Yes, just install OO and be done with it. :)

If OpenOffice isn't what you need or want, try CutePDF, which works wonderfully, and is free.

Thanks. Any other recommendations besides the love for OO?

Here's a recommendation: OpenOffice.

Thanks for the recommendation. What's so good about CutePDF, if you don't mind me asking?

It is drop dead simple to install and use. All it does is setup a virtual printer that generates PDF files. If you can print it, you can turn it into a PDF, and it works from any application, not just Word or other Offices apps. I make PDF files of maps done in Campaign Cartographer, I make PDFs out of images and Excel and PowerPoint, and so on. There is minimal control over the output, but generally it does a great job of optimizing the files.

PDFCreator on Sourceforge is good. If you're running Office 2007 with Service Pack 2 however, you can save as a PDF without needing another application. If you're working in .docx, you're probably running 2007, so just update to Office 2007 SP2 and you should be fine.

Better than any of those, IMHO, is PDFCreator (http://sourceforge.net/projects/pdfcreator/). It gives a smaller PDF file than either Cute or OO. And IIRC, Cute gives you nag screens/reminders.

OO sucks ass, anyway. Free or not, it blows donkey dicks!

EDIT: Dammit, I'll never be as fast as a Wakorb! :( At least I provided a link!

Oh, and the Office Save As feature will give you a much larger PDF than PDFCreator.

I've never had a nag screen with CutePDF.

Turn on your ad blockers: http://media-convert.com/

That will do any media to anything.

I've never had a nag screen with CutePDF.
Then I did not recall correctly, or it has changed in the years since I've used it.

Corrected.

Totally agreed.
I have spent fucking countless hours fixing shit due to OO. I used to love it but now I won't even touch it.

No, civil has always been on my nerves. Everytime i read something he wrote on this forum it makes me shake my head and sigh.

I am usually the one to actually not let shit go but I am smarter than to deal with the guy.

Sadly, in my time in college so far, I'm growing to agree with Civil somewhat.

OO's not bad for a free program, but mostly it blows. I fight with it constantly, with it's obnoxious tendency to hide the things I need it to do in the last place I would look, to try and be clever and guess what I'm doing and be wrong every time, and it's godfuckingawful autocomplete features, all of which can die in a fire.

Making a simple fucking table should not take 20 goddamn minutes, but it does, because nothing that OpenOffice does makes the slightest bit of sense.

If I could afford MS Office, I would switch pretty quickly.

Bullzip PDF printer. Just press CTRL+P and be done with it. Its kinda like CutePDF, but better.

Now, let the ecock fight continue.

OT: Wasn't there a script where you could see how many people were blocking you? iHap, I'm glad I can give your neck some exercise, and I wish Olde Wolf were here to see your public denouncement of me. He'd love it. He's quite certain many people around here need a manly slap. Maybe you could form a "No civil" club.

Semi-OT: Yeah, the idea of OO is great but I have always felt more impeded by it than helped. We tried it at work for almost two years before finally giving up. It was counter-intuitive in so many ways. But as I said, the idea of it is good.

EDIT: muddi, this was never about penis size. Or was it? Remember, the power of the swing not the size of the bat!

OT: Wasn't there a script where you could see how many people were blocking you?If I remember correctly, Nick built that over at EvAv. Might want to ask him how hard it would be to port the code over here.
