I think it might be a good idea to have a section devoted to IRL meetups, whether they be weekly, monthly or annually. It could be broken up into sub-areas based on geographic location. That way there would be an easy place to say "hey, this is going on here at whatever time" and people could come.

I saw Rogue's PAX Flickr feed, I do not want to meet any of you CHUDs.
Also, I live in Detroit.

I'd be interested in doing a MN meetup someday. I'd have to watch how much I drink though or Mags might try to take me home. ;)
Not sure if we need an entire subforum dedicated to meetups since they don't happen all that often. Just my $.02.

I'm pretty busy on weekends through early December, but we can certainly try something.

A meetup downtown sometime would be fun I think. Are you, Mags, and I the only MN posters here? I can't really think of any others off the top of my head.

KG!
I haven't seen your posts in forever. It's cool you're here. Do you live in Detroit proper or a burb?

Probably something closer to you, but The Harvest Festival at the Ventura County Fairgrounds. I'll be there Friday. I don't think I could pull off E4All, unless someone drove me, as my car is in the shop.

I think there are others, just no names are coming to me at the moment.

Octoberfest in Thousand Oaks would be cooler. Lots of beer and I hear there's a giant hay maze to get drunk and lost in.

I wonder what the community looks like in the Albany/TriCity area. I can't be the only person reppin' this stretch of the Hudson.

If you want a maze, Pierce College has an excellent one right now for Halloween.
Octoberfest would be awesome too.

I don't think there have been enough meetup's in the past to warrant an entire section on the forum, but we can definitely sticky a thread in The Lounge for any upcoming meetup's if you'd like.

It would be fun to have more meetups. Too bad they're probably all quite far from me.
What about a sub-section?

Yeah, that seems like it would be a good spot for that sort of information. Just so people might be able to show up at meetings/arcades/comic shops/gaming shops if they're too shy to post.

Too shy to post, but will meet random strangers in person........brain does not compute.......
I do like the idea of a "meetup thread" being stickied in The Lounge though.

I know a lot of people who lurk forums because they don't feel like they could contribute anything. They might show up a meet ups...

Are there any other folks in Alabama? I know the podcast crew is down near Montgomery, and CaptStu was in B'ham... I think that's about it and we're all still several hours apart.
