The new gaming season is upon us. And like every year we´re spoiled for choice. Even though some IP´s made the switch to next year already there´s still plenty to look forward to. So, what games are you buying or are you interested in the most?

5 Should at least be doable with the amount of games coming out. network DLC games included of course.

So here's mine (in order):

1. Castlevania LOS (I know I'm setting myself up for dissapointment here, but sometimes you got to believe in something:))
2. Fable 3
3. Fallout NV (this could have gone to 2 or even 1 if they updated the looks a little more, still hyped)
4. LBP2
5. DR2

Runners up, if I have the time and money:

Naruto UN2, Majin, Enslaved. edit: AC: Brotherhood

And yours?

EDIT: Switched Vanquish for DR2

EDIT 2: Well, there's been changes. It's now

Castlevania LOS
Fable 3
Fallout NV (probably at the end of the year)
Enslaved (the demo sold me)

I don't even have a def. 5 anymore since LBP2 dropped to 2011, but probably either AC: Brotherhood or Majin will fill that slot. Dead Rising 2 I will pick up on sale.

That's really hard.

1. Fable 3
2. Fallout: New Vegas
3. LBP2

I get a bit stuck after that. My other really highly-anticipated games don't come out until next year. So for this year, Cataclysm, maybe? DCUO? I'd love a superhero MMO that actually stays interesting.

Castlevania is looking fantastic... so I'll throw that up as #2,

1. GT5
2. Castlevania LOS
3. LBP2
4. Civ 5
5. Dead Rising 2 i plan on spending time with this

So you're planning on playinng the PC version of XIV, Are you going to stick with that or switch around later?

I wonder if there's an option to bring over your chara's to another system.

It's looking like I'll be able to be around for the PC launch, so yeah. Most likely, anyway. I'll probably still pick up the PS3 version, but I guess that all depends on how well it runs.

If it's anything like XI your characters should be able to be played on any system so long as you log in with your account. I've played my XI character that I started on PS2 on a PC and on the 360, hopefully that's still the case.

Mmm, that might make it interesting to play it on PC, but I really want it on PS3 for couch relaxation mode:P I'll see how it turns out.

Don't make my list longer dammit:D.

Arcania (Gothic 4)
Two Worlds 2
Sly Cooper Collection

That's about it. Enslaved looks good, as does Majin. We'll see.

I HOPE Two Worlds 2 turns out good, as all indications have shown it's light years beyond the first and looks that way too. I hope Arcania turns out good on the consoles...

A guy can hope.

A lot of stuff I care about got pushed to 2011.

1) Fallout LV
2) Civ V
3) assassin's Creed: Brotherhood
4) Guild Wars 2 or DCO.

If we see GW2 this year, I will very happily eat my hat.

Kel, I totally forgot about Arcania, I definitely want to give that a shot.

I had a couple of thoughts about seeing the Sly collection crop out. The immediate thought was "It's pretty bad for gaming that a HD release of last-gen games is going into people's top 5 most wanted lists." The follow on thought was "Well, people get excited about remastered films and albums, why not games?"

Metroid: Other M: (not sure if we consider this holiday)

I might not pick it up for $40. I played through the first game and liked it a lot, played some of the second and that's it. So to me they're kinda like new games. It's not much cheaper to buy them all individually on Amazon, and then I'd have to hook up my PS2 (fuck you Sony!) and it wouldn't be in HD. So while I normally give people grief for rereleases, this seems to be exactly what I want. We have a severe shortage of platformers this generation, so perhaps that's why I'm open to it.

Heck, I'd be supportive of a Jak trilogy at this point as well.

As far as Arcania and TW2 are concerned, I'm open to some CRPG-inspired RPG experiences any day. Two Worlds is a guilty pleasure, as it is a big game full of content and loot and exploration, though it has some big issues. TW2 looks to fix a lot of that AND add a bigger world.

I'm also looking forward to Dead Rising 2, but I want to see reviews on how the game handles co-op. If it has a serious impact on the singleplayer, I'll refuse it outright like I did Lost Planet 2 and Resident Evil. Though unlike RE, this does feel like a game that could rock in co-op, like most zombie games should. But if it really hurts the singleplayer experience, that's a big deal to me. I want BOTH to be good.

I would kick someone's grandmother for this, I'd love an excuse to play through those again, they were great.

I'm not so sure I like what I've read about Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood. The premise seems kinda shallow.

I'm thinking of picking up the Sly collection for pretty much the same reasons, I didn't play them much the first time round and I fancy a good platformer. I'm with you on hoping TW2 is good as well. Thanks to Risen and Gothic 3, I'm really getting into that style of RPG. I much prefer the single-character, direct-control approach to anything party-based and I enjoy the exploration. Maybe I will pick up TW some time; a lot of people said Gothic 3 was shit and I've already got over 30 hours of enjoyment out of it.

