Violence solves everything at the following link (http://www.ingamechat.net/audio/IGC20110407.mp3).
We have an exceptionally long episode on offer today, but it's one we think well worth our efforts. The conversation is a little out-of-date, there being a lot of "I wonder blah blah blah about Portal 2" sorts of talk which makes little sense in a "What did you think about Portal 2?" kind of world. There's no griping about ARGs or countdowns to countdowns, either. Much of last week's kerfuffle was yet unknown. We'll approach it all in time, though. Mere hours, in fact. I hope I can remember how angry I was supposed to have been.

iTunes isn't working either. You guys haven't done this in so long you forgot how it works! :p
I forgot to state my actual problem, it shows up but doesn't download.

It's alright. This is the first thing I've typed in the last two days that wasn't influenced by Vicadin (I had a good amount of dental work done on Tuesday.)

Firstly, this being posted "today" made my shift awesome! I'm a third shift security guard and spend a lot of time driving in circles in an exceptionally stupid truck. Getting to listen to IGC (among other podcasts) while I do so is one of the few consolations. Great podcast, just wish you guys recorded more...
Secondly, thanks a lot, I already wanted to upgrade my PC... now I have to. It's impossible not to catch that enthusiasm listening to you guys talk about building and how cheap it is these days. Admittedly, with my bills it'll be a handful of months before I can do it properly but damned if I won't have a new PC before the summer's out.
Lastly, in addition to sharing a first name with Matt, I seem to share a birthday with his dog. This does not a happy man make.

Dude, I built a brand new box in September and all this talk of upgrades made me want to do it again too. It's a weird bug that bites whenever it gets discussed or someone else is doing it with their rig.
Upgraditis or whatever.

Bulldozer is calling.... Honestly the only upgrading you should do is a new GPU or an SDD, other then that the benefit is very slim.
I apologize for all of the AC:B talk.

There are in fact worse things to share a birthday with than a dog. What breed is she anyway?

Very nice, if I ever get another dog it's going to be a smaller dog like that. Maybe a Corgi. My last dog was a Mastiff... good dog but when the 150lb mastiff doesn't want to move it can be interesting.

I got two cats, one is fat, the other is a Siamese and they like playing chicken like cars do when they notice each other from opposite sides of my condo. Yeah... the condo owner we're renting from won't allow dogs. Anyhow, you guys want me to live update my PC build next year? Probably not, and I wouldn't blame you, but don't be suprised if I tweet asking for opinions on hardware.

Quick question: how far should I fast-forward for the AC2 spoilers? I'm perpetually on the verge of starting the game, so I figure I should try to avoid while I can.

I keep forgetting to comment! It was massively interesting to hear the build from the other side. Everything runs great; my card hasn't ticked over 89ºC (games or FurMark), and I believe it's rated for much, much higher than that. I don't have anything that'll tax it too much, but it runs Metro 2033 maxed out like that.
I did do it by myself, but in all fairness I had a video of someone building a PC running in the background to serve as a guide of where to go next. Everything's so dummy-proof now that as long as I knew what I wanted to do, it was really easy to grab the instruction booklets and figure everything out. If I had had a serious problem, though, I would've been SOL. :)

I'm not sure we spoil anything for AC2. We've all played it so I don't think we go in depth on anything and I know we stay away from spoilers for AC:B since not all of us in the group have played it.
Still, tread lightly there cause I honestly can't remember.

I honestly don't think they said anything that would spoil the ending, but I'm not 100% possitive. To tell the truth, it probably wouldn't make any sense to you until you played it anyway.
Psykoboy2

That happens a lot actually. They'll go through some spoiler stuff (Red Dead, for instance), but I am so far away for either playing or finishing what they are talking about that by the time I actually do get around to it, I've already forgotten the spoiler stuff.

Yeah, the spoiler warning came at 2:11:48, and I paused until I got some feedback. To be honest, I'm even paranoid of stuff from mid-game, just because I don't want to be able to piece things together any earlier than I could've just by playing the game (watching the show, whatever). It bugs me.

I don't quite grasp James's commentary on Portal 2 advertisement. He said it himself: they had him (us) at "Portal 2." There is more Portal in Portal 2. We know it, they know it. So, why not focus on advertising the new addition of co-op?
Iron Past
05-08-2011, 09:52 PM
Personally, the ad focus completely killed my hype and I'm now waiting for funds and a good sale to coincide. I didn't even watch any of it, but knowing their focus was on a mode I'll never, ever play... meh.

Well, you missed Amazon's sale of Portal 2 for PC at $30 last week. I'm fund strapped, but I couldn't sniff at that one. As for the co-op, it really is very different, but in a good way. The light bridge puzzles in co-op will make you feel like goddamn Hawking. Minus the disability.

Edit: I said blah, blah, blah down there, but what I really meant is my playtime is too erratic, as is the people I'd play with, to for coop to be of any concern to me. Just ignore that. XD
You know how insanely difficult it would be for me to find someone who's schedule matched up with my shedule to allow them to play a game with me for eight hours? It's pretty damn hard for me to even finish an eight hour game in a decent amount of time by myself, let alone something that would need a schedule like that. I mean, it's one thing to throw in some multiplayer with someone for a bit, but there's only a couple people I'd play a legit story mode with that would require multiple sessions, assuming they even have the game (and they don't have Portal 2), and honestly I'm not always in the mood to play something. That's the reason I never care about coop; taste, funds, timing and schedules have to match with the limited number of people I could play with, but given how people seem to salivate over coop, I can only assume it works out better for others. Maybe I need more friends?
And I know I missed the Amazon/GameStop/Wal-Mart sale, but the money didn't come in in time, otherwise I would have gotten it. :)

Well, there is the superlative singleplayer experience to play. It isn't as if they turned it into a multiplayer only title.

I dunno, I took it as being like the AC:B multiplayer hype. Yeah, that's what they're talking about, but let's see what's actually in the game before passing final judgment. It's not like I ever buy shit Day 1, anyway.
Edit: Thanks for checking it out, Scott. I'll go back in a bit; just finishing up the Bombcast I started in the meantime. I'm assuming the teased trailer talk is inspired by my email, so I'm looking forward to that.

so, the gamestop in the bx has New Vegas on windvd for $20. I'd like to have it on my computer, but i'd rather not worry about a disk. thinking about waiting for steam sale. am i being too nit picky?

I'm pretty sure New Vegas uses Steamworks, you should be able to activate the key then download whenever. But since they are doing more DLC, I don't know if you would rather wait a while longer for a GotY.

I thought I read somewhere that New Vegas is Steamworks because Bethesda hated the cert. process of Games for Windows when they did Fallout 3. Anyway, I agree with Scott: wait for a sale on it. The sales as of late have been more and more aggressive on the bigger titles.

ok, forgive me, but what you jut recorded is that the new and improved missing episode or has that been recorded already?
Psykoboy2
05-22-2011, 12:06 AM
Well, the missing episode is gone. Not coming back. We hate it cause it was like 4 hours of a really good show but we can't get it back. And there's no way we can re-create it. We won't even try.
Thursday night we gathered to record and came to the conclusion that we needed to change how we were doing this. And decided to regroup on Saturday to record.
It's a different environment and will likely have a different sound. We're hoping it's different for the better or at least an easy fix kind of different if need be. We'll have new ways of getting in touch with us and maybe even new ways of joining the show live.
It's all a work in progress though, but you should hear the new episode come Monday. Maybe sooner, but hopefully not later.
Sorry for any confusion there.
