Is there any job someone won't make a simulation out of? Today we get word from Gameinvest that their game, Emergency Hospital has gone gold for XBLA and PC digital download. Formerly known as Sarah’s Emergency Room, this game puts you in the worn, sensible shoes of an ER nurse.
Emergency Hospital casts players as Sarah, an ambitious young nurse who suddenly gets a taste of thrilling emergency room action when she accepts a mysterious management position at a small hospital in Arkansas. Players control Sarah as she frantically diagnoses patients, prescribes medicine, assists in the operating room, and runs back and forth between the waiting room and examination rooms to keep track of troublesome patients. With nine difficulty levels for each of the game’s seven hospitals, and several floors of patients in each hospital, Emergency Hospital provides hours of frenzied fun for gamers of all ages.I could go on and on about what a real nurse simulator would entail, but suspension of disbelief says that's unnecessary.

Emergency Hospital is set for release on November 26th on XBLA, and through portals such as RealNetworks and Big Fish Games on the PC.

If it taught anything about anatomy or medicine I'd adore it. But it looks like just another basic sim.

This game sounds surprisingly interesting. Not to many games like it on the XBLA right now.

edit:

OK, never mind. No actual medicine kills it for me then.

This looks kinda like the medical game Bullfrog released about a decade ago. I completely forget the name, but it was amazing.

Theme Hospital, I own it.

And yes, it was awesome... if at times brutal.

Actually, from the description, I think it is a time management game like Diner Dash. I like time management games, but I just play the ones available free (for an hour) online whenever I get an itch to play a new one and my PC came with Diner Dash 2.

The visuals sorta remind me of Theme Hospital for the PC. I LOOOOOVED that game. I'll give the demo a try... see what falls out. :)

Theme Hospital was a fun game back in the day. Of course this appears to be nothing like it, except visually, which is a little sad considering that Theme Hospital came out in the 90s. Still, I'm sure I'll check out the demo.

Really though, where is Kingdom for Keflings? That's the only game I want this year.

While I realize national opinion of Arkansas is pretty low, why don't they make Sarah a resident instead of a nurse? At least then it'd have some vague semblance of reality to it.

Maybe she is an insanely negligent nurse who thinks she can do everything.

Seriously though, if this is a time management game, probably what happens is that she is responsible for moving the people between stations that are manned by doctors (that you don't play as. . . take them to the examination table and the doctor attached to it does his job). She probably also fetches things for doctors, checks patients in, and gets bonus points for taking people with the same-colored shirts to the same exam rooms.

In the screens provided with the release she's shown at several different hospitals, including Albuquerque and (I think) Kansas City, so it's not a bias for or against Razorbacks.
