I picked up Munchkin last week and played it all night with a group of 5, it was a BLAST!!! When I was at the store buying it, I noticed there are quite a few expansions for the game, and I was just wondering if any fellow Munchkin-lovers here could recommend any to start with/ones to avoid/all of them!

ANy of them are fun and add some extra jokes to the deck. The 7th expansion More Good Cards ships today, and it sounds like it has a lot more of the "fun" cards.

I just love the tagline.

I like Munchkin Cthulhu both in theme and for offering up an alternate way to win. Plus, the deck seems designed to prevent long games.

I got Munchkin Booty for my birthday, it's the new Munchkin series based on pirates. I'm finally going to get to play it this Saturday, I'm really excited.
So yea, Munchkin rocks!

Muchkin-Fu is my personal favorite, but Space Munckin adds a lot of guns to the mix.

Munchkin Cthulhu has the greatest pair of cards in the entire series:
"O R'lyeh?" and "IA! R'lyeh!"

Haha, the ability to combined lasers, while creating hilarious names, is very overpowered o.0.

I prefer the combination that forms the bananafanafophazer

My favorite weapon was always the Naganaia of Ever-Growing Mastery. Every time you kill a monster, it gets more powerful.
I've collected Munchkin for several years, and as of a few weeks ago I have someone on the inside (wife works for Steve Jackson Games now)! So now I'll sound like a shill, but the love was there before the official connection. And to be honest, it would have been nice to get the discount BEFORE spending hundreds of dollars on this stuff. Though to be fair, most of my first Munchkin games were bought in the great Wizards of the Coast going out of business sale from a few years back.
I got into these games over ten years ago when I was introduced to the card game Illuminati. Over the years I've managed to get friends and relatives into them, especially Ninja Burger (we deliver your burger in 30 seconds or commit ritual seppuku!), and the recent game Spooks.
And to actually, honestly, shamelessly shill for a second. The big ass Munchkin board game Munchkin Quest just came out this week. It's a bit pricey, but it all looks very impressive. Just opened mine up last night, but haven't had a chance to play it yet. Probably will do that this weekend.

I've always looked at picking this up but I would never have more than two people to play with save for maybe once every couple of months (or maybe holidays with the family). My wife doesn't play card games and I have one buddy who'd be into this and that's about all. Would it still be worth grabbing or is it almost a must to have 3 people or more?

I have Munchkin Cthulhu along with the starter deck for two players from Munchkin Cthulhu. Sadly, we have yet to try it. The starter comes with promotional cards, though, and one of them is The Cult Membership Card. Basically, the way it works is if you convince someone who isn't a part of the game to play your turn for you, they get to keep the card and you level up. I thought that was pretty awesome.

Munchkin is technically playable with just two people, but it's not nearly as fun. This is mainly because a lot of the point of the game is making deals and stabbing each other in the back. There's no dynamic to be had with just two people. Three is better, but I've found that groups of four and five to be ideal. Bigger than five can get unwieldy and slow things down, but still be fun.

Okay, that just confirms what I've heard. I need to go buy some new friends so I can play this. Thanks for the info.

If you're looking for some two-player board game action, the game Mr. Jack (http://www.warehouse23.com/item.html?id=ASM700100) has apparently been very popular lately. It's designed to be played by ONLY two people. One of you controls four people, one of whom is Jack the Ripper, and the other tries to figure out which it is before he (or she) escapes. I just got it for my birthday, and (like many games I've been getting lately) haven't played it yet, but hope to very soon.

That actually sounds really interesting and something my wife and I might even be able to play together. She's really into Scrabble, Trivial Pursuit, etc (though we do play the Buffy board game quite a bit, oddly) so she may even get a kick out of Mr. Jack.
I'll have to look into that more. Thanks!
