Resistance 2 Beta Co-Op Impressions and Video

The Resistance 2 multiplayer beta is underway, and lucky for us - it has co-op! Co-Optimus dives head first into the game's 8 player co-op mode and gives you the skinny (http://www.co-optimus.com/preview/91/Resistance_2_Co-Op_Hands_On_Preview_and_Video.html) on the Chimera slaying.


The biggest draw of the cooperative mode is the persistent character classes that last from mission to mission. With every bullet penetration of a baddie, you'll be rewarded with experience points. Heal a friend? XP. Supply ammo? XP. Block shots? XP. The more XP you get, the more you can level up and unlock weapons and abilities for your character. There's something incredibly addictive about seeing the experience text coming off enemies while shooting them. And really, it's the only way you know you are hitting them.

Yeah, picking up from BF2142 and CoD4. It certainly is addicting...and looks it. The first game was very mediocre to me...but I just really want to try the multiplayer.

What he mentions about the monsters taking an insane amount of damage is just. It does make for some good times as a medic though.

I mean, I understand why they did it. With 8 guys it would be silly to have them drop with one shot. On the other hand, I think it's a bit extreme in the other direction right now.

They've probably got some balancing to do. That being said, I didn't really notice that problem. Some mobs took longer to take down, sure, but it wasn't that bad for the normal enemies.

The game is exactly what I wanted it to be, though the level in the beta is a bit more cramped than I'd like. I do wonder how many different areas there will be in the final game.

If you can manage headshots they go down much quicker. The normal enemies I mean, the bosses are total pains in the ass.

Honestly, I'm enjoying the R2 beta a lot more than CoD5.

Nope. Type 2. Resistance 2 is the ONLY game I can't join.

I like it too. It would be dumb if you all could kill them in 10 seconds.

I enjoyed the beta a lot....Now I'm interested in picking up R2.

Joining games is a bit of a hassle, but the overall feel of the game is top-notch. I enjoyed the intense battles.

9.5 is great, but they gave the first one a 9.1 or "Outstanding" (the game is not outstanding). But still, I'd assume they'd make some huge improvements over the first...at least I hope.
