So, anyone in New York City? I just booked two tickets from Dec. 31st-Jan. 6th, with me and my long time friend who are both graduating mid December. I guess you could easily call this a graduation trip!

Anyway, he is part of a website called couch-surfing, where people offer up their couches for you to sleep on, and will be looking for kind souls who will help us out with sleeping accommodations. I felt like maybe I could call out to the CoG community, and see if there is anyone in NYC that wouldn't mind letting us sleep on your floor for a night or so. We are hip-cats, and we'll do your dishes!

Since we will likely be out and about all day, its honestly just about a period of 6 or 7 hours when its dark. You wont even notice we're there.

You can do alot of damage in 6-7 hours...especially what you can find in NYC :). I wish I still was there...I would of gladly loaned you a floor. What are you planning to do when there?

Probably lots of walking around, I know I want to go to the Natural History Museum, and just see what the place is like. I went there a few years ago with my mom and little brother, but they didn't want to walk around all day like we plan to, so I was only there for a few hours, and they rushed me through the museums. I plan on taking my time.

Walking around is the best. Soak it all up. And walk around places that aren't found by tourists. Just walk and find. So much you can do just doing that. Hope you find that floor...

I believe Random51, FoodNipple and DoctorFinger all live there, but I'm not sure if they'd be cool with you and your friend being there, with you being a typical Michael and all.

I guess we can always sleep on park benches.

Now there is a NYC experience! Nothing like being a homeless person in NY:eek:

Are you looking to be in Manhattan only for borrowed living quarters...or will you *gasp* look to another borough to find floor space? I might be able to convince a crazy family member to take you in...

Unfortunately my living conditions at the moment don't allow for any further couch crashing. Sorry.

I have a friend in Brooklyn I might be able to stay with for a night, so I am up for any consideration.

There's no Hostels or anything of that nature in the area to crash in for pennies? I know my friends who traveled became big fans of Hostel living and it was always quite cheap.

Very few hostels in NYC anymore.

I've only just begun looking into it all, I was also going to ask if anyone knew of any good hostels.

Ms. Claus just said she's not sure she would want to allow me to subject my family on CoG gamers...see she really does care about the community :). But i'm going to broach the subject...they aren't really that bad...i'll start asking soon...

Edit: You could ask about anyone in North New Jersey. It's pretty close to NYC and actually almost easier to get from there than from some of the boroughs...thought I give you more options...

Getting this to the top, cause so far I'll either by staying with my moms the whole time, 45 minutes away from NYC, or sleeping under newspapers!

You could just get a hotel, you know. If you stay outside Manhattan, but near a train station it's almost as good.

Well, it would kind of break with the whole couch-surfing idea then.

I thought the park bench and newspapers idea wasn't a bad choice.

They would sort of be the city's couch, plus you at least get some reading material. :p

ADD has resurrected the idea of asking my family if you can borrow their futon. It's a full furnished basement even with a bar :). Let's see if ADD can sweet talk her way into a yes...check back later in the week when she'll be asking...
