So I just got invited to attend a caving trip to a pretty famous cave: Ellisons cave, I'm very excited.

Be aware that anything under about 100 ft below ground and it begins to get hot. By 550 feet you may be sweating a ton, so be prepared.

That looks pretty cool. Have you seen that place in South America, looks similar but much wider, people BASE jump into it. It looks insane.

Don't think that quite holds true for some caves.. at least in the Eastern US. I've been down 200 ft so far, and as always, its 50-55, year round. Then again for this cave you have to hike up a mountain 2 miles to even get to the entrance, so its high up to begin with.

I've been told this one can be up to 58-60ish max, but its middle of November, so I doubt it.

Recommend attire is pants, tights, boots, long sleeve shirt and potentially a small track jacket, not caving coveralls/suit though, too warm for those.


I've heard horror stories of the caves in Florida though.. they breath so much that it sucks in all the air and its around 80 in the cave, even a mile back.
