This week’s weekday thread theme: The WeekDAY: The Musical:

The Party's Over, it's time to call it a day.
They've burst your pretty balloon and taken the moon away.

It's time to wind up the masquerade.
Just make your mind up the piper must be paid.

The Party's Over. The candles flicker and dim.
You danced and dreamed through the night,
it seemed to be right just being with him.

Now you must wake up, all dreams must end.
Take off your make up, The Party's Over.
It's all over, my friend.

Singing in the new week, off key or on, a different kind of party begins, the weekday kind.

Well if I’m singing it’s of the blues kind. Not enough time in my weekend to play the great games that were holding my attention this weekend:

Red Dead REDEMPTION- GTA:Western it might be to some but what I am feeling is R* honing their skills for the next GTA whenever that is. The two DLC plus this game I see so much potential. Now if they can finally push the narrative envelope…which is what I’m hoping…but RDR is just plain awesome.

Alan Wake- Taking a break from RDR, this game too deserves to be played. Creepy, mysterious and with combat that doesn’t seem to suck…yet.

Eschalon Book I- Continuing on my quest to play and finish this game for the Gnome. I’m hooked on this game as much as I am with the others I’ve played this weekend.

Lost- No not the game. The actual show. The ending was so good I have to mention it here. Especially there was one scene near the end of the episode that I keep thinking about and it's still making me teary eyed. Now i'm just waiting for Spiggles analysis of the last show/six seasons.

Sing it loud, sing it proudly. What did YOU play…what will YOU play?

For me, it's all about Red Dead Redemption and Super Mario Galaxy 2. I really doubt that we're going to see better games this year. Kind of sad now that Lost is over; the ending was okay, but unsatisfying in a lot of ways, and more than that, it was a fun experience watching the show every week whether or not we got real answers in the end. I'm left with nothing to watch now but Doctor Who and Stargate Universe!

Last night I was restless as my subconscious was stuck editing the ending over and over again in my dreams.

EDIT: Dammit, don't make sequels with the same abbreviation as the original!

For me, it's all about Red Dead Revolver

I think you're talking about another game boys!:D

Damn I still have to see ep 14 of Lost so I might just save em up and go for the whole run.

I'll be playing RDR and maybe some UC2 MP, GoW collection.

Still have a day off wheeeeeee.

I beat 3D Dot Game Heroes over the weekend. I messed around with a second playthrough a little. I have a feeling I won't get very far, since Mario Galaxy 2 will be showing up on my doorstep in a day or two. I'm a little jealous seeing people talk about it already (and seeing it for sale at Wal Mart last night), but having the $20 credit from amazon helps to smooth that over.

Doh! Thanks for the catch. That's what I get for trying to type this up during the Lost recap. So much for looking at it this a.m. for a fast look see. Well RDR was a good game anyway. I should play it again to see if I can get further.

Gamestop is giving a $20 next game coupon too. I was tempted because ADDGirl now mentions she wants to play it. I don't have the Wii hooked up since my tv only has two components. One is being used for my cable box. Boo. I need to stop being lazy and buy a cheap HDMI cable for the cable box instead freeing up for the Wii to be back on my TV.

The way everyone's been talking, it's one of the best Mario games to come out in a while. You'd probably kick yourself for not buying it if you miss the $20 coupon thing and the price goes to $50 and stays there for years (as first party Nintendo games like to do).

I'm on the final stone mission (64) in FFXIII. Grinding a bit on secondary roles then I'll go after him. After that I need to 5 star about 9 earlier missions then I'm done.

I plan on playing God of War 3 Thursday.

Dodging evl cougar ninjas in RDR.

Had a stretch where I was riding along and got jumped by one, it killed my horse before I killed it. Then I whistle for another horse and just as I jump on it, bam, it's dead already by another cougar attack.

Nerf cougars!

Do I need the new motion plus dongle? Or we can use the old wiimote? I have credit left on my Edge card and I don't think there is anything until July that i'm buying. You don't praise games lightly and what you do i've played and deserved your praise. I think i'll go after work to grab a copy.

I don't think i'm in far enough yet to see the ninja cougars. Although i've seen some other odd stuff going on as I wandered around a bit. I can't wait for the ninja cougars.