I will say one thing for Lost Planet 2; anyone who wants to make a MMO shooter should forget about trying to copy competitive MP stuff and look at LP2 instead. I really don't think that the MMO genre can add anything more to competitive shooters than it has already. If you want to jump online and shoot people, you don't want any fluff getting in the way. Both APB and Planetside stripped away most of the MMO fluff to get people into the action ASAP. The best solutions for that were cracked years ago; they're called server browsers and matchmaking.

Take a shit-ton of character customisation, a really good loot system, LP2-syle co-op giant monster shooting and drop it all into a persistent world. You're half-way to an awesome MMO shooter already.

Oh boy. Tough to keep to five but in the spirit of things I'll do it:

Fable III - These games are pure magic to me.
Two Worlds 2 - It'll soothe an itch that's been waiting to get scratched.
Fallout: New Vegas - More of that world can only be a good thing.
Sly Cooper Collection - I loved these games, so seeing them in one package in HD will be lovely.
Professor Layton and The Unwound Future - Unlike the cruel Gorvi, I'd only shove someone's grandmother for this, not actually give them the boot.

And because I've been waiting for years for this game: LA Noire, if it truly does make it out this year (which I highly doubt which is why it's not in my above list).

Weak holiday. Halo for the Halobots, but that's about it I think. AC: Bloodlines isn't something I'm looking forward too, but that's the other big release other than Fable 3. And Fable 2 sucked, so no care for 3.

Gorvi

This is a relatively weak holiday, Q1 next year looks much better. We can probably thank Kinect and Move for that.

Yeah, 2011 as a whole looks awesome. Rage and Infamous 2 alone have me excited, not to mention Dead Space 2. I was doing a mental tally in some magazines as I was on the can the other day and 2011 had the games I wanted to play most unfortunately.

Other than Halo and maybe Fable 3, I think the industry is going to suffer a bit this holiday season in terms of software. Not good in this economy. Well, actually we have Call of Duty 52, so the big sellers will all be there once again this year. It's turning into a real shitty time of year for games, with the market sales dominated by annual franchises.

1. Rock Band 3
2. Fallout: New Vegas
3. Dead Rising 2
4. Sly Cooper Collection (never played them before, but loved inFamous)
5. Enslaved

Rock Band and Fallout: New Vegas are the only games I am guaranteed to pick up this year. The other ones are all contingent upon reviews and possible demos.

Next year on the other hand looks to have a ton of possibilities.

Last year was very good, but if we´re talking inFamous here I´ll drop in Bayonetta or Mass Effect 2 on this years list as well. A lot of good games we´re released at the start of this year, I can´t say 2009 was the same.

It kinda evens out if you really compare things.

Batman / Castlevania (2 very different ip´s but set up in such a way they could actually make a thing which hasn´t worked before work, plus their both combat action adventures in a Metroidvania developped by a unknown studio)

MW2 / Special Ops or MOH if you like.

AC2 / Brotherhood (it might not be as fresh but I doubt it will be a worse game)

DA - Demon's Souls / , well, by no means really comparable but with games like FFXIV online around we do have some big name RPG in there. Next to TW2, Aracania, etc. Hell even Fable 3 does scratch the medieval itch for some. It does for mine.

Games like Borderlands and Ratchet and Clanck are great, but really not so much better as games coming out this year. Hell I could put in Halo Reach for the shootercrowd who wants co-op and it would be preferred by many.

UC2 was stellar, and probably won't be topped by anything in a long time in the action-adventure genre though even though Enslaved is giving it a shot.

What I'm getting at is that this year really isn't that much worse than last year. hell, November was totally cleared out due to MW2 hitting so all the games I was really interested in where shoved to Q1 2010. Like this year as well actually.

I think a lot of people just don't have a lot of games on their radar yet. Dead Rising 2, Vanquish, Majin, GOW:Ghosts of Sparta, VC2, NFS Hot Pursuit (which is being done by Criterion), etc all have huge potential. I don't see how someone call call it a bad year.

The only thing really missing this year is the flood of usual FPS. I think the genre has found it's champions and has stagnated quite a bit.

Thanks for summing up what I was thinking. The only props I'd give for last holiday season would be Uncharted 2.

If you're including Bayonetta and ME2, why not Darksiders, God of War 3, Heavy Rain, FFXIII... much bigger and better releases in 2010 compared to any other year we've ever seen. Hands down.

inFamous was released earlier than I remember. It shouldn't have been on my list. However, even though I think MW2 was a crappy game, there's no way that MoH or Spec Ops will outsell MW2. I doubt that they'll outsell it together.

I don't buy the idea that Castlevania will be anything more than mediocre. I'll give you AC: Brotherhood though.

