How do I monitor my video card temps? I installed SpeedFan, and it's giving me good readings for my 4 cores, but I don't know how to get readings for my video card.

I've got an Nvidia 8800 GTS, but their control panel doesn't seem to have a temp readout.

I'm beginning to think temps are a problem with this computer - although why Far Cry 2 would push it over the edge when Crysis never did is beyond me.

Grab ntune. Should come with nvidia monitor that will show you all of that and it tracks it so you can look back at it.

GPU-z is great and light-weight software.

No offense to Smoof, but I would HIGHLY recommend against nTune. Spend 5 minutes of research on Google and you can see all the horror stories for yourself.

Use RivaTuner (http://www.guru3d.com/index.php?page=rivatuner). Best overclocking / temp monitor out there IMO.

EDIT: If you are having temperature problems now with Far Cry 2 but you didn't before with Crysis, you might want to physically look at the card and see if you have a lot of dust buildup.

Also, check this (http://userwww.sfsu.edu/~douglee/8800GTS/8800GTS.htm) guide out for redoing your thermal paste job. My temps dropped (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=58144) about 25 degrees Celsius after doing this to my 8800GT.

Inspector, shoot me a pm or email and I will send you a program for GPU and CPU and motherboard/hd/whatever you want. Running to class now, but will get it to you tonight if I remember / if you email me.

Well, according to GPU-z, my GPU temps don't even hit 80C when the thing crashes. My CPU core temps top out at around 54-55C. That doesn't seem excessive to me.

I just vacuumed out all the dust a little while ago, but it can't hurt to check. My PS3 is updating right now- I want to get my R2 beta key put in, and then I'll shut this beast down to do a dust/fan operation check.

It's worth noting that this case has a big hole in the front - it came with a slot for another fan but no fan there. Not really optimal for airflow.

I've said it in the Far Crash thread, but it's worth pointing out that I have nothing overclocked, so that is not a worry. Everything is running at its stock clock speed/voltage/etc.

What exactly is wrong with ntune? I'm pretty lazy and don't plan to look up and issues with it myself, because frankly, I haven't had any issues. I've been using it for years now to overclock on both my main gaming PC and my laptop without any issues.

Personally my biggest issue with it is that it hogs way more resources than it should while it runs. I expect my temp monitor programs to be light, easy to use and straight to the point. Ntune doesn't do any of those.

I saw the posts about overclocking and was interested. I went to guru3d and downloaded ATI Tools. However, I have no clue what any of the values mean and don't want to destroy my card. Does anyone know of a good guide?

There was another issue with nTune...I remember it being all over the forums a couple of years ago...

If I recall correctly, nTune in combo with NVidia board drivers = problems with networking? It's been a while, but I seem to recall that was the issue I was having...it's just bloatware that sticks its tendrils into areas where it doesn't belong.