I plan on continuing with FFXI, my Red Mage hit 72 on Saturday so I'm close to hitting the level cap. I'd like to hit 75, max out my xp, then get some merits before the level cap raise happens in mid June. I need to work on getting another 3 levels on my Ninja subjob at the very least, and maybe start working on Dark Knight as another optional sub for RDM.

I need to get in more 3D Dot Game Heroes as well, I'm only about 6 hours in, I've been too busy to get much time with it.

I'd love to pick up Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Hexyz Force this week, but I just don't have the funds for them right now, which sucks. My birthday is on Thursday (the big 3-0) so maybe I'll be able to get one of them after that (most likely SMG2), but I have no idea.

I'm going to watch all of Season 6 of Lost, since I still haven't seen the finale.

Play some more Alan Wake, Nightmare difficulty and finish it up. Wanna do a second play of Bioshock 2 so I can put it to bed (evil playthrough), and maybe some FF13 because I want to try the harder side missions now I've 'finished' it, and because I enjoy misery.

Then I have Dragon Age's expansion content (all of it) to go through, and ME2 second playthrough will all the expansion content.

Then I might get bored, cave and buy something new.... if I can decide what.

Oh, forgot about my Steam Backlog as well, and want to get some SCII in.

I also need to build 2 walls, tile a bathroom, install a steam room, power show, toilet and sink.

How long can you go without sleep?

I think I heard someone saying you didn't need it. Which is good, since I keep forgetting that such a thing even exists. I'm curious what will happen if and when I finally buy a game that needs it.

Whooo! Enjoy it. Ever since turning 30, I can't seem to remember how old I am. I've had to ask someone my age several times in the past few months (I'm 31...I think).

I had that happen to me the first time I ran into a cougar. The second time, I heard it and went into dead eye and shot it before it could kill the horse.

I'll be playing RDR this week and maybe I'll get the new expansion for Dragon Age towards the weekend. Or perhaps some Uncharted 2 or Valkyria Chronicles if I get bored with RDR.

30? HAHAHAHAHAHA!!

I'll be there soon enough. :/

As for what I'm playing:

Eschalon: Book Two - The adventure continues through the land of Mistfell. I killed a giant weed that had taken root in the ruins of a bath house. I made it to Port Kuudad and was told that I couldn't enter without papers proving my citizenship - apparently Port Kuudad is in Arizona! I decided to wander around the world for a while. That was fun until I encountered a gang of nasty giant salamanders that sent me packing.

Again - The plot thickens.

Sins of a Solar Empire/Rise of Nations/Dwarf Fortress - The strategy bug has been sneaking back into my brain, demanding that I satisfy it. One of these games will soon return to my gaming plate, lest I anger the strategy gods.

Like many people Red Dead Redemption will be my game choice of the week. I made it to Mexico this morning and already saved a few folks and killed a bunch of wolves. Where are they all coming from? Every time I move I hear wolves running up behind me.

I have yet to play any multiplayer. I would like to finish up the story before doing so because I know once I start playing online I will never make it back to single player.

Come Tuesday evening, I'll be back in the Old West with Red Dead Redemption. I'm almost 30 hours in and almost to Mexico (yes, I play the sidegames and focus a bit too much on challenges). I also want to spend some more quality time with the multiplayer - I haven't played since the most recent hotfix on Friday, so I'm hoping the disconnect and invisibility issues have been remedied.

I also have Alan Wake sitting here and I'd love to bite into a tasty story, but it may not get any play until later in the week. Maybe I'll do like someone else here on CoG who said they've been playing an episode/chapter a day? That seems like a fun idea given the 'episodic TV' style format of the narrative.

Had a busy but surprisingly game-filled weekend. Finale of Lost aside, here's what I got in:

Alan Wake (360) - Fired this up on Saturday, played through the entire first episode and love what I've seen so far. I played a little bit of Episode 2 last night but given that I didn't start until almost midnight, I gave up after a bit.

Trauma Team (Wii) - I've played as 5 of the 6 different doctors. I still haven't tried the first responder but she's popped up in a couple of the other stories so far and seems REALLY ANNOYING!

Split/Second (PS3) - I've made it to... Episode 7, I think... Fun times.

Miles Edgeworth: Foolish Fool Who Dresses Foolishly (DS) - I'm so, so close to finishing the 4th investigation. I just need not to play it after 1am when I have to worry about accidentally clicking through conversations.

