View Full Version : Gears 2'sdays Vs. L4D Tuesdays

So we have an interesting scheduling conflict. No doubt most people will be playing both of these games every night for a while. Even so, it's easier for people with difficult schedules to set aside a specific night for a game.

Traditionally Gears of War took over for Halo Tuesdays, and it would only be assumed that Gears2 would follow suit. However Left 4 Dead is another extremely anticipated title, and when the Steam CoG group voted Tuesdays won out.

I don't know if we'll be hosting L4D XBox and PC versions at different time slots if not entirely different days.

So the question is: Do people mind doubling up Tuesday nights as Gears and Left 4 Dead nights?

Gears actually took over from GRAW, not Halo. :). Tuesday Night Gears is still in effect for me. L4D can wait on that night.

I voted Gears 2, as I am not at all interested in playing it, and I would rather play L4D on another night.

I picked both. Spread the love!

I can't vote as I have no means to play either game right now. My 360 works, kinda, sometimes, and I have no PC.

Anyway, what about having alternating weeks - Gears one Tuesday, L4D the next?

We just want to make sure there's enough interest in both games to "schedule" a CoG night on the same night.

But you should vote, because you won't always be without a means to game ;)

I voted L4D, but really it doesn't matter. What other days of the week are available for L4D?

Sunday, Thursdays, and Wed. were popular days. I think it may get bumped to Sunday nights, or hold another vote excluding the currently allocated nights.

Gears 2 takes precedence for me and I think it will outlast L4D. I'm a little biased on my vote since I can't afford both games, but my statement would stand true even if I could. Hopefully L4D ends up being dynamic enough to hold peoples' interests for the long run so I can buy it later down the road and have people to play with. I have 100% faith that Gears 2 will be played for months to come. Gears Tuesday was something I excitedly anticipated every week.

I don't think we can accurately say one way or the other about which game will outlast the other. Of course having played , I find it to be the superior game (over gears 1) I will be playing both however :D

To be honest, I don't think we need a specific night for these games. People will be playing either almost every night of the week for quite some time. I see a dedicated night as a necessity only when people aren't playing a particular title.

I don't have a lot of time to play games, so knowing that people will congregate on a specific night for a specific game makes things easier for me. I know others are in the same boat I am, and it doesn't hurt the natural occurrence of people playing every night for a few weeks. This is bound to happen ultimately so just putting a little forethought into things :)

It's just a little structure to help those (like me) drowning in games this November organize their evenings a bit.

Only if you're one of those idiots who thinks Sunday is the first day of the week. :p

Valve released Left 4 Dead (demo) on a Thursday, the real man's 4th day of the week.

are we going to be playing left for dead on xbox 360? Thursday sounds good to me for left 4 dead...or wed. Which ever works out better for everyone.

Well in all fairness Gears chronologically gets an advantage so it will be taking the Tuesday slot. However I'll put a L4D event on the calendar for Tuesdays, but also on another day of the week. It will be decided once the launch is closer.
