I don't like it.
Why don't I like it? I have no idea, but it just doesn't have that same kind of charm that STALKER did. I've played through STALKER roughly five times now and loved it every time, even when I died a lot. But Clear Sky is just pissing me off...I tend to die constantly, I never found any better armor than some shit some STALKERS gave me before I entered...Red Forest, I think. I have no artifacts for my suit either.
I just seem to get blasted at every corner and for some reason, the linearity and game design are just pissing me off. I'm going through the hospital area just after Limanske and all I can say is, "Really? C'mon." considering I'm just going through corridor after corridor and as soon as I enter, I can tell I'm going to be jumped and out numbered and will end-up replaying the scene fifteen times before I get it satisfactory (where I'm not bleeding to death by the end).
I have no idea what it is, but I loved the original so much. Clear Sky is just pissing me the fuck off and I'm ready to give it up for good.

In some ways I agree....something about the original has been lost. I stopped playing it and moved on to playing Far Cry 2

I put it down as well. I figure maybe I'll come back to it in a slower month and when they have a few more mods and perhaps another patch.

i agree it's not as good as stalker but it's still awesome... but then again i had to stop playing for a bit and i've yet to go back to it and there's so many new games that i realy want to play that i'm likely to move on to them as fun new things always trump going back... that said i will go back and finish it and hopeful enjoy the end as much as the rest of it

It'll be epic once it's properly modded. Otherwise I say save your money and buy a new suit. Join Duty, sell the one they give you and buy the Duty Armor.
That's what I did...then I made a fatal mistake the PERMANENTLY ended my game, forcing me to start a new one...which has pissed me off quite royally.
So yeah, there are some things about this game that are seriously not cool. But I still liked it alot. The difficulty is more intense, but I like that...On veteran the game is just obnoxiously hard as you bleed too long and bandages are as rare and you often need to use two of them to stop the bleeding...it is an epically aggravating thing to barley be knicked by enemy fire and have to use like fucking two medkits just because none of your recent victims you have managed to slay had....absolutely nothing helpful on their bodies. Say...like a bandage. Which begs the question..why the hell wouldn't a medkit stop bleeding on it's own? That's just RETARDED!
But on regular difficulty the game is perfectly fine and enjoyable as it always had been.

I've been playing on Vet and this seems to be the problem. Rare bandages and they do nothing to stop my bleeding when I'm just barely hit by a stray bullet from miles away.

I am playing on master and it does seem more difficult then master on the regular Stalker, but I like it. I enjoy my games difficult though. The fighting with allies more often I really enjoy and although only a few hours in I am really enjoying so far. I like to play in small spurts and WAR is taking a lot of my playing time up.
As for Far Cry 2, saying this here as at least one person mentioned it, I have to say and I know people won't like this but I think it suffers from some consolitis. No lean, that is just crazy. It also feels to walled in with cliffs almost everywhere, I just don't feel like I am in Africa, I figured the game would be mostly open plains but that could just be wrong expectations on my part.
I also do not like that basically every single person fires at you instantly, how come in the opening sequence we could drive through stuff? Maybe I misunderstood but I didn't think open warfare was in effect I thought there was a ceasefire in place. The respawn rate is also ridicules, how do they get more men to a checkpoint in like 15 minutes of game time, it should of been set for at least a day or something of game time before more people are at locations.
Well sorry for the derail I guess I should of put this in a Far Cry 2 thread.

The game is very unforgiving, seemingly even more than the original. The first game provided you regular, affordable armor upgrades.
In this one I've only found a few upgrades and not only can I not afford them I cannot even afford to repair the piece of shit armor I'm currently wearing.
You really have to play Clear Sky in a certain specific fashion to succeed whereas in the original you had many more options for enjoyable progression.
I still like it and will get back to it before too long. Got distracted by Mercs2(great fun), FC2(beautiful yet shallow), Warhead(great singleplayer campaign) and Dead Space(mostly excellent on hard).