I, for one, am happy that Lost and 24 are finally finishing up. I was very satisfied with the ending of Lost but want to dig into the analysis. I've tried to avoid the over-the-top analysis of the show during the last 6 seasons and now that people don't have to draw pointless conjecture about where they THINK it's going, the analysis will be something I'd enjoy looking at.

I will be playing more Civ4. I am almost finished up with my first playthrough. It seems most of the world hates me, but I am so advanced that they can't do anything. I haven't made it to the other island in the game, but I haven't seen nukes go off in the game either and I may just have to remedy both of those things at once.

I may also run down the street and bang on avakus's door until he lets me borrow one of the recent AAA games I have missed. My backlog isn't keeping my interest, so that would fix things.

I spent most of the weekend playing Alan Wake so I didn't make much progress with other games.

Red Dead Redemption - I should probably focus on completing more missions so that I can unlock new areas. I also need to find a higher stakes poker game so I can make some more cash. I wanted to try Liar's Dice but sadly no one was at the table when I went.

Split/Second - I finished getting all the online trophies on Friday, so now I just need to earn enough season credits to unlock the Episode 11 elite race and then finish Episode 12. Then I'll go back and see how annoying it'll be to try to finish first in all the races.

I received Assassin's Creed II and GRAW today from Goozex, but I'll be continuing to play the awesome Infamous and they'll go on the shelf. Still on the first island but I'm doing most every side mission. It's just pure fun.

And Demon's Souls, though that will be on the back burner for a bit unfortunately.

Killzone 2 and Sacred 2 are on their way from Goozex as well. I'm cleaning up apparently! I still have thousands of points to spend, so more games are in my future.

I am taking Friday off, so I'll have a 4 day weekend. I'll probably use some of that time for gaming, though lately it seems like I'm playing games mostly after the wife and kid have gone to bed. Both are too NEEDY.

Case in point: I'm off to mow the lawn right now because it allows me to escape for an hour. Yes that's right, I actually look for chores to do for escapism.

Do the intro/outros to each 'episode' almost blow out your speakers because they're so much louder than the game proper? It's the only game I have that has such unbalanced audio in that regard. The game sounds fine during the actual gameplay parts and I can crank it up but if I finish an Episode or start a new one, it almost bursts my eardrum.

I want to complain about the Lost finale because it felt like a half cop-out but I can't. Every time I think I need something answered I think the events through and usually come up with a plausible explanation. If nothing else, they answered most of the bigger questions and left enough of the smaller ones open for viewers to come to their own conclusions. It is definately not the best finale I've ever seen, that's for sure. Several other shows wrapped themselves up in a more satisfying way than Lost did. That said, given how spectacularly they could have fallen on their faces with how convoluted everything had become over the years, I was happy with the way it went down.

I'm both more curious and more ambivalent about 24's finale tonight. If I hadn't heard that they want to have a 24 movie eventually, I think they could really just go whole-hog with having crazy Jack Bauer go crazy and die in a hail of bullets. I figure that things will end a lot more tamely than it would if there were no further plans post-show.

But that's a show I basically watch out of habit so I'll be happy to finally clear my plate. The more shows wrap up, the more time I'll have to play games :)

I mowed the lawn today. Last week when I started my mower a damn mouse jumped out and ran off in the grass. I actually had to keep chasing the mouse to scare him down into the back brush as he just kept stopping and hiding his head in the grass like an ostrich. I was able to get him out of harms way.

Today when I started the mower I gave it a few shakes to alert any mice (it's in the shed, so I'm not surprised there's a mouse there) and then I started mowing. About 10 seconds into it I notice a mouse on top of the mower bouncing around from the vibration. He was like a piece of popcorn. I stopped and let him get off and he ran and dug his head in the grass again. I tried to scare him away but he wouldn't move. He was breathing really heavy and I kept mowing, leaving him be.

I had to stop the mower a few minutes later and went back to check on him. He was dead. I took a garden utensil and checked him over. I couldn't find any blade marks on him whatsoever. I did see a tiny piece cut from the tip of his tail, but it seemed more like he either had a heart attack or had internal injuries. My sister in law pulled in the drive and asked what I was doing and she checked him out too. It was weird. I thought he would have had a slash somewhere from the blade, but nothing.

