Midway has just announced that Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe has gone gold.
The game pits the die-hards of the Mortal Kombat franchise - including Shao Kahn, Scorpion and Raiden - against some of DC's most iconic characters - including Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and the Flash - in a battle to save the Earth.
Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe will be available for the Xbox 360 & Playstation 3 systems on November 16th in the United States and November 21st across Europe

I would only buy fighting games if they are cheaper / DLC. They are usually a lot of fun for a very short period of time then fizzle out.

This has unfortunately gone directly to a for sure rent instead of a buy because of the neutering of the fatalaties in order to get a Teen rating.

Gold? But they haven't finished the graphics yet....where is the gore?

What? They tamed down an MK game? Isn't that sort of missing the point? Must have missed that story, but I can't believe they're doing that. Has this been done since E3?

I believe that Midway was contractually obligated to produce a Teen rated game in order to use the DC license.

Yeah. WB/DC would not let their icons have their spines ripped out in a game under any circumstances.

Which is funny since the Joker beat the second Robin to death with a crowbar.

It sounds like Midway was surprised when the ESRB gave it an M originally with the Joker fatality shown in this thread as part of it. They had to trim back things enough to get it a Teen rating. It's just sad though.

I'm sure one of us might. I plan on getting it from Gamefly. Now whether you have a quick review turnaround will depend on what else is outstanding because I doubt we'll get product early.

Scott was this games champion, make him. :D
But really they said the Joker fatality is cut?

Cut? Not exactly.
I heard it was modified so that the victim isn't shown. So I guess it just shows the Joker doing his dance and shoot off the side of the screen.
Either way, I was skeptic but positive of this title before. Now...I'll rent it, but there's no chance I will buy it unless it's way better than their last MK titles have been. I still hold that Deception was their best non-traditional MK title.

Nick was also a champion of it since they both played it at E3. The final fatality has not been shown, but for sure the point blank shot with blood coming out is probably out or severely changed.

They should make the Joker pull out a mallet with the ESRB logo on it and smack them upside the head with it. ;)

Great. I was hoping For Doc F. to review it also since he's the comic book maven around here :D. I wanted to see if it's worth it for a DC fan but not much of a player for the fight genre.

Although I don't join in the discussion very much around here, I am pretty well versed in both DC and Marvel history up to today. Been reading comics off and on for almost 3 decades now.
