my site be a part. :)

Awesome stuff! Always felt that Rainwave would be an excellent edition to the COG network, and now it's here!

Rainwave has been nearly constant background for me since I heard about it. I'm glad it's officially part of the Colony.

It needs more C64 tunes though :)

I suppose I should go into a bit more detail about Rainwave, but I didn't want to take up too much room in the OP.

Some of the features that makes Rainwave unique is that fact that you can submit requests for upcoming songs from the extensive available playlist, register a rating for every song you've listened to, and also vote for songs sitting in the queue.

The voting itself is one of the most unique features. As one song plays, a selection of three potential "next" songs is displayed. Everyone listening can click on the song they want to have play next. The selection with the most votes will end up getting played.

And just like Mr. Murphy says, this service (most often the OCR Radio side) is a constant companion for me. In fact, I'm listening to it right now! :D

Awesome. I've been listening to Rainwave for a while and it's good to see all your hard work on it being rewarded Liquid. :)

You'll be getting your wish when we launch a 3rd station that's going to include a lot of C64 and Amiga remixes. :)

And thanks for all the compliments!

It's also worth mentioning that Vyzov helps a lot with the playlist. It's not ALL me.

Fantastic news! Actually, I'd been meaning to ask why Rainwave wasn't already part of the network, and now here it is. I don't think I could imagine a better addition. :D

Somehow I'd managed to not check Rainwave out before today. How?

I like it.

Yay Liquid!

I remember people saying Rainwave should be part of the CoG network when we made the jump and I'm glad it's happened.

I think I'm doing something wrong. I registered, clicked to tune in which then opened up itunes and from there it keeps telling me that I must be tuned in to request anything. Is it because I'm on a mac? This seems exceptionally cool and I'd love to check it out.

Read the help page - iTunes doesn't play our stream. The help page has a link to FStream, an app that will play Rainwave for you. :)

Y'know, I feel bad in saying that I'd completely forgotten about this. Kinda sad, I know... :( That said; very cool stuff. Just, y'know, YouTube that instructional video, Liq. I mean, it's 2008. ;)

/edit: Also, have you considered going 'Rainwave Radio' for the CoG banner?

I've only been able to get the feeds to work in Winamp, no luck with iTunes, QuickTime or Windows Media Player.

I've only been able to get the feeds to work in Winamp, no luck with iTunes, QuickTime or Windows Media Player. It's an ogg vorbis (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ogg_vorbis) stream, and few players support it natively. Anything other than Winamp requires a plug-in of some sort.

There's recommended players for just about everything in the Help page if you're having issues. :) If your work blocks port 8000, I also have port 8080 working for the audio stream, which hopefully your work won't block.

And if you think the intro video needs to be YouTubed, the codec/bitrate on YouTube is too low and makes the video hard to read, not to mention it's not a standard 4:3 frame so it's even more squished. :(

Thanks for all the kind words!

i'm enjoying this quite a bit....but my slow ass connection forces it to buffer every 2 - 3 minutes which is rather annoying.