Since the games have yet to come out, it's a little unfair to pit this year's line-up against last year's. However, I am excited for fewer games this year than I was last year at this time.

The rest of those games were ok releases, but most of those didn't even come out in the fall/winter like we are talking about. I wasn't talking about all of 09. Batman: AA was released in August and iNfamous in May...

I made a mistake listing inFamous. But Batman: AA was released August 25th last year. That's close enough to the "holiday season" for me. And since today is only the 23rd, it would still be a future release at this point if released this year.

I'm very much looking forward to the beginning of next year, but less so for the few games released between now and the end of the year than I have for the past few years. I've likely been spoiled by some games that had huge expectations (and delivered) for me the past few years: Uncharted 2 last year, Fallout 3 in 08, BioShock (I still count August as the beginning of the holiday season) and The Orange Box in 07.

I dunno, nothing's really looking all that great to me (at least at full price). I'll probably get all stupid excited for Halo or something and buy it (or the new Call of Duty, just because my friends all play it and I want to join them in their merry times, but I seriously don't get the addiction that those games cause in my friends at all and end up playing the multiplayer for a week before selling it back).

I'd say Fallout, but I still haven't completed any of the DLC from Fallout 3. So that would probs be a dumb move.

Yeah, I've been interested in that since I saw a GI article talking about how much effort was going into the character work. But given that we haven't heard a peep about it lately, nor has it made any appearances at the various shows that I know of, I'd be surprised if it kept to that original release date.

Quite some interest in TW2. The previews I read seem a vast improvement but nothing really special in the end.

Still, I could use a game like that. I wish ES5 was somewhere on the horizon.

I actually hope Two Worlds has some of the same cheese. Doesn't look like it, but the game play mechanics on the first was pretty good so it could still be pretty good. I always imagined that during the first game, they had some top notch designers getting their world made buy a bunch of high or drunk people. Kind of like the cartoon of old.

Is it me or is this a weak holiday as far as gaming is concerned?

This is a relatively weak holiday, Q1 next year looks much better. We can probably thank Kinect and Move for that.
I don't know if it's weak or publishers finally learned you can release games other than in the "holiday/fall" season.
This year certainly isn't as big as Q1 was, but I woudln't cal it weak. Lot's of sequels I admit, but if people don't give games like Vanquish, Majin or Enslaved a shot well that won't change.

Well you excited me. I put them on my Gamefly list.

My list looks like others but those that I will buy, probably Fallout: New Vegas, Sly Cooper Collection, AC:TB. This will be a easier season on my wallet...thankfully.

Halo: Reach
Fallout New Vegas
Fable III
Bad Company 2 Vietnam expansion
Little Big Planet

Possibly quite interested in the new Medal of Honour too.

Triple yawn on Halo, Fallout Vegas, and Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood. i especially liked the prequels to the later two, but I a sick of the sequel slog. Fable 3 and DeAd Rising 2 have also failed to prove to me they have much new to offer, but I'm more hopeful on those two and the gameplay wasnt run into the ground like it was during my 90 hours with Fallout 3.

So, my list:

1) Rayman Origins
2) Castlevania: Lord of Shadows
3) Costume Quest
4) Comic Jumper
5) Cave Story 360

I semse a trend. The download space is where the cool is happening. Fresh games Tjat combined will cost me anout the same as one of those uninspired $60 monstrousities.

Honorable mentions: Bonk: Brink of Exinction, Fez, Super Meat Boy, Rusian Attack, Dead Rising XBLA, Sonic 4, Hydrophobia.

I agree DLC the last and coming months has been the best it's ever been, I didn't even know Cave Story, Fez and Costume Quest would hit this year. Sigh, couple that with Deathspank 2 and Dead Rising case zero and I'm running short on cash.

I might just drop the intention of buying the extra games not on my list and wait for a sale on those. But Majin does look awesome and I want to support original stuff like that.

I did place my first pre-order yesterday, Fable 3.

I rarely find games that truly suck. Games I might get bored with, yeah. That's why I rent. A game that i'll rant on about sucking...not to often, so I think you are safe :)

I'll have to keep a separate list for DD games since EG mentioned a few that I want.

OK, Vanquish is out, Dead Rising 2 is in.

I liked Vanquish, at least I liked it better than Gears or something similar. But it's just to much grey metal and guns fo me to take the plunge at full price. I was kinda hoping for something that actually was a bit different, but apart from the sliding and melee combat it's just a better faster version of a game I don't really like that much. It will probably be dead cheap within 3 months as well.

DR2, after Case Zero I just want freaking more.

This list seems fun.

In no particular order:

Dead Rising 2
Civilization V
Hydrophobia
Comic Jumper
Fallout: New Vegas

I am particularly excited for more Fallout, as anyone who knows me knows that I am the most ridiculous Fallout fanboy ever.

