Since it looks like it was made in Japan will we be able to find it on the US servers?

Because the time investment and knowledge needed is far less?

LBP's servers host the user-created levels, so in essence, all user-created levels are "region-free."
That was fraking awesome. LBP = GoTY.

That's like saying why not learn JAVA and write your own calculator.. sure you could do it, but it wouldn't be so unbelievably cool!!

This game is like Be Kind Rewind for games. I have played excellent sweded versions of many classic games, most funny, and you can tell they are made with love.

Wow, I have no idea how he even did that. I need to play with the level creator more. This is truly impressive in what it shows about its flexibility.

If you want to play it just search for rrr30000, that's the guy's username who made it. He's got some other rather unique levels, too.

Hey, that was sweet. I need to get around to picking this up, figured I'd wait awhile until the server issues are ironed out and more user-created goodness is available.

We need a sweded version of Robocop vs Terminator, Metal Gear Solid and Resident Evil. Preferably side-scrolling version of the zombie level from Conker's Bad Fur day for the latter.

I haven't had any server issues since the 1.03 patch, and there is a TON of user content out there. I'd pick it up now.:D

I played a couple Metal Gears and Resis in the beta.

I showed it to my seven-year-old and asked her what she thought. She said:
"Hmmmph. I don't know!" And she went right back to what she was doing (a maze in her maze book).
I thought it looked remarkably cool, but in terms of gameplay, there were obvious "safe" zones that just made it look incredibly easy to play (not to build, mind...to play).
So...the enjoyment would probably be for the creative, to build a level like that. Playing this particular "level" didn't look like much of a challenge.
*This is the opinion of a Gradius III addict, too. Of ALL the games I played in the 90s on consoles, only a few stand out: Gradius III, SF II, Zelda, FF III.*

With that level it's not the challenge, it's just that it's rather cool what he was able to do with it. Now, some of his other levels, those are a challenge, at least if you want a good score. The guy definitely has some talent.

So...what are you looking to get out of user-created levels?

If I'm going to play it, I'd like some moderate challenge, and there isn't any on this one. It's well done and certainly takes one back to Gradius (III in particular, for me), but that would wear off quickly for me. As Gorvi said, however, there are other user-levels that do present a greater challenge.
A level like this one is really more enjoyable for the creator, and to check it out once or twice, than it would be to play.

A lot of this game is more about seeing / creating cool stuff then blisteringly hard platforming. At least, for me it is.

Seeing the cool stuff is fun, but I love the levels that give you a good challenge. Then again, I seek out games that are "kick you in the face" hard.

There are probably levels like that available, but making LBP versions of favorite games is very popular so there is a lot of that to sift through too. Maybe sticking to levels with the "complex" or even "frustrating" tag would help.

This is completely badass. I love the potential for LBP as a platform for creativity, but I really dislike the core game itself. LBP feels very creative, but sloppy and frustrating to play.
I love the scene in the video where his 'bullet' falls to kill a second enemy. Awesome!

Exactly. Watching this video is great for creativity and nostalgia, but not exciting for gaming. It is the same as looking at retro-gaming art such as GTA on an Etch-a-Sketch (http://www.xbox360fanboy.com/2008/05/01/gtaiv-box-art-etch-a-sketched/).

That's the word I was searching for earlier. I've been finding lately that I have a hard time coming up with words (despite my prolific post count) at times, and I wonder if I have a brain tumor...or early onset of Alzheimers. No...I'm not really sure that I'm kidding. Might want a doctor's check-up. :(

It is easy to have a high post count with a small vocabulary. Simply paste the following text into all future posts and know it will help everyone understand your message that much more.

Oh, there are some good tough levels out there, I was just referring to this one. And even still, the challenge in a lot of the easier levels isn't so much just getting through them, but getting a high score.
