A friend of mine sent this over to me. I don't know if you guys have ever heard of Photosynth (http://photosynth.net/) but it's pretty cool.
From Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Photosynth):
Photosynth is a software application from Microsoft Live Labs and the University of Washington that analyzes digital photographs to build a three-dimensional point cloud of a photographed object. Pattern recognition components compare portions of images to create points, which are then compared to convert the image into a model. Users are able to view and generate their own models using a software tool available for download at the Photosynth website.
Well someone decided that they would take a bunch of screenshots and use Photosynth to map out Megaton (http://photosynth.net/view.aspx?cid=89be4240-6c5b-4b34-8940-50e245ed3f1a&vc=false) from Fallout 3.
You can actually see the bomb in there. It's crazy! I'm trying to see if there is any way for me to participate and contribute my photos of Megaton. If you get enough people in on this it would be pretty interesting to see how much of the wasteland could be remapped. It's silly but fun.
