I think I've mentioned before that I've recently started playing Mordheim which is a Warhammer Fantasy city skirmish game. I'm looking to put together my 2nd warband which are going to be the Witch Hunters. I've been trying to find the right models to use and I'm split between two styles, I'm looking for some nerdy feedback here. Basically I've found some models which are more of a crusades style approach, the other set would be an angry mob type thing which technically is more consistent with the mordheim world. Just wondering which you would go with.

The Crusader style is so much cooler. So much.

Agreed. Crusaders are cooler, even if they don't necessarilly fit the theme.

Wow. I love it that people are still playing Mordheim. I made a Skaven warband a LONG time ago.

Yeah it's alot of fun, I like the campaign style. We're playing at a local store and there's a group of I think 12 people playing. Tonight will be week 7, I started playing a human mercenary warband but they've gotten trounced so bad I had to retire them and start over. I actually have all the pieces for a Skaven warband too but for some reason i wanted to try Witch Hunters, i think it's mostly because no one else is playing that warband and there's already a Skaven player who's dominating.

My vote's on villagers. Far better fit to the setting and 90% more hellfire.

I like the crusaders better, but the village mob is more accurate to the setting....hmmm.

Who says you can't mix and match? I'd say go with the V=villagers, but include a crusader or two as special units. Or at the very least, you need the Soloman Kane look alike with the crusader bunch.

you could go with the crusaders as the heroes and the villagers as the mobs, that actually probably would be a good combo
and i myself play skaven in mordheim too lol, altho i took a different approach to the swarm model i would start with the 6 heroes and deck them out as much as i could

I think the combo method is what I'm going to use. I'll use the crusaders as my heroes and villagers as the rabble. The idea being that the knights are religious zealots who come to town and rile up the townsfolk then go hunting with their new "canon" fodder.
So I'll either grab the villagers I linked above or just pay the Games workshop prices and get the real set http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat440093a&prodId=prod10006

I used to love GW models when I was a kid, but now I find they just can't compare to companies like Reaper and Warlord, price aside.

Yeah I love the Reaper models and they're so darned cheap too.

reaper and the like seem so much more detailed and usable for many situations, where the GW are just so massed produced that they just dont get the same feel, but they are very customizable unlike the reaper ones
now i want to play mordheim again, i used to be in a league with roughly 20 people

For me the Reaper models are good for heros and stand alone pieces. When it comes to making a big horde though, GW is the way to go. It's nice to be able to tweak the units so they don't all look identical.
