You're right. I somehow missed yours while moving down the list of names. Oh if only there were an easier way to do this! In any case, it worked when I added you this time....and I see you are playing Pilot Wings. I really liked what I played of it last night; just the first 6 Beginner stages. I also just completed the first Grand Prix in Ridge Racer, and I'm sooooo impressed with the 3D effect! So far I would say Pilot Wings and Ridge Racer have the best use of depth. Street Fighter really doesn't benefit from much, but it's still nice to have it in there.

I saw somebody else was playing Ghost Recon from this list......forget who. Thoughts on it?

Agreed - I like how we can see our friends online and what games they're playing now, and I like how the notification light blinks to let you know someone new came on. I wish, though, that there was some kind of on-screen notification in something other than the home menu.... it's kind of crummy to have to leave the game to go see who is online, but thankfully the suspend feature lessens the blow a lot.

I have a feeling Nintendo will add some sort of messaging function in the near future - there are some features that are clearly missing here, but already in the menus (like the web browser, system transfer, and DSiWare/3DS Ware menus). I could just be holding on to false hopes, but I think Nintendo does plan to evolve this a bit.

To be fair, there's some pretty substantial system updates coming. We might get a pictochat analog in the friends menu, yet.

Entirely possible to have video chat, sure.

Also, given that we don't have the app store for it yet, we can probably safely assume that there'll be a chat channel available through it. Xbox Live used to be pretty shitty and unintuitive on launch day, too. With a few weeks of feedback from users and some software updates, though, that problem goes away.

I agree. The story bits between the missions just wash by in a nonsensical wave, but the missions are pretty fun. I'm glad I went with this as my launch title.

2) Find your 3DS's IP address range (it's likely auto assigned by your router) by checking for an "active client list" - it'll be named Nintendo 3DS. it has to be connected actively to the internet, so keep it on the 'friends' screen.

3) go to your 'firewall' setting, look for the 'DMZ' option (stands for demilitarized zone). Pop in your 3DS IP address range.

Alternately, turn your firewall entirely off. This may or may not solve the problem.

I'll keep the fight requests on. If you play Lite, promise not to use Charge characters. A guile that ca instantly sonic boom or flash kick is way too cheap to fight effectively.

If I use charge characters, I'll use them properly, I only use the touch screen when I'm just totally unable to pull off Ultras or Supers. I've been punished enough online to realize the simplicity of a one-hit mega combo is balanced out by having to take your thumb off the control nub

Oh, that's fine, then. Most of the skill on Ultras is WHEN to use them. And the inputs are finicky as hell on a small system. I main Vega, myself, so believe me when I say I know how hard Pro is.

Actually, for this to work properly you would need to assign the 3DS a static IP address, otherwise anything that comes along and occupies that IP (they would be assigned in order of when the active clients requested an IP), and that's not good for this purpose for a few reasons.

You know, I believe you're right. Setting a static IP address involves some damn witch-sorcery that I don't know how to channel properly.

It's complicated. Like "Wait until the wolf is in the third house, and accelerate the hadrons until they reach FTL speeds" complicated.

I know how you feel. I find myself totally loving this version of SSFIV a lot more than I thought I would. Finally beat the story mode with someone (seth is SO tough with the controls of this game) and I was very happy to see that the anime scenes are still on the card, and the video quality is REALLY good. Says a lot about the capacity of the 3DS games, I think... anyone know how much data they can cram on these things?

I've hit my 30 coin limit on play coins while running around the past few days - time to cash in and buy some figures!

As much as I love SSFIV on the 3DS, the controls are seriously hindering my abilities. I've never claimed to be a highly skilled fighter, as my Xbox rankings would show, but I feel like I'm absolutely pathetic on this thing. Coming from the Mad Catz Tournament Edition stick, I'm really struggling to do EX moves and Ultra Combos. Still, I refuse to use anything other than Pro, because that's what I pretend I am :)

I'm sure many have figured this out, but don't neglect your Figurine team for SSFIV. Last night I got a streetpass match on the train. I mopped the floor with the other guy and earned 5,000 Figurine points!

Unfortunately the game lies and you don't seem to get any additional points for running a simulation in the streetpass log.

Okay, this seems like a huge goddamn glaring error, but it seems if you want to keep the Lite control scheme, you have have to go to each and every character to remap even the standard L/M/H Punches and kicks. I thought I'd go with my old 360 control scheme of moving the light attacks to the shoulders and hard attacks to the face 4.

I'm not remapping all 35 bloody characters.

Never met the people, but I know they're around. And their characters gaining in levels make the Find Mii minigame easier, too. Not yet. They must know me in one of my classes - only bout 30 people, the teacher addresses people by name, and I always show up 2 minutes late with a Starbucks in my hand. Not a difficult guy to remember. But I'm gonna scan for these duders.

Yeah, I have two handles for two different communities (one of which is CoG), and I've got friends in both that have the 3DS so I need to let them both know who I am; that's how I handle it. I've been moving away from my CoG handle anyway, but don't really want to change it here again since some people take that as a way of escaping a bad reputation or what-have-you.

Point your 3DS at the QR code in the Mii Maker once you select 'Scan QR code'.

It will import another person's Mii.

Because we were obsessed enough to add everyone on the list first :)
If the person you are adding hasn't added you yet, you have to provide a nickname and their avatar will be greyed out. When they add you, then you'll see their Mii and their nickname will change to whatever their Mii is named.
