Did anyone else receive a mandatory Xbox 360 update last week? I sure did, and now my 360 (launch unit with upwards of 40 failures) freezes after about one minute of gameplay (or watching anything on Netflix). I don't know if the update bricked my console, but the timing is suspect.

Still, as we all know, 360s (especially launch units) have been plagued with freezing issues from the get-go.

Fortunately I ordered the Xbox 360 Slim Holiday Bundle (with Alan Wake and Forza 3) last week and it's scheduled to be delivered tomorrow.

Yah...I think it's just dead...you've beaten that horse 40 times already...send it off to the glue factory.

It really sounds like it's the graphics card now...mine would do the same and freeze like it was overheating.

I got the new slim for Christmas and it's way nicer than my old unit :) (minus the fact that it doesn't take the memory card anymore).

Also, don't forget you can just slip the old drive into the new unit ;)

I'm jealous you're getting the new "Slim" version. A friend of mine has one and it runs sooooo much quieter than my old Elite.

PARADE RAINING, INCOMING!

*WHARP WHARP WHARP*

My shiny slim still freezes on occasion. Good luck!

I still think you should try to get it revived, it's like a tradition. A contest if you will. In decades to come, there will be a man, with a launch unit 360 that still works. He will be glorified for his achievement.

There can be only one.

That update murdered one of our demo units.

Ah... I'm under no illusions that my new slim will be trouble-free. After all, it's a 360!

As for staying the course - I'm pretty much done with it, honestly. It has been over five years with nothing but issues after the first year or so.

I sold my broken launch unit on eBay for $60. They are still highly sought after I'm guessing for the DVD drive.
