What are the modern RPG's that allow for multiplayer? I've been trying to find some beyond the ActionRPG games available now but haven't had any success. I would like to play a modern RPG that isn't a MMO that allows for 1 to 4 (or more) players. The only one I can think of is Neverwinter Nights 2. Are there any others?

EDIT - I've generated this list via Co-Optimus (http://www.co-optimus.com/system.php?id=4&sort=releasedate&direction=ASC&playerComp=%3E%3D&playerNum=2&esrb=%&released=Y&online=on&lan=on&singleplayercontent=on)

You said no MMOs but I'm so excited for Guild Wars 2. :D

I've been clamoring for one myself. I was heartbroken when I heard Dragon Age wasn't going to support multiplayer.

Isn't NW2 an MMO?

Nope, it appears to be a 4 player MP game...

I bought NWN2 on release date almost a decade ago. I still can't get it to run smoothly.

Yes, you can play NWN2 co-op in the campaign. There are also a pile of other modules available and various game modes hosted online.

Since when was five years "almost a decade"? :p

There is a serious lack of co-op RPGs, especially considering that their pen 'n' paper cousins are an inherently co-operative experience. Do MMOs scratch that particular itch for people, or is there just not much interest?

It's possibly a good thing, because if there were plenty of good co-op RPGs, my brother and I wouldn't ever leave our respective bedrooms.

Damn. I remember the day I bought it clearly. Seems so much longer than 5 years. Still, game don't work.

I actually tried to get a NWN1 session going at a recent LAN party only to learn the GoG copies do not work online as they do not provide keys.

They work, you just have to request a key.

I'll check the forums for a location to do so. Thanks.
