Imagine you went to work one day and in the new project kick-off meeting your manager pulls out a deck of cards, splits the room into two teams, and instructs everyone to play a game that will design the project at hand. If this sounds like fun, you might consider picking up a copy of Game Seeds for your boss in this year's Secret Santa gift swap.
A collaborative effort by Utrecht School of the Arts (http://www.hku.nl/web/English.htm), Monobanda (http://www.monobanda.nl/index_en.html), and Metagama (http://metagama.com/), Game Seeds serves as fun tool to help stir some of those creative juices inside us all. The game entails 3 phases of fundamental design, starting with a few randomly selected cards that serve a base for the protagonist of the game you're designing. Each team designs a basic game around this hero. In the end you and another player pitch the two game ideas to all the players, and a winner is voted on.
