Dylan Fitterer's Audio Surf will be available for the simply ludicrous sum of $2.49 (yes, the decimal point is in the right place) this weekend only. What is AudioSurf? Glad you asked. From the product page at Steam Powered (http://www.steampowered.com):
"Audiosurf is a music-adapting puzzle racer where you use your own music to create your own experience. The shape, the speed, and the mood of each ride is determined by the song you choose. You earn points for clustering together blocks of the same color on the highway, and compete with others on the internet for the high score on your favorite songs."

Audiosurf on Steam includes The Orange Box soundtrack, integrated with the game to enable "Still Alive" surfing and more. In addition, Audiosurf is one of the first titles to leverage the recently announced Steamworks, offering full support for the Steam Achievements that appear on Steam Community profile pages.
Play with any music from your own collection--the game supports MP3s, iTunes M4As, WMAs, CDs and OGGs
Valve's The Orange Box Original Soundtrack is included.
Online scoreboards for each song you play.
Choose your strategy from 14 available characters.
Track your progress as Steam Achievements.
The current metascore on Metacritic for AudioSurf is an impressive 85% (http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/pc/audiosurf).
There really is no excuse for you NOT to pick this up, unless you have an aversion to fun.

This is an amazing deal. This game is great to just play for ten minutes here, ten minutes there etc. I think there are a lot of good deals on steam at the moment if you're prepared to play slightly older games.

The ad on the Steam store says "this week", not weekend.

I just watched a youtube video of it (One by Metallica) and have a few gameplay questions.
1) Can you die?
2) How often are you given the ability of snagging colored blocks on adjacent tracks? What causes that ability?
3) It looks like you redeem the collected colored blocks for points. Do you control when you redeem them? i take it grey blocks you crash into (and are also shown as collected on the track graphic) reduce points or does it just prevent you from getting more points to redeem on that particular set of points?
Thanks in advance...lovies!
things you can get in denmark for 2.50$ the current rates:
1 Liter of chocolate milk.
or
½L of coca cola.
or
1 bag of chips
Skip a snack and get this instead!

I still play Audiosurf every once in a while. It's infinitely fun and definitely worth $2.50.

1. No, but if you screw up enough you're just out of the game for a while so you won't get the high score.
2. You're free to move around the track and snag whichever blocks you want.
3. Three or more blocks of the same color are redeemed for points. It does this automatically after a few seconds of not adding any new blocks.
One mode has one color of blocks and then grey blocks that have to be avoided. The longer you avoid a grey block, the more points you get from picking up colors. You have to spend points to get grey blocks out of your palette.

Finally picked this up. For that price, you'd be a gibbering twit not to!
Oh, and a side note, my 360 controller (and other gamepads, I suspect) works perfectly with Audiosurf without having to configure a single thing. A lot of fun :D

Make sure you join the Steam CoG group (http://www.colonyofgamers.com/cogforums/showthread.php?t=98)!
I'm so happy I was too busy to get this game. E4, Rez, now AudioSurf. So win.
