View Full Version : Regrets, I've had a few...

Most recently, introducing a guy at work to Texts from Last Night (I'm not linking to it).
I can only put up with tales of implausibly drunk guys and slutty woman for 20 minutes or so at a time... I've had to put up with him messaging me 'highlights' for the past 3 hours.
Aside from that I have no other regrets, actually...

Almost anything thing I've ever said out loud that I found funny. I just have a very inappropriate sense of humour.

I don't have any regrets.
As long as you learn the lesson from what happened and don't repeat the same decision, it's a worthwild experience.

For the first 3 or so posts of this thread, I thought everyone was copying Texts From Last Night posts just to spite the OP. Then I realized that they were real situations that you guys regret. Oops.

I'm in agreement with this. We have enough thoughts that keep us from achieving what we want. Reflection on past decisions could be easily seen as "positive" instead of something negative (regret).

My list is of regrets is very, very long. I have a nifty little catalog in my head of bad decisions I've made -- it's designed to stop me making new bad ones. And I mean a very long list. There are a lot of situations I've handled poorly and people I've hurt.
But my list of regrets is also very, very short, because when you get right down to it I love where I am right now and I love what I'm doing. Apparently the bad decisions didn't hurt me too much. Although they did delay development of social skills to my sophomore year of college. :D
I guess I'll go with no regrets for now.

Smoking is probably my biggest regret. 16 years and probably 50 grand down the toilet to say nothing of the hell of quitting and the 20lbs I gained and almost 3 years later, haven't lost.
Oh and I regret breaking my nose as a kid as I still don't breathe right, which sucks.

Regrets are very heavy to live with, I don't regret anything I've done--and I've had my fair share of massive fuck-ups. I just wouldn't be the person I am now, without those fuck-ups.

I have a sneaky-suspection that there's probably more than a few folks around here who got reports like that.

2 things.
Lying to my grandparents right before their death. Resulting in me not being with them when they passed. This basically set my rule of never ever lying. You never know how that will burn you and I would rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not.
A fight I had while younger when I had NO impulse control on how far I should take it. Thousands and thousands of dollars later and I can say being sued is possibly the most horrible, stressful, jarring thing to happen. It gives me a sick stomach thinking about it

Yeah, it's something I'm still working on to this day. The rational part of my mind says, "Get off your ass and do something constructive." The rest of my brain says, "Sit here, it's very comfortable and this is fun and interesting." Sadly, the latter is VERY persuasive.

Well yeah but even the most resolute of us couldn't resist that. You'd have to have an iron soul or just no soul at all to not make a funny comic!

Thanks for the new desktop background. My boss will sadly INSTANTLY know what caused this to be made. But thats my lot in life.
And her butt is awesome hahahaha
Yesterday our group meeting ended with me telling a coworker who was dropping bombs on everyone to shut the fuck up for a minute so we can all realize how much of an ass he was being.
In my inbox this morning was second notice of unacceptable behavior in 2 weeks...sigh.

I really screwed up my schooling from about junior year of high school forward, including wasting a ton of time and money in college getting a degree that I'll never use. However, it was when I hit rock bottom in school that I started working part time at the company that I'm currently working for full time in a much higher position than I could have gotten normally.

The common laziness in education, I blame the system's need to drain all interest and joy out of everything so you're a good little slave who can't think for themselves. It wasn't until I dropped out of school did I actually begin to enjoy reading and learning about shit.
It's an amazing world out there, but you wouldn't know it from formal education.

I regret a few things that I did not do (not traveling internationally more, and giving up on school in High School and not working harder), which is totally human. Anyone who says they regret nothing about their life so far is lying to themselves, or an infant.

Really, can't it just be that they're happy with the way their life has turned out? Every experience in mine - good and bad - has had some indelible impact on my development... change one thing, and I could change everything.

You're suggesting that having regrets means you are unhappy. I'm quite happy right now, yet I still have regrets. I'm not going to look back and say "That trip I could have taken to Spain, where all my friends had a great time and formed really close relationships that lasted for years. Man, I'm totally happy that I wasn't there with them!". That's ridiculous. A part of you is going to regret that you never went, even if you have a big group of close friends now.

I have a few regrets but none of it was so bad - all have gotten me to where I am in life. And life is good!
I have 2 real regrets: 1) anything I have done that has hurt anyone else (that didn't deserve it) and 2) smoking. God, I hated smoking as much as I loved it. So much wasted money and health.

I think my biggest regret is falling behind. I keep getting side track with just bumming around. I mean I have a great origin story for why it happens, but that's besides the point. Catching up is hard but the more I look at it the more I'm convinced I can still get ahead of myself.
I think I owe the world an apology for slacking and I hope I can make it up to you all. :)

Have a good mind to go to the warden about this. You know what hurts the most is the... the lack of respect. You know? That's what hurts the most. Except for the... Except for the other thing.
