Does anyone here have any experience with one? If I am going to cancel Dish at the end of the month I am going to need to get something for network tv. I don't mind streaming and torrenting most things but I need something to watch my local news with. This will be used with a laptop so internal cards are not an option.

I want to go cheap (especially since it is going to cost me $200 already to cancel Dish). Shopping around this seems to be the least expensive alternative but I don't want to waste $70ish on something that will sit in a drawer and never be used if it doesn't work.

I'm looking at this one (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001DEYVXO/ref=ord_cart_shr?ie=UTF8&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER).

Or, if these do not work well going with this (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003DPKOKK/ref=ord_cart_shr?ie=UTF8&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER)more expensive alternative.

Any tips or advice is greatly appreciated.

I've thought about doing this a few times (PC TV Tuner), but never quite got round to it.

Have you checked this one (http://www.amazon.com/Avertv-Hybrid-Volar-Windows-MTVHVMXSK/dp/B002U6KT8U/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1298572776&sr=1-3) out? Better reviews (and it appears to be a more modern product).

Funny you should mention that one. I have it and the Hauppauge in my cart trying to decide between them if that is the path I take. My only concern with the Avertv is it doesn't appear to come with any software at all. I have XP/MCE and it appears to be compatible so I doubt I would use any other software anyway.

Yeah, it would work perfectly with MCE. If it were me, I would pull the trigger on that one. :)

I would suggest checking out the Roku, It has well over 100 different Channels, The most notable ones being Netflix, Hulu Plus, Amazon Video, PC to Roku Streaming, Pandora. Great cheap little box. :)
