Atari and Obsidian Entertainment have announced that the second expansion to Neverwinter Nights 2, Storm of Zehir, has gone gold.

This 20-30 hour campaign introduces a 3D overworld map, allowing for open world exploration of the Sword Coast of Toril. The expansion also introduces several new classes (Swashbuckler, Hellfire Warlock) spells, powers and races. This expansion also introduces new Teamwork Benefits; skills and powers used exclusively in party settings.

Neverwinter Nights 2: Storm of Zehir is set for release on November 18th for the PC.

I wonder if this means Neverwinter 2 will finally be on Steam. I think they announced it in April.

I'm waiting for NWN2 to get a "platinum" edition like '1' did, and then I'll dive right in! I loved (still love) the first one! :)

Pfft...I'm waiting for the Diamond edition ;)

I would love to play this game, but I just haven't had the time, especially considering I haven't completed The Witcher, Fallout 3 or Oblivion yet...or even NWN1's second expansion (Shadows of Underdeep?)

If this comes out on Steam I'll be picking it up as another game on my to-do list

I'll probably pick it up. I loved the first expansion.

Hopefully this expansion won't destroy my soul by allowing me to get 80% of the way through and then crashing every time I try and enter an area I need to go to.

I still haven't finished the first one, let alone the second. Then there's the Witcher, Fallout 3, Fable 2, Bioshock (yeah yeah), on and on and on and on.

Ugh, I just need some time alone (a few years) to catch up on all of these games!

I hear you Mag. But Mask of the Betrayer, the first expansion is just awesome. It's a whole lot better than the first campaign which is slow in the beginning. MotB on the other hand is leagues ahead. I love it!

Am really looking forward to this one too. 19 more days!

I've heard good things about Mask of the Betrayer. I'll check it out...some day. ;)

I am interested in Storm of Zehir, 6 player campaign co-op where everyone votes on what talking option to use... at least that is how I think it is, but it's apparently 'good shit'. And I could use a co-op RPG that is not an MMO.

What sucks about NWN2 co-op is that you can't play over a LAN. You need internet and that sucks. I love local co-op but too many games are eschewing that in favour of online, why can't they do both!

They can, but one option basically requires everyone have their own legit copy by it's very long-distance nature. The other option doesn't. ;)

I really want to like the NWN games, but it's just always been a poor idea to try and adapt D&D rules to real-time gameplay. The end result is the worst of both worlds, not just because developers have to cut out most of the fun stuff for practical reasons, but also because D&D has a lot of implicit rules that the DM is supposed to enforce which can't be translated. MotB had to add a whole new crazy game system to keep you from sleeping after every fight, let's recall.

While admittedly, a real-time game can't include every element from the pen n paper game but I always felt the Bioware/Black Isle people brought us really, really good D&D adaptations.

Why do you call the MotB sleep thing crazy? I thought the only thing wrong with it was that you should be able to have an extended rest/sleep once every 24 hours instead of whenever you wanted. Your spirit meter went haywire because of the 8 hour lapse, it was affected similarly by travelling and general lapse of time as well. I thought what was crazy was the 5 second 'rest' in the Official Campaign, which made things too easy.

Storm of Zehir is going to be more interesting because the Open World aspect is going to make better use of search, spot, listen, hide, track and other abilities not utilised much in the other titles.

Telefrog: So it's okay for pirates to play singleplayer campaigns but not co-op over LAN, and what about legitimate owners who can't do online multiplayer because of crappy internet speed!

Also, I just realised I was wrong about the LAN, since my internet is too slow for online multiplayer, I never went into those options and only found out today that the LAN gaming options also lie beyond the Bioware account 'log in' screen.

Shadows of the Underdark, and you really should play it; that was my favorite NWN campaign.

That is the one expansion I never bought.

Hey, I have no quarrel with you. My stance on DRM is skewed hard towards the consumer rather than the publisher.

I'm just telling you why LAN gaming options have fallen out of favor over the years.
