Just curious if anyone has come across any nice Fallout 3 mods that they want to enlighten us with?
Here's a nice user interface mod that increases the amount of stuff on-screen in the menus, reducing the amount of scrolling required. Also cleans up the fonts a little.

Nice, little changes like this make these games so much better. Can't wait to see more.

i'm excited to see what people will be able to pull off with Fallout 3.
i've been a pretty big fallout fan for the last decade, and i enjoy Bethesdas work but find i am having a lot of trouble getting into Fallout 3.

I'm fairly sure they haven't put out the construction set for Fallout 3 yet (they released the CS for Oblivion before the game!), but when they do, as it seems to run on a mostly Oblivion engine, the mods will be great indeed, especially if the Oblivion modders have gotten into Fallout. I'm sure some of them have.

Oh, mods will come, regardless if tools are released. Week 1 we had the Bioshock aspect ratio mod to fix the problem of no true widescreen.

http://www.fallout3nexus.com already has a smattering of mods, including one that will increase the level cap (although apparently, if you level up and all skills are maxed, the game will crash). Timeslip already put out the fallout mod manager, and it even lets modders build their mods as .esp files, despite there being no construction kit. They're working on a script extender as well. Good times.

Heck...no reason not to get it on PC...it even has the achievements :)
Though, I must say, I spent a lot of money rebuilding my pc for this game :o

All I really need is a new video card. ;)
I can already play it, it's just kinda clunky and a bit on the uggo side for certain things.
The game scales surprisingly well, even to my failing 7300LE.

Does anyone know if all the mods so far will work with the version on Steam? I know mods normally work with games on Steam but there was talk of them possibly having issues in Fallout 3 for some reason.

I grabbed both the PC and Xbox versions for no particular reason (too much money maybe?), but it looks like the two versions share seperate Achievements... While the Achievements themselves are the same, LIVE treats theme as seperate games. I'm just wondering if mods are going to influence the gaining of Achievements?

Sniper Mod:
http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=161
VATS Manual Chance Evaluation is a slight revision of the standard VATS accuracy formula which will put a much greater emphasis on your weapon skill and the base accuracy of your chosen weapon rather than simply the distance to your target.
As a small bonus it will lower the VATS zoom factor and remove the nonsensical wear VATS used to apply to your weapon.
This will, as a side effect, also slightly increase the influence of skill on your real time accuracy, as it is used in the VATS calculations. So don`t use this mod with one that completely eliminates real time weapon spread.
I have only tested this mod on a single character build so more usage data is welcome. Scientific or simply how the mod feels ;-)
However please do not report imbalance of unique weapons as fixing those lies not within the scope of this mod.

High definition texture pack:
Gamershell (http://www.gamershell.com/download_36866.shtml)
Size: 398.84MB
Description:
This is a compilation of many High-resolution textures for fallout 3.
It vastly improves the visuals of fallout 3 without changing the overall "fallout 3 look"
A fast computer which can handle everything on ultra-high is recommended (Otherwise you will experience studdering)
I haven't tried this out yet, but will download it tonight to see how it looks and plays. I have a decent "almost" high-end machine, so I should be able to run it and give my impressions.
Install:
Navigate to "C:UsersUsernameDocumentsMy GamesFallout3" (or equivalent on XP)
Open Fallout 3.ini
Find the line "bInvalidateOlderFiles=0" and change the 0 into a 1
bInvalidateOlderFiles=1

Okay, tried the ultra pack this morning. Couldn't get it to work though. Or, if it did work, it didn't make a difference. Though, I don't think it worked because there was no option for an "ultra" texture size, only high.

All I want is a mod that stops the game from ending after the last mission of the main quest. There's one out there that does this, but it's very buggy and just plops you back to the beginning with no explanations or real reward. I want a mod that lets me continue and modifies the ending so that it makes sense.

I have to agree with you. I would love to complete the main quest without having to go back to a previous save just to continue playing.

High def pack...unzip to your install directory...follow the instructions and when you start up, the "high" texture size will be the new textures. Played a bit with it. Seems to sharpen a lot of things, especially the newspapers on the ground, etc...It's definitely one of those things you don't really notice unless you compare it against what you used to have.

Well, apparently the third DLC Bethesda announced raises the level cap and lets you continue past the end, so there will be an "official" way to do it soon.

When I got to the end of the game, I did it on the assumption that if you didn't die in the chamber, you would be able to continue. So, I sent in Lyons, realized that the game doesn't continue, thought "Screw this," and started over with the intent of being as evil as possible.
Thankfully, there's a quick way to get there. If you have neutral karma, and you actually press the button that makes Megaton erupt into a mushroom cloud (fun!), you will become as evil as it is possible to be.

I just got back into FO3 again a few days ago, and I had forgotten how much I love this game.
The modding community has definitely flourished.

Oooo, ok, that one is pretty badass.
I like the body replacement mods, but I've never liked the 'I'm a slut in Oblivion/FO3' look that usually came with them. I just liked women to look, ya know, like a woman.

For those interested in quest mods here some really good ones.
Any by puce moose - all high quality and actively supported by him.
A Note Easily Missed (http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=4730) with its followons "An Evening with Mr Manchester" and "To Sleep Perhaps to dream"
A point lookout mod: In the Shadow of the swamp (http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=12296).
And his last FO3 mod: The Mantis Imperative (http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=12296)
Another good one is A quest for Heaven - Episode 1 (http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=10208)
And under the good but flawed and frustrating catagory is Cube Experimental (http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=6270)
My current FO3 modlist:

In no order they: Add new homes, quadruple enemy spawns, allow allied squads, tweak the lighting, give new weapons, let me run around with the MGS box, skip all of the Vault 101 intro (with bonus careers and perks), launch a poor bastard into orbit and even build my own town out in the Wasteland.

You do realize that skipping the Vault 101 intro is as simple as making a save-game right before you walk out the door (same as Oblivion, and Morrowind) ?
Quadruple enemy spawns !?!? Good grief, I don't think I want to know how much fun Point Lookout has to be with that on.

A lot of people use a mod that adds a new intro, so you don't HAVE to be a vault dweller. For some people who play more for an RP aspect, it opens a lot more for their 'characters'
You do realize that skipping the Vault 101 intro is as simple as making a save-game right before you walk out the door (same as Oblivion, and Morrowind) ?
Yeah, but doing that doesn't give nearly two dozen RPG character classes to play with (including where you start, what gear you start with and who your allies are). It can break the main quest though if you, say, start as an Outcast (the Brotherhood mark you as kill on sight) though.
Edit: I should point out I despise both the 101 escape and return quests. Not fun at all and their only redeeming merit is so you can get back in there with a few Mini-Nukes to get some revenge.
