It seemed like yesterday when CEO of Nintendo, Satoru Iwata revealed the company's latest portable successor, the Nintendo 3DS, at their E3 2010 press conference. With stereoscopic 3D visuals, a massive boost in power, enhanced multiplayer capabilities, and the ability to re-experience downloadable Game Boy titles in 3D, there's a lot to love about the system. The important question on everyone's mind is "How does/will it work?"
When Nintendo unveiled the handheld at E3 2010, it was the first time that people were able to go hands-on with the device. Of course, those who weren't affiliated with the gaming industry were SOL at that time. But seven months later, Nintendo of Japan held an event called "Nintendo World 2011" (Jan 8-11), allowing the japanese public for the first time to sample the system. Eight days after, Nintendo of America held their own event in New York, where two of three most sought after (and crucial) pieces of information were revealed: The handheld will land in North America on March 27, 2011, with a retail price of $249.99.
Of course, we all have our plans for securing a Nintendo 3DS. Some of us were already early adopters, having put down a preorder at our retailer(s) of choice as soon as they were announced. Others might be lucky enough to brave travelling to the nearest store and pick up a unit without the unnecessary hassle of preordering woes. All that's left is some software to test drive your soon-to-be handheld.
Only what games will be available at launch? That leads us to the third and final piece of information: the lineup. Come March 27th, 18 titles will be looking for a new home:
Pilotwings Resort
Developer: Monster Games

It's been several years since PilotWings was last seen on the Nintendo 64. PilotWings Resort takes place on Wuhu Island, the island which debuted in Wii Fit, and also appears in Wii Fit Plus and Wii Sports Resort. The game will allow you to use your Mii as you explore Wuhu Island at your own leisure, or take part in timed and points-based missions. Pictures taken with the 3DS camera can be saved to the system's photo album to be shared with friends and family.

This unique sleeper title lets you pilot a submarine through various locales and engage enemy submarines. Other modes of play include Naval Battle Mode, where you and a friend try to sink each others submarines. Periscope Mode makes use of the 3DS' gyrometer, allowing you to use the handheld itself to aim and fire at enemy submarines.

Nintendogs + cats returns with 3 brand new species of dog, and the addition of cats to raise and care for. The camera is used so that pets will remember their owners faces, and snapped 3D photos can be saved to the SD card and exchanged via StreetPass to other users.