Really? I'm hearing it's a mediocre God of War clone, which is exactly what it looks like.

Really? I'm hearing it's a mediocre God of War clone, which is exactly what it looks like.

It's nearly impossible not to reference God of War when describing Lord of Shadow's mix of combat, platforming, and short puzzles. But that description alone would short-change this game considerably, because there is a whole lot more to the latest Castlevania. This is Konami's attempt to return the franchise to the mainstream in a big way. After playing the first eight hours of the game we've broken out the most important reasons to start getting excited about Lords of Shadow.

IGN's take on the first 8 hours. (http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/111/1116188p1.html)

This was the article I was reading last night on Ripten. that sent me straight to Amazon to buy though. (http://www.ripten.com/2010/09/03/hands-on-with-the-final-version-of-lords-of-shadow-and-producer-david-cox-getsome/)

Get a $20 GC with Amazon on either version also. The included soundtrack doesn't look worth $20 either.

God of War is a DMC clone in itself, which is probably a clone of another game. It's a genre, not one game which defines all. And GoW certainly isn't the apex gameplay wise, in setting and spetacle maybe.

The previews are generally really positive, and even if it shouldn't quite make the top tier at least it accoplishes what it set out to do, make Castlevania relevant in 3D. The setting alone scores 2 points extra for me.

Combat sounds a bit Ikaruga for some reason, light vs dark etc. Could be awesome and add needed depth, also good to hear the game is at least 8 hours long.

Stil my number one for this year.

The year of 5s.

Civ5 and GT5 are the sure buys on my list right now, which is a rather massive change from previous years, considering that some years I ended up adding anywhere from 6-12 games to my library. I can't tell if this is just a bad year, or if I Just have other things I'd rather spend my money on (There's a Mesa/Boogie as well as some new car rims and a nice stereo in the near future) Or if I'm finally just getting bored of gaming.

Only Civ 5 at the moment for me.

At the end of the day, Fallout New Vegas is made by Obsidian and they've burned me enough that I'll wait and see.

I am curious to see how NFS: Criterion Edition :) turns out, so I'll keep an eye on it. Ditto with Two Worlds II and Arcania (I need my fantasy rpg fix)

Wow, that first link was very positive. And he's only 8 hours in at level 3 out of 12? Awesome.

I'm going to refine my list since I think I'm going to sub to Gamefly. Test it out again. Games like Force Unleashed 2 greatly interest me but I wouldn't buy it at $60. So I'm adding these to my queue instead.

1) Vanquish
2) Little Big Planet 2
3) Force Unleashed 2

5) Gothic IV
6) Guild Wars 2

9) Enslaved
10) AC: Brotherhood depending on the reviews.

Well, there's been changes.

Mine has changed a bit because of some ISSUES with Two Worlds...

I'm not buying a single game, unless there is an amazing Black Friday sale on something, but the following are on my list to be rented.

1. Enslaved
2. Vanquish (demo sold me)
3. Star Wars: TFU2
4. Sly Cooper (I might actually buy THIS one if there's a good sale, since it's pretty content rich)
5. _____

Gamefly allows me to beat the short games like those on this list and not plop down lots of cash. Longer, deeper games get purchased.

Well, LBP2's delay sorta killed my list. I'm pretty broke, so unless Bioware announces that Ultimate Edition of Dragon Age, I think I'm done with new releases for the year. I may pick up a few cheap games, maybe Resonance of Fate or Just Cause 2 if I can find them for the right price, but that's about it.

Valkyria Chronicles 2, FF14 and Dead Rising 2 were pretty big for me, but since they're all out, here's my list for the rest of the year:

1. Guild Wars 2 (if a 2010 release is to be believed)
2. Little Big Planet 2
3. Castlevania
4. Rock of the Dead
5. God Eater Burst

Other games I'm looking forward to are Patapon 3, SOCOM 4, and Dead Space 2. I want to be excited for Fallout NV, but after Alpha Protocol, I'm skeptical. I'll give them credit for NWN2 though.

I'm pretty sure my girlfriend's going to just play Fable 3 until her Xbox dies.

Just Cause 2 is a game great for stupid destruction. The missions and sidemissions are super fun though. It's a game I wish I had kept just to get a bit buzzed and zone out and blow crap up. I'll pick it up again someday down the road.

Also, do you know if your PC would run DA? I own it for 360 but when I get a PC I think I'm going to repurchase a bunch of the RPGs I have for 360, like DA, Divinity II and Risen. Maybe even Oblivion and Fallout 3 if I can find them cheap.

Yeah, that I don't know. With what I've heard of the second, though, with how it's much more of an action rpg, I'm tempted to pick up DA on the PS3 anyway if only to carry over my save. I'm not sure yet, though.
