So, I have two identical drives. I want to create a mirrored raid array, I believe it's RAID 1.

This is on a second computer with two 750gb drives.

The biggest issue is that I cannot format the first disk since it already has data on it (maybe 50gb), plus it has windows settings and all that. There's not much data, but I want to preserve everything on there already.

Help me COGgers!

Does your motherboard support RAID at all or are you intending on doing this in Windows?

The motherboard does indeed support RAID. It's essentially brand new.

You'd have to create 2 dynamic disks and create a mirror on the second. This is the software solution though I'm not sure of how available it is on XP/7.

This man speaks truth. In disk management you do this - you can make a basic disk a dynamic disk. Lots of articles out on the net on how to do this.
