What you see above is the debut trailer for Phantasy Star Zero for the Nintendo DS. If you're a fan of this decade's crop of Phantasy Star games then you probably know what to expect: hack-and-slash goodness with lots of loot to collect. This time around you can expect to play online co-op with up to three other players.

Phantasy Star Zero is slated for release in Japan on Christmas Day, with no US release yet scheduled.

Are they planning to make this subscription based or will it be free online play?Some of the essential information on one of the available Famitsu scans for PS0 (http://img125.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=51552_ps0_122_1109lo.jpg) is really hard to read, but I'm not seeing any information about a paid subscription. My assumption would have to be that the bandwidth for online DS play is remarkably low, so a subscription shouldn't be necessary.

Fuck yes.

I keep saying that something like this should be done on the DS. Especially since Dungeon Explorer and FF:CC didn't have any lasting power.

Nintendo's architecture in WFC would probably eliminate the need to charge for online multi, I would think.

Also, GODDAMN I LOVED PSO.

PleasePleasePlease have good controls, as this.. wow.. it could just be the game my DS craves... at least until Diablo DS.

Looks good, now I noticed Gonzo has credits in there would it be for either:

1) Animation that might be in the game?
2) Perhaps an animated series done by Gonzo for Phantasy Star Zero?

Either way I'm sold on the title. I just love most things Phantasy Star. Although really I would wish they would get away from the dragon bosses.

Dammit. Now I need to get a ds again. PSO episodes one and two were some of my favorite games ever.

Still looks too anime-ish. I really hope this will be good, but I'm getting the feeling that this is just like PSU. Mags seem to be back. If that's all they're bringing back, I'm not happy about it.

This will definitely be fun. I've actually been debating signing onto that free PSO server to play the original once more, since I haven't touched it in ages. It was a fun game but somehow PSU didn't capture the magic of the first game, even though I really wanted it to.

Anyone play the PSP iteration?
