It appears that invites have started to go out and I got one. Anybody else in the beta? I think the highest level character I have is either lvl 40 or 41.
i did not get one... i is sad. I may have other ways of getting in but that remains to be seen...

I have WoW and the Burning Crusade. Is it worth getting Wrath of the Lich king prior to Cataclysm?
You'll need Lich King to play Cata 81-85. if you don't care about anything higher than level 70 you don't have to.

I'd say yes. Wrath was a terrific jump forward in their gameplay design and narrative (far more than BC was).

Hmm... Well the character I played since the Alpha days is level 40 last summer... Does Lich add anything for people below 70? I'm a very slow leveler as I spend most of my time chasing butterflies in WoW. LOL!

You might be better holding off for Cataclysm, simply because a lot of the original content is being redone. The Burning Crusade stuff will still be a low point, but it should be fine if you haven't done it before. Wrath doesn't add any lower level content apart from the death knight starting area, which everyone should do once and I think you still need at least one level 55 character to create a DK.
At level 80 you can buy items that increase exp get by 20%, 25% if you get a special ring from a contest. So they made leveling a LOT easier if 80. Blizzard actually made leveling a lot easier without those bind on account heirloom items. Getting from 40-80 is like 20 maybe 30 hours of work in total. Not bad if you stick with it.

Ah, when they said you needed to have an account "in good standing" i assumed that meant active.

I just wanna see what they did to my classes!
I think Blizzard just feels I don't give them enough money. Besides WoW the only games of theirs I've ever owned are Diablo and WCII, the rest I've played on borrowed copies thanks to Blizz's previously awesome friend-friendly policies.

What are you planning to do: start from scratch, copy across one of your existing characters or copy a pregenned level 80?

I'll never get into the beta until the very end when i really don't care about it anymore. Happened in Wrath. So for you guys that are in it. I want some screenshots of the Water, some videos if possible.

I'm at the very end now... :) It is doing the beta content patch now. Also, I went ahead and purchased Lich King too since I'll have both a 40 and a 80 lvl character. Both Orc Shaman BTW... :) I'll be playing on the PvE Cataclysm beta server.

LOL! battle.net wont recognize my fucking cd keys to register my games for some reason so theres no way id get an invite...might reopen my account again soon before the beta closes in anticipation! ive been off the WOW sauce for a while now...

Hmm. I played to a level 60 Troll Shaman in the first year of WoW's release but I haven't played since then. Cataclysm is a reboot of sorts, so maybe I'll come back when its retail or something.
I believe it was the Skullcrusher server.
