Lets talk about Crysis 2.
Namely the demo for 360.
Which is why this goes in Console Haven and not General/PC.
My first impression was rage as the game is kind of easy to get killed in.
First tip, be aware of the vertical axis, as it's quite easy to get above people.
Second tip, when you spawn, hit both bumpers, may as well burn a bit of energy to be tough/invisible for a couple of seconds and get your bearings.
Third, it's never a bad idea to have armor on.
Fourth, energy regens fast as hell.
Five, dash and melee does tons more damage than just melee, as does the ground-pound.
Six, hit down on the D-pad, turns on nano-vision which shows heat, so you can see invisible people.
I've enjoyed my hour or so with the demo so far, the pacing feels tense as danger can be anywhere, invisible or tough and getting the drop on someone is fairly easy as almost every room has at least 3 entrances to it, also headshots do great damage as do rear melee attacks. So it ends up reminding me of Modern Warfare, but turned up to 15 or so, just without claymores or as much grenade spam.
Knowing where people are is the key to winning, and with the movement options available, it's possible to duck behind a corner after someone sees you, turn invisible, jump onto the roof of the corner and land behind the other guy and backstab him. (this happened to me, I was impressed).
The UI is really nice and the leveling system seems to be based around rewarding for whatever playstyle I pick (and there are quite a few ways to play, and all seem valid in Deathmatch so far).
The graphics are also really good. Almost as good as the CoD singleplayer.. but with more interaction with the world (breaking thing.. and the amazing water) plus the lighting indoors and outdoors and vertical height of the level just feel so damn unique to the game. So good on Crytek for making Crysis work on a console and streamlining the controls from the weird mode select to be intuitive (want to jump high.. hold A)
Thoughts?
