Well, I was hoping they'd release The After Years WiiWare games as a complete collection on a disc some time, instead of spending nearly $40 on them combined, but, ya know, I think I like this better.

Due out next Spring in Japan (and they'd damn well better bring it out here after that), Final Fantasy IV Complete Collection will include the original FFIV as well as The After Years, with an additional scenario connecting the two stories, as well as more possible content to be announced later. And all of this remade in 2D, not that ugly as sin style FFIV had in the DS remake.

Why oh why do they keep re-releasing my favorite Final Fantasy? Oh, that's right...because they know idiots like me will buy them over and over and over again.

I agree, Gorvi. I'm glad to have an alternate way to play the extra content, since for some reason I never was inclined to get After Years on WiiWare.

This seems like a good package. I gather buying the entire After Years on WiiWare was quite an expensive process.

If I still had my PSP I'd be all over this despite owning it on the DS (which I adore).

Huh, glad I waited. Hopefully this will hit North America. Oh wait, I don't own a PSP...

I'd love to see this on PSN and XBLA.

Hey now. I loved the chibi look of FF3/4DS. :<

Anyways, as for this collection, I have three words: Do. Fucking. Want.

I don't have full access to our family's Wii, which I have The After Years on, but only the first three tales (meaning the main game) and it'd take $28 to get the rest of the tales. Don't really feel like spending that kind of money on a system I can't even play half the time. Also, having portable 2D FFIV would be delicious, since FFIVA is an atrocity. Not to mention portable TAY. It would make getting through that final dungeon with all the series rehash bosses a lot more tolerable.

Aww man, I'll probably end up buying this game for a fourth time...

Did The After Years on the Wii have 2D graphics like the older versions, or was it 3D super-deformed like the DS?

I'm pretty sure they were 2D graphics, tweaked from the mobile phone version (which in turn were adapted from SNES FFIV).

I think I'm the only one in the world who loved the DS remake.

Same here. I hate missing out on some great games because I just didn't enjoy the form factor of my PSP.

I liked it... I just never got very far in it. Which is typical for me when it comes to playing a JRPG these days, of course that does not stop me from buying them. >_<

CG trailer with some small snippets of gameplay:

It looks like the game is using an engine similar to what was used for the FF1/FF2 remakes.

I'll pick this one up on sale on PSN. I've beaten FFIV once and own it 3 times now.

IV was originally II in the US, the one that has only come here as the DS remake is III.

Cool thanks, I liked II. I will definitely be picking this up if it comes out here.

Square doesn't really like putting their PSP games on the PSN. They're putting FF1 and FF2 on the PSN in Europe, but nothing else has gone up or is announced to go up.

It's coming April 19.

They're very spotty with that. Tactics Ogre was up last night, so who knows if this will be there or not.

Those graphics look SHARP.

Wonder what Zeromus looks like in HD?

A few details from Siliconera (http://www.siliconera.com/2011/03/07/little-factoids-about-final-fantasy-iv-the-complete-collection/):
Final Fantasy IV: The Complete Collection has includes three games: Final Fantasy IV, Final Fantasy IV: The After Years, and a brand new Interlude episode. Through the main menu, players can choose any storyline to play as soon as they unwrap the PSP game.

So, you can start in the middle with the Interlude, try out The After Years, and then go back to the beginning of the Final Fantasy IV saga. The only exception is you must complete the first episode of The After Years to open the other episodes, which can be played in any order.

The options menu also lets players choose between the original music and rearranged soundtrack. You can also select the game’s language from English, French or Japanese. The English translation is based on the Game Boy Advance version. Extra event scenes made for the Nintendo DS remake are not included in the game. This game does not have the augment system, which was made for Final Fantasy IV on the DS, either.

Final Fantasy IV: The Complete Collection uses unedited art based on the Japanese version, which means some enemies have slightly different sprites. The game has an art gallery with character and enemy art to unlock. While some of the pictures will be familiar to fans, Square Enix said there is some new artwork to see in The Complete Collection.

I hope the arranged version sounds better than it did on the DS. The original SNES recording blows it out of the water, considering when it was done.

The US doesn't get the awesome special edition that Europe gets, but we do get some cards packed in with the game (http://www.rpgfan.com/news/2011/1302.html):

I want this so bad. I think I'll have finished my replays of 2 and 3 by the time it comes out, too!

Which brings something up: Why didn't they remake 3 for PSP? :P

And do you think we'll get the same love with 5 and 6? Probably not.
