I'd say a mix between this and this:

I saw that last night, and it made me chuckle something fierce. The same dude that once said he wanted to cut off Obama’s nuts is now brought to tears (of joy, I assume) by his victory?

I was asleep. This morning I was more concerned with the plight of the medical marijuanna and stem cell propositions.
I voted for him, he has 4 years to convince me I made the right choice.

Really? I can never sleep on election night until I know - for the most part - who won. Of course, right after that, I hit the sack, but still...doesn't the mystery eat you up?

Hes always been a fucking douche and always will be. Still it was somewhat moving to see him considering hes basically devoted his whole life towards something like this (even if his methods for doing it had the exact opposite effect and made a lot of people dislike him). I don't agree with how he tried to do things, but I did agree with his greater goal.
That or he was crying cause it wasn't him. :)

Well, if you can separate political opinion from civil rights I think you'll find his tears have more to do with history being made than Obama as a politician being elected. The man walked with MLK, after all. The significance of his tears can't be lost on you, can it?

:D <------- Like this, when I was at work and a co-worker told me that Obama had won. It looked like that the entire drive home, and when I told the wife, and while I watched the acceptance speech. Which I almost got teary eyed over.

To be fair to Jackson (a guy I usually dislike) even if he hated/hates Obama, I can see how it would be incredibly moving, if only on an ideological level , for Obama to be elected.
I'm still not convinced yet Obama will be a great president (and I'm faaar from the "he's our savior" crowd) but I was moved that America was able to elect him.
It's like I said in another thread, no matter your political affiliation, or for that matter how the Obama presidency turns out, to try to downplay the historical significance of this event is just ignorant.
People giving Jackson shit for getting emotional are completely missing the point.

I was laughing. 30 seconds before the west coast polls closed, my dad changed the channel to indecision 08. It was funny, but I feel like I missed out on an important moment.
Also: by complete accident, I put on my Godspeed You Black Emperor! shirt. I didn't realize the connection till about 5 minutes later.

Oh, I get why he was crying, but it just surprised me. I mean, with the amount of vitriol he showed sometimes, it came as a shock that he could overcome it and appreciate the moment.

He's a hater. And even haters get their feelings hurt sometime.
I was shocked, not for Obama but the speed. The count was moving slow and then in like one refresh of the screen, Obama got like 100 ec votes. And, BAM, that shit was over. I'm expecting the normal we won't know until the morning type shit. This was probably the easiest presidential election I've ever seen.

Yeah, that would have been the 11:00 (EST) mark, when polls closed in the west, but it is also one of the benefits of electronic voting.

When Ohio went blue I was suprised and knew it was over. I'm amazed by some of the states hes gotten. Indiana, Virginia and North Carolina (probably). Those are extremely red states historically. Hopefully this is the sign of a shift in American politics towards the middle and not just a backlash against Bush.

There really wasn't much of a mystery. Obama was well on his way to victory by the time I left to do my laundry sometime early evening. McCain by that point was already being roundly bent over and violated by the Electoral College.

I'd been up all night and it was called sometime in the earlyish afternoon local time. I was very tired, but had one ear listening closely.

For the past couple weeks I haven't doubted for a second that he was going to win, so the moment wasn't as big of a deal for me. Especially considering he actually "won" long before it was made official. Although I did get a kick out of watching the TV guys try to pretend like the election wasn't won already, as if McCain was going to win the west coast or something.
I did get teary-eyed during his speech, but then Prop 8 passed so my hope for the human species was short-lived.
