View Full Version : What game is this quote from?

So we've done similar threads before, but I thought I'd put a twist on the idea.

Post a game quote, the first person to answer correctly posts the next one. So on and so on.

I'll start with an easy one:

"Rise from your grave."

Altered Beast.

"I hate stairs."

SilentScreams

Shit, I should know that, I think I even played it very recently. Assassin's Creed 2?

Nope. :)
It's a pretty old game.

Left 4 Dead?

"Einstein would turn over in his grave. Not only does God play dice, the dice are loaded."

Alpha Centauri, I'm pretty sure. Probably from Academician Prokhor Zhakarov (guessing on the spelling there).

So many awesome quotes from that game.

SilentScreams
09-07-2010, 01:36 PM
I think I picked one that was too hard too early.
I know quite a few people on here love the game though, so somebody should get it.

Correct on both counts. :)

It was easier answering the question than choosing a new quote, so here goes:

"I have recommended your services to my... employers, and they have authorized me to offer you a job."

I have to admit, my guess was formed purely by narrowing down my options to games involving a female protagonist and a town.

Tomb Raider? Hell, I can't think of many franchises with female leads. Of course, that's assuming this is a quote directed at the main character.......

I had no idea, so I googled it out of curiosity and was glad that it was a game that I never played. It's definitely a popular one though, just not a series that I ever got into. I'm kind of surprised it's taken this long.

It's one of my fave franchises too, Duke.

Sir, you insult me!

It was spoken by Aaron at the beginning of the game as you walk into a hallway, his ghost floating and reading a book. If it happens before you meet with the Eldest Covenant (Jeremiah?) or a little afterwards, I can't recall. But it happens really early in the game, as well as the demo.

Jim Thompson's works, the Long Goodbye, The Player, Farewell My Lovely, Blade Runner, Sin City (though this is a bit exaggerated and might count as parody), Reservoir Dogs, Heist . . .

I see plenty of neo-noir out there, personally. Shit, I've been rewatching a lot of Stargate recently, and there's a lot of influence there on some of the cinematography. One of their shooters is a real noir fan, and it comes out strong on some episodes.

I think we are confusing crime-noir, Hard boiled fiction and film-noir here. I was talking about the former, something like the PArker novels. Though I'll give you Blade Runner and Sin City.

"I'll show them," J Arcane muttered to himself. "Come to my town and try to tell me what noir is?"

He tossed his cigarette on the sidewalk and ground it with his sole as the nicotine and bourbon ground his life further into the gutter. He re-holstered Delilah, still smoking slightly from the three bullets, now lodged in Muddi's skull.

"These CoG boys are getting to be more trouble than they're worth."

You are wasting yourself on game development.

TFO thought about this, then did some stuff involving games and smoking and metaphors (also he was in Chicago).

Darn it, broke the streak.

I don't even know where to begin with that one. It's almost like posting 'War'

...Sure everyone knows it's Fallout, but WHICH Fallout?!?

Actually, it's only one game. Fine. Shadowrun SNES, when you pick up the crazy dwarf runner.

Someone else can go.

Let me guess, you inexplicably keep the solution somewhere really dangerous.
