Brilliant game, awesome developer studio who totally deserve the success. Lets hope to see more gems like this in the future from CDP.

I fucking loved this game. Fallout has a high mark to surpass the Witcher for the best RPG of 08.

Should I get this, or will the boobie content cause my wife to go apoplectic? I was checking out the "enhanced" retail version yesterday and thinking...
it's an action RPG, yes?

its one of the best rpgs ever made and i'm glad that it's not been over looked... if you've not played it get the enhanced edition beacuse it's frankly awesome... if you get the US one then there are no boobies and there's only a few cards you'll pick up if your not trying

If you nab a US version, you need to actively grab a patch to get the nudie cards. Outside of those topless cards, the sexual elements are on par with a daytime soap. We are not talking Kratos in a hot tub here.

Well in that case, I'll hold my cards close to my vest! ;) I'm going to get it, because not only does it have solid review, but people around here have been talking it up for what seems like ages! That's a nice one-two combo.

Well, then I just changed my mind. Not enough skin. ;)
I kid. I do have to be respectful of my wife's comfort in what I play; I'm no prude, but I do avoid some games (pretty rare, really) that would make me uncomfortable if she were watching, because she would be uncomfortable with it. Sometimes, however, I just suggest she not watch.

Good decision. I'm only a couple chapters into the game but its great so far. When you go to the store (assuming you're going brick&mortar) be sure to grab the Enhanced Edition. I know it'd be a difficult mistake to make what with the box being more awesome than the standard edition but oddly enough the Enhanced Edition is cheaper than the original box (at least everywhere I've been).
Also I know how you feel Johan, I haven't changed any of my buying decisions since I've gotten married but I do consider which games I play when she's around.

Definitely a great game, I'm glad to hear it sold well.
Cause you know, PC games never sell anymore, they're just pirated.

It's an awesome game! And I am so very glad CDProjektRED are getting the success they deserve!
On another note, why do wives/girlfriends mind video game boobies? Do they forward sex scenes in movies too? :o

I am expecting a sequel. A very important aspect to the game's central plot is left hanging at about Chapter V.
It is a slow burn Johan, but the second half finishes like a tidal wave.

I still kinda think The Witcher is better, the world is smaller, less detailed, but the combat, animations and plot are much better.

Proof that good games sell despite how obscure the IP may be or how slow the platform is. Fantastic game. Best RPG I've played in a long while.

thats a hard one - i like both though fighting in witcher was not really satisfying (but much better than the gothic 3 abormination)

You might want to keep the volume down then. Much of the dialogue is real world stuff; especially when talking with the dregs of society in the game. I was a bit surprised when I asked a dwarf blacksmith why humans were racist against dwarfs. His response: "I don't know, why do <male sex organs> go in <female sex organs>?" And it was the crudest of terms that you've heard.
But hey; That's life! :D

Very good for CDP, they deserve it. If anyone has not purchased this game and they are a RPG fan, buy this.. you are missing out.

Ya the first hour or so really isn't indicative of the rest of the game and things can feel a bit slow until the 2nd half... but i enjoyed the first chapter in it's own way and the rest of the game is simply stunning... There has been no other game like it in terms of making you feel the impact of your choices if a way that makes sense... in that unexpected things may happen down the line that you never intended beacuse something you did effected some one else... i don't even think fallout 3 will be able to match it in that respect

The Prologue starts fast, but then it plods on a bit as you get your feet wet. Here is a sword, now go kill dudes. I still feel that Chapter II and the detective work is the game's shining moment and the pule of the Sephirot was really fun.. It is the densest part of the game, the obvious climax.

the detective part is great - i demand more games to be like that (a cthulhu one would be nice - a good one)

I'm glad to see them hit one million. Honestly though, I thought they would have hit that a while ago. Too bad it took this long. But at least it did happen.

Keep in mind that both the old and new SKUs for The Witcher did a little over 100K combined in the US according to NPD. Of course, that number does not include digital distro, so I expect the true NA sales number to be a bit higher.

I still gotta play more. I bought it when it first came out and then set it down to wait for EE and now I've been playing it on my laptop (looks GREAT on medium settings BTW) and been going through it rather slowly because of Warhammer. I'm in the middle of Vizima, haven't made it to the swamps yet (where I got to when I first bought it).

The combat is crap at first but gets much better as your character levels. Probably my PC GOTY last year.
