Hothead games, the developers of Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness, have announced that Episode 2 of the series has gone gold.

Happy enough? The news gets better. They're cutting the price of the game, from $20/1600 MS points to $15/1200 MS points. Pricing for the PSN version is still pending, but expect a similar drop. The madcap Penny Arcade experience continues in Episode Two where gamers return to the deranged 1920s universe of New Arcadia and rejoin Gabe and Tycho of the Startling Developments Detective Agency to visit crazy new areas, combat bigger and badder enemies, solve even more wacky puzzles and get ever closer to unraveling the mystery in the sinister heart of New Arcadia.

Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness: Episode 2 is scheduled for release sometime this fall.

Good of them to cut the price a bit. I enjoyed the first episode, so I'll be picking this up.

Hopefully this means a price drop for the first episode, as I've been holding back for just such an occasion.

I guess I'll have to finish the first now. I like it and everything, but I never played much of it for some reason.

I wonder if they'll drop the price of the first game, or run some kind of bundle. I love PA but never played past the demo for the first game.

Good stuff. I really did feel like the title should have been at $15 for the value I got out of it (still great, just short).

I think I was hoping for a price drop of the original (or a bundle as well).

I'm pretty excited about this. I loved the full installment (even for the full price), and the price drop makes this even more of a must-buy for me.

I look forward to it, I really loved the first one! I would have been willing to drop another $20 for the next episode, but $15 is fine by me :)

So will we see it up on XBLA and PSN first, then Steam a few weeks later, like the first game?

I liked Ep1 a lot. The sense of humor was PA, cranked up a few levels of weirdness. I really enjoyed the main game mechanics though, once I got used to them. I struggle a lot with "active" RPG systems where I'm trying to sort through menus while also paying attention to blocking and things like that, but I got the hang of it eventually. I'm definitely looking forward to Ep2.

I've been waiting on a price drop for the first game for a long time, hopefully this will bring it on. I'm still mad at myself for missing the week that Ep1 was half price.

Great! I can't wait for episode 2. Buying the first episode was something I have never regretted. (I got about 8 hours out of it)

I got Ep1 for PC, but my computer can't play it (it's a pos IBM Thinkpad with a crappy video card). They hinted at a WiiWare version of the game. Let's hope they finally go that route sometime, because as things stand right now, I'll never get a chance to play it. :p

I'm hoping that there will be a bundle package on steam. I never got around to picking up the first one so I'd like to give it a try.

I love the idea of a game going gold for digital distribution.

I'd love to know the release date, though. So I can get it day one, and all.

I enjoyed the demo for the first quite a bit but until I can get a hard copy of the game (possibly when it's complete) I'm going to wait.

I still need to play the first one. I am going to pick it up this weekend.

Same here. I dug the demo and picked up the full version but never played beyond the second level. I should really go back and play it all the way through before the floodgates open in a couple of weeks.

This will be a great play. I just replayed Episode One last week and still enjoyed every minute of it.

That's because you're slow ;)

I'm never really have a place in my heart for Turn-style / AP RGPs, but this game series has FUN written all over it. My favorite part was killing the clowns towards the end of the game.

How they'd keel over and fall on their backs, and just before they died they shot up a middle finger and a bike horn would play. Just tickled me pink

Oh yeah... MULTI-QUOTE & SPOILER TEST FTW!!

Is the price cut now? Or do I have to wait till the games comes out? If it's cut now I may just pick it up tonight.

This is a little overdue. Looking forward to this next episode for sure, even I found the first one a tad easy...

I loved the first one, was worth the price for me, as I just consider it an auxiliary way of supporting PA.

The dialogue with Annarchy was so great, as was the cat licking itself attack.

Nice, I was afraid they were going to keep charging $20 each time. I did enjoy the first one, even if it was a little on the short side.

I think $20 was reasonable as a 'test the waters price'. I mean they had no idea how it was gonna sell, the same as they had no idea how many people would turn up for the first PAX. You always get a lot of people saying they'll buy it, but that figure almost never translates to sell. Now that they know how popular it is in terms of sales they can afford to drop the price. I couldn't honestly see PA nakedly profiteering and keeping it at the same price, but that's just me.
