SEGA has opened up a teaser site called Code 1935 (http://code1935.jp/) with a note saying "Not to be opened till 9.16", which just so happens to be the day before TGS opens. So is this a teaser site for Valkyria Chronicles 3?

Those sure as hell look like VC characters, and the font fits perfectly. 1935 just so happens to also be the year that the original Valkyria Chronicles took place.

I'm going to guess it's VC2: Screw You for Buying It on the PSP edition.

I doubt it. The PSP version was designed to be a portable game playable in small chunks, that wouldn't really work as well on the PS3. I'd put money on VC3 for either the PSP or PS3, I'd be happy whichever they decide to do.

The fonts used, the little logo (http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3434/3798272090_93e5941f94_o.jpg) above the main text, all the lancer weapons in the silhouettes...

Sega's hosting the site.

If it's not Valkyria 3, it's some kind of spinoff. And "1935" would not imply a re-release of VC2. And if it were some kind of anime project (there was a series based on the first game), I don't think it would be revealed at TGS.

So, yeah. The question being, on what platform(s) will this new Valkyria game land.

Could it be a re-release/remix? Maybe putting VC1 out for the PSP with the new units, new leveling sysytem, etc added.

VC1 with the sword units would be seriously unbalanced. Plus I really hated that they were a branch of the engineer tree in VC2.

While a PSP port of VC1 is possible, I wonder how they'd handle the cutscenes that aren't FMV. VC2 doesn't have the 3D character models in cutscenes like the first game, and I wouldn't think they would go to the trouble of converting them all to 2D... It would be nice, but would it sell?

A 360 port would also be nice, of course, but my money's still on a new game of some sort.

Fingers crossed for PS3 VC3. PSP's all well and good, but I want them to take advantage of all the hardware power I heard so much about.

According to Joystiq (http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/01/sega-teases-top-secret-valkyria-chronicles-project) the phrase Altaha Abilia 422 in the picture means "Always Ready".

Dear Jeebus,

Please let this be Valkyria Chronicles 3 for PS3. If you make it so, Gorvi will stop touching himself at night.

Amen.

When it's announced or when it's released in the US? ;)

I'm going to assume it's either Valkyria Chronicles 3, or that it could be a spinoff of some sort, such as a cell phone title and whatnot.

I'd have to fly to Japan and introduce someone's head to my steel toed Doc Martens if that were to happen.......

A couple new characters showed up on the Valkyria Chronicles blog. From Siliconera (http://www.siliconera.com/2010/09/09/new-valkyria-chronicles-characters-deployed-on-official-blog/):The official Valkyria Chronicles blog, the one that usually has Edy Nelson and Homer talking to each other, just celebrated its 100th post (http://blog.valkyria.jp/archives/1442895.html), which was interrupted by some surprise guests.

Homer’s older sister barged in with a smug looking fellow behind her. Edy was shocked to learn that Homer had an older sister who has a short fuse. New characters for Valkyria Chronicles 3, perhaps?http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4106/4975105871_630cc1ebff_o.jpg

From the images in the blog, the new characters are named Leila http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4090/4975106099_eeacb18610_o.jpg (Homer Peron's older sister) and Alfons http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4086/4975717532_bf0a4ffe91_o.jpg.

The Valkyria blog has been used to promote both VC games, DLC and related content (the anime, merchandise, crossover appearances, etc.). The blog usually updates Thursdays, and next Thursday (Sept. 16) is when the teaser site (http://code1935.jp/) is supposed to launch. So it makes sense that these would be characters from the next game (VC3 or otherwise).

The art style is closer to the 2D anime style of VC2, though not exactly identical. (Avatars for VC1 characters on the blog look like the 3D models from the game.) Not that this means this art is definitely what's going to be featured in the new game. It could always be early concept art, too.

It looks like SEGA may have let the cat out of the bag (http://playstationlifestyle.net/2010/09/12/sega-slips-up-valkyria-chronicles-3-reveal-at-tgs/) a little early. Either way we'll know Thursday, or probably even earlier, whenever this week's Famitsu leaks as it does pretty much every week.

If they release another VC on the PSP I'll be devastated.
