From the official forums (http://frozenbyte.com/board/viewtopic.php?p=10943#p10943) comes the good word: Trine 2 is in development and coming to PC... in addition to "any other platforms", so unlike the ill-fated, planned-only Xbox 360 port of the first Trine game, it may be a possibility that the game may come to more than just the PSN, given that the game has seen enough success to justify a sequel. Rock Paper Shotgun (http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2010/06/14/trine-2-confirmed-for-pc/)also adds what I wanted to say:

And I suppose what makes me most pleased is that the existence of sequel means that enough of you lot bought the original for it to have been a success. Good news, I think.

Looks like all those Steam weekend sales weren't for nothing.

fkin docfngr! fk u nd ur frmal englsh. http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=deffo

Edit: Does this really count as E3 related? I mean I know the game is going to be at the Expo and all, but this tidbit came from the forum rather than the E3 buzz sources.

Haha, that cover looks so serious considering the first game!

So I guess I need to beat the first now? Damn it.

How long does it take to beat?

This is great news! Woohoo!

Does anyone know how Atlus got involved with the sequel? Also, have they published on the PC before? I wonder if this will be a Steam exclusive, like the first game.

There is a really good article on the original trine on gamasutra (http://www.gamasutra.com/view/feature/5826/postmortem_frozenbytes_trine.php) talking about the the various publishing and developing hurtles. One on the comments is interesting and probably why the next trine is coming out on PC:
Trine is making profit, it surpassed the break-even point a while ago. This is in many ways thanks to Steam where we self-published Trine.
It also discusses why PSN and not XBLA - to summarize: their publisher felt that is XBLA was too competitive. The whole article is very interesting.

Thanks for the link to that article. Great read. Looks like they are doing a code rewrite of their engine so online multiplayer might be a good possibility for Trine 2.
