September 21. You may want to inform family, friends, coworkers and loved ones of the date. Because if you're anything like me from that day forward you'll likely be trapped in a never ending cycle of just. one. more. turn. Because that's the day 2K Games and Firaxis unleash Civilization V upon the world. Firaxis has built a new graphical engine and implemented a number of major changes to the game. Most prominently the combat will be changed drastically with the new limits of one military unit per hex (that's right: hex. No more squares) and the expansion of ranged units. Each civilization also gets more unique bonuses this time around.

Now I know what date to book time off work from. I really can't wait. I'm still playing Civ 4, so I dread to think what Civ 5 will do to me, because I'm really loving the sound of all the changes they are making.

By the way it is actually September 21st in the US, September 24th for other locations. I feel sickness coming on that week :)

The official site (http://www.civilization5.com/) has been updated, and has a list of all the civs in the game, including leaders, special abilities, and special units/buildings. You also get a taste of leader animations/voices for some of the civs in the list.

*sniff*

I'll miss my friends and family. And eating. And sleeping.

I can't wait! Between this and Elemental a month earlier, I won't see the sun for weeks.

Sounds about right! Might be months for me...

I should get in a ton of Eschalon, Fallout 3, and Batman: AA now, before they are buried in an avalanche of strategy goodness.
