Just curious as to an updated poll showing which version of Left 4 Dead everyone is getting.

If we do i didn't see it, will look again. I know we had one at EvAv but I never saw one here.

I don't mind voting PC again! I'm just in a voting sort of mood for some reason.

Its in the general gaming section (or was) putting the vote in either the PC section, or console section will result in skewed results.

I'm a PC. And I will play L4D.
I'm a PC, and I enjoy mods.

I'm in the minority, 360 for me.
PC for me. The only real life friend that I will play with will buy it for the PC so thats what I'll buy it for.

PC. Well, I still don't own a 360 yet, but even if I did have one, TF2 suggests that the PC version will be the way to go.

PC = free content updates, more valve love, and better controls for the fast-paced zombie action.

Ahhh thank you so much for finding the old thread, I couldn't remember if it was made here or at evav. Well I think this answers any questions anyone would have had about where the majority are going to be playing this. Sorry for the redundancy, I swear I searched for the old one and didn't see it. Ohhh well,

I'm probably going to pick this up on PC. I missed the TF2 bandwagon, so I'm hoping to get in on this earlier.
My graphics card is pretty mediocre though, so I'm hoping this runs well. If the demo runs really poor, I might just pick this up for 360 instead.

Depends. If my friends get it it will be 360. If they don't get it I'll get the Pc version and get some new friends.

Completely undecided. A number of my friends are getting the 360 version. I and another friend want the PC version. Unfortunately my PC is in severe need of an overhaul... as is my employment status.

They reduced the directions zombies will come at you simultaneously on the console version to make up for using a controller.

I voted PC, natch. I don't even have a 360. Odds are quite high I will be getting this game, sorry to those who thought they were finally rid of me. Since there isn't a machete in this game, I'll just have to shove zombies to death. Bring it on, Tank! :D

I just don't have any RL friends who own a PC that can play it, but almost all of my RL friends have a 360. That made it an easy choice for me.

As mentioned the all knowing console deems it a club.
The Kukuri/Machete is a lie!
Edit: PC, I don't own a 360 but I don't know why you would get it on the 360 if you have a computer that can run it even half assed, the computer doesn't have to be magic thats just a bonus.

Quick derail. Here's the German boxart (http://www.left4dead411.com/news/2008/11/sunday-l4d-update/) for L4D:
http://i36.tinypic.com/14y73pc.jpg
The German box art will feature a temporary "low violence cover" in some retailers during the Christmas shopping season. It's the box art but with a thumb, and is super duper awesome. The German version of Left 4 Dead will also feature green blood and no helpless enemies (zombies sitting or lying).
I now return you to the original thread. Sorry about the derail, but this is just too funny.

I have almost no money, but I just preordered via Steam! Wewt!
Also just checked a few days ago and my laptop runs TF2 flawlessly, which means it will run L4D just fine! Which means I can play all I want at my girlfriends house, huzzah!

I really wish more games would allow cross platform play. I mean fucking Shadowrun did it, and since your all on the same team there really isn't any balancing you have to do.

I'm pretty sure he's talking about play between the 360 and PC. :D
L4D did do it at one point. Gabe talked about how during development Valve tested it and got cross-platform play working quite well. They ultimately decided against it so Valve could pump out PC updates through Steam whenever they wanted without having to wait for Xbox certification.

I'm pretty sure that was in reference to the comment that players are all on the same team. :)
...and from what I understand, there are two separate modes. There's the primary mode (4-player) where all the players are on the same team. There's also an 8-player mode with players split between zombies and survivors, but I don't think it plays like the standard mode.

You can get it on steam, you just have to wait longer then the people who pre-order it.
Edit: At least that is more understanding, pre-order get it on the 6th with other people allowed to get it on the 11th.

Awesome RPS preview (http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2008/11/04/eight-hands-on-left-4-dead-impressions/) with great details:
Okay – the way which it isn’t like Doom is what pleases me most. That it’s not a Doom Tribute – it’s a thoroughly modern game. When I first played Left 4 Dead almost two years back, I was the person least impressed I knew – I thought it felt kind of retro. Elements like climbing ladders didn’t seem to have proper animation on them and it was basically just people running at you.
Not true anymore. Or, at least, not true any more in any way which matters. The standard infected run is totally a next-generation futurist run. There’s a sense of momentum to them which I haven’t seen in the medium before – it’s best shown when they manage to flank you, and a half dozen burst from the tree-line en masse. Their run animation is particularly a marvel – catching one when they run in a parabolic arc, curving towards you is totally convincing. Seeing them clamber. Seeing them – best of all – get shot, with you catching a limb and them tumbling, their mass and speed carrying them onwards.
I am really impressed with the way the Infected in L4D lean into corners and seem to actually have mass.
