Joystiq is posting a live-blog-style review of Resistance 2 (http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/03/joystiqs-real-time-review-resistance-2/). Follow along with regular, non-spoilerish updates as their reviewer plays through the game on the 'Normal' difficulty.
It won't be a marathon, so expect updates over the next few days. There will be a button at the top of Joystiq, so finding me again won't be tough. This also won't be a blow-by-blow of what happens to me in the game, so don't worry about spoilers. Expect only a gut reaction to what I play as I play it, just like a real review, but without all the deep thought and contemplation.
Thus far, it seems like he's really enjoying the boss battles.

Awesome idea... For page hits and ad impressions.

Well, after only 3.5 hours he's done for today. So you can go look at it now and get all of the content without sacrificing your Internet Ideals.
What I've gleaned from his impressions is that the game is a lot of fun, has a lot of variety, and rewards smart tactics.

Is anyone here from the Bay Area planning on going to the Resistance 2 launch event tonight at the Metreon? I thought about it, but I don't care about Resistance enough to wait outside in the cold for the game and some swag. :(

But it's swag you can give away. Or give to people who didn't get a t-shirt at PAX...not that said person is asking or anything...(please get me a t-shirt! I'll play co-op with you)

I walked by at around 8pm and the store was shut down and everything was set up but didn't see anyone waiting outside. Maybe they were all inside but for every other event there at midnight, I've seen people outside.

Sorry, Rougey... I didn't end up going. Since it's past midnight, I'm sure the line's starting to move and people are getting their swag. :(

Huh, weird. Yeah, the last two times I went to events at the Metreon, they were packed several hours before, and the lines wrapped all the way around the block and down the next blocks (though, to be fair, the last event I went to was the Kojima signing). Odd that you didn't see anyone outside.

Joystiq now has a live webcam up during the second day of their 'realtime review.' Unfortunately, the camera only shows the guy playing it, not the actual game. I guess that's essentially spoiler-proof, although I can't imagine anything more dull.

I considered going to the Metreon event...briefly. But it was at midnight on a "school night" and I don't live in the city :(
EDIT: rinichanraar, the Valkryia Chronicles event at the Metreon wasn't really all that packed. At least compared to what you saw at the Kojimo signing.

I just watched some of the video clips in GameSpy's review and the game looks stellar. I can't wait for this weekend!

I'm very much looking forward to diving into the single player tonight, I really like what I've seen and heard about it so far.

I suppose the past two events I went to were pretty high profile in comparison. Kojima was at the last one, and Darth Vader was at the one I went to before that. :p

Even the God of War PSP event had a bigger line from what I saw (I walk past the Playstation store every day at the same time). Is there any video of the event last night?

Played til.... too late last night. I'm paying for it today with only 3 hours of sleep. Totally worth it, though.

I haven't seen any videos of it, but I haven't really tried to find any. I'll be kind of upset if there was no crowd there at all because it'd mean I probably should've just gone. I avoided it because I didn't feel like dealing with a crowd. If that's the case, then maybe it just wasn't publicized well enough. I found out about it that same afternoon.
... I probably should've just gone.
Really awesome idea for a quick review format. I saw it when it first went up, but I'll go back to check it out in full.
Just finished another level and fought one of the gigantic Chimera and it was frigging incredible, epic even. That said, I think I'm about done with reviewing the single player. I feel like it's probably drawing to a close and I think you and I both have a good idea of what to expect.
So he got partway through and quit, and that's the review?
