I never quick travel in Fallout 3.
Speaking of which, I really need to start the game over sometime soon. I have two weeks off after Friday, during which time I'm going to do a ton of gaming. Fallout 3 is certainly on the menu.

I quick travel if I've already been through the zone. Like, if I need to get back to Megaton to unload some of my items and I REALLY don't want to walk there for the umpteenth time.
I never quicktraveled in Oblivion either...until a certain point towards the end.. I still have a ton of area to explore in Fallout 3, and I still have two DLCs that I haven't even started.
Exploring is my favorite part of these games. I love RPGs that give so much freedom, letting you stumble upon caves and other areas and treasure hunt.

That's the best part of Fallout 3, exploring the Wasteland. You going to miss out on a lot of content if you quick travel everywhere.
I really do enjoy the scenery, and obviously there are a lot of encounters on foot. But let's say, for instance, I want to go hunt down some group of bandits but I realize I'm low on ammo. I like the convenience of being able to get right back to town to trade items without spending 20 minutes walking there, wasting even more ammo on firefights.
When I say that walking is only "kind of interesting", it is interesting - the first 2 or 3 times. Then I tend to want to get on with whatever mission I'm on.

I dunno if it's my play style or what...but I've got like 2k rounds of 5mm ammo and over 1k of 5.62mm
I fast travel all the time. But I walk all the time too. I'm constantly finding new stuff on foot, but I just don't have the time in a day to walk from Old Olney to Megaton, especially after barely surviving a Deathclaw feeding frenzy :)

Yep, that's how I play to. I like to explore a lot, but I LOVE fast travel after I've gotten there and need to go back.

The best is when you're over encumbered up to your eyeballs in loot and you have to slowly walk to your house because you don't want to let go of anything. That's when I grab a severed leg, load it up and drag it around. Good times. There's a military base somewhere, I forget, that's chock full of awesome loot. I took everything that wasn't nailed down and then walked the entire way back to Megaton. :D

LOL
Do what I do: find some out of the way location enemies and NPCs wouldn't be likely to move to, and dump what you can do without should it go missing and run to your home. Dump off enough, fast travel back :p
I ALWAYS tried to make sure I was packing light whenever I went somewhere new, because I am such a damn packrat in these games. On a lark I took everything I collected out of my containers at home.
I weighed over 2k pounds :p

I weighed over 2k pounds :pHehe. Yeah I just fill a file cabinet or desk wherever I'm encumbered, fast travel home, come back and load the rest up. I haven't lost anything like that yet. The severed leg trick is hilarious though. It's like a gruesome backpack.

I'm the same way. I will hit Q and slowly steer myself back to town rather than dropping any of my precious loot.
I'm a hoarder in every game I play. I will often finish a game still in possession of items I accumulated early on, especially potions and the like.

That's why I always take Repair as a Tag skill. Once you've levelled a few times and put more points into Repair, defuse the Megaton nuke and use the home as storage for everything.
I really do wish someone would port/re-create the Bag of Holding mod from Oblivion.

I had 30 points into explosives and defused it as soon as I got to Megaton. Was I lucky? I thought there would be some mini-game like the lockpicking one (I did not like that one) but it just told me I had done it, hurray!

I hoard consumables. I hate limited use items, I always worry that I'm not going to have them when I need them, so I finish almost any game with loads of potions/scrolls/grenades/special ammo/whatever.

Same, OCD collecting comes naturally to me, I must have one of everything.
It's painful even using stimpaks, though I usually have over 200.
Same with games and mana, won't cast a spell until I absolutely have to, by then it's too late.

Ditto. I also love it in FO3 since I bring all that crap back to my house. It's filled with mementos of the wasteland.

That's exactly how I am. No wonder my (real) apartment is a cluttered mess, although in that case it's mostly papers.
I am also an OCD collector. I even got a backpack mod that gives you up to 70 extra weight points. I try to bring back as much as possible, makes repairing that much easier(repair mods ftw!)

Sooooooooooooooo Dues Ex made me revisit this... and.... I think I'm starting to see the light. Problem is, my version isn't running very stable and I'm wondering if there's some prefered drivers out there I'm not aware of. Thoughts?

I found the game completely unstable when in the DLC. Out of it things seemed to be fine.
