The idea for this thread is that if someone wants to play Terraria multiplayer and hook up with some CoG buddies, you can post here and then others can find you and get some co-op going. For example:

Me and CappinCanuck are about to try some Terraria multiplayer, contact us on Steam and we can get some group chat/gamin' going!

P.S. Until they release the Steam-based server system, you will likely need Hamachi to conveniently play multiplayer; at least, that's what I and some others have been using.

I'll be down tonight, I got a chance to try this out and lunch and I think I love this game. Building my first house was a bitch, but once you don't have to worry about zombies and slimes, it really opens up.

So since it's side-scrolling is there only one plane? You can go left/right, up/down, but not into and out of the screen?

Correct...this is the Rogue Squadron to Minecraft's MS Flight Sim. All the basics are there, but it's more action and things just progress faster. The crafting is simplified too, if you have the mats, you can make the object.

Your character persists between any server or SP map you want to join. Just jump in and have fun.

All right, Terraria fans, you know the drill. I'll have the server running from a few minutes ago until, well, I could be convinced to let it run while I'm away at work, but perhaps that's not so wise; so definitely for the next 3-4 hours! The Hamachi and server details are the same as always, so, if you don't already have 'em, just contact me via Steam or someone else who knows for the numbers 'n' letters.

So what's involved in hosting a Terraria server without Hamachi these days? Does the server client tell me what IP address to advertise? Just worried I can't do it because I'm behind a router.

The IP is your actual IP and the port to open should be 7777


That's what it is for me when I host games.

I actually like the idea of having a dedicated, giant, new world. Keep it :D I'll still host mine from time to time.

Checked out the server yesterday morning. Think I'll work in single player a bit until I can get appropriate stuff to check out that chunk of corruption to the left of the start point. :)
