So I’m trying something different this week. This experiment is because of my upcoming finals – or maybe because I’m lazy. I haven’t decided yet. Either way, below is a very short blurb about a very short game. This shouldn’t be too huge of a shakeup, just less words… which might not be such a bad thing. Anyway, here goes:

Adam Atomic has made some awesome games. He’s the developer behind Canabalt and SteamBirds (http://www.colonyofgamers.com/cogforums/showthread.php?t=16268), among others. Grave Robbers is a minuscule flash game of his that he doesn’t even link to from his website. Imagine if you would a crude, 2d Dungeon Keeper/Tecmo’s Deception with a heavy touch of twitch to it. You take the role of treasure defender, and it is your task to use traps to smoosh, drown, burn, or otherwise slay the grave robbers descending into your lair. Each trap on the screen corresponds to a key on the keyboard – an interesting control scheme, I thought. The real trick is being able to keep at least a corner of your eye on every bit of the screen at once. Whatever you do though, it won’t be long till you're smashing your keyboard in vain. The grave robbers go from trickle to flood fairly quickly.
Long story short, Grave Robbers is crude and quick, but a lot of fun. It’s worth a few minutes.