I dug a small hole and buried him behind the shed. My wife yelled to me a bit later and said she found another dead mouse in front of the house, a victim of one of our cats. We just got our female fixed and she just started going outside this past weekend, so I think it might be her. Our male hasn't brought home any treats in the year that we've been here.

When my wife found out I had buried the mice she made fun of me. What else am I going to do with them? Burying them recycles them back to the earth. I didn't want to just throw them into the woods.

I always use those "have a heart" mousetraps and put them outside. Even then I feel guilty because the mice is always sweating and shaking with its little eyes dilated by the time you discover it in the trap. One time, I didn't check the trap for a day or two and found a dead mouse inside it. I felt bad about that for a good while.

In terms of gaming, I'll mostly be playing Mario Galaxy 2, which I'm in love with at 21 stars. I also picked up Alan Wake today. I justfied it to myself because my health has been deterorating the last week and I bought it to cheer myself up, but I also decided to sell Red Dead on Half.com since I've pretty much determined that it's not a game for me.

I have a large one for bigger animals. I haven't used it yet. I don't know if I will

We have at least one groundhog living under the shed. He's outside the window right now chewing on grass. We've spooked each other before because he has a long tunnel underground that comes out under a treestump on a hill. It looks like he has tunneled under the shed and chewed through the floor. I was planning on catching him but I don't think I have the heart to relocate him now. He's just a fixture and is pretty harmless. The shed floor needs to be replaced anyway.

He came outside his house the other day while I was dumping grass clippings into the compost. I snickered at him to come closer and he did. I was poised to make a break for it if he came any closer. He's pretty darn big.

I saw my cat chase him into a brush pile one day. That groundhog is about twice the size of my stupid cat.

Ok, you asked for it. I have cut and pasted this. I can't wait for winter now :D

If he's that big imagine how large his underground home is? He probably has a giant flatscreen with all three consoles and cable TV!

Don't let the cats find out, or they might move down there with him.

Could be worse, all you could find is mousy sweetbreads. :p

The last mouse I saw, I beat it to death with a rake, then pitched behind the back fence.

If one of his buddies had been nearby, I would have told him "tell the others what you saw here."

This is why I like having a cat, vermin don't die quickly.

Nah, I've been absent for a couple of weeks. I've had some serious issues going on in my personal life so I've had to put gaming (and forum posting) on the back burner. Great acronyms. They also make great games too :). RDR is a time sink. I don't know if you like doing side stuff, especially the inane side stuff that R* seems to build into their games but in RDR they really have reached a point of ridiculousness. That's a good thing. Well if you like that stuff... If you play multi-player i'll look for you around the weekend. Maybe we can join National Kato's posse and cause some trouble.

I'm sorry to hear about your personal life issues. That is always a downer. I hope that stuff gets resolved in the best way possible. Glad you plan on sticking your head in here here and there. You were missed.

And EG...hope your health gets better. Let us know if you need the blood of a Gnome to heal or something. Even better if it has to be done by a spider bite

As for my own gaming...RDR has it's hooks in me bad. I mean real bad. I'm searching the dessert for rabbits and wolves at the moment to work on some silly rewards. It makes traveling through the desert much more palable as you go to the next mission stop. I'm liking the strangers missions in the game. A twist on an old standby is definitely working for me. The small things I can do, quite mindlessly makes this game an easy choice. I thought about Alan Wake but my brain just couldn't commit to something that complex. AW might be saved for the weekend slot, when i'm not so wiped from work.

@Mags: Do you know of a map for the world of Eschalon book 1? I want to wander out of the dark tower and make my way to the real objective of where i'm suppose to go.

I was just reading about an upcoming XBL game that consists of up to four players playing as wizards. I know Spiggles is someone who likes playing as a wizard. I usually play a magick character. I'm hoping Mr. Gnome, if I send you some MS points you will play. I think it's being released in the fall but I thought it would be fun running around as wizards with you guys in a game.

I've been thinking about this. I've posted more than once about my hatred of the collectibles sprinkled in open world games. I haven't felt hardly any of that while playing RDR. That's not to say there isn't plenty to hunt for and collect, but it's done in a mostly organic, intelligent way so that I don't notice it as much. It's one aspect that feels like a next step in the evolution of open-world.

Count me in on the posse action.

I've got a Gamefly coupon about to expire. Problem is all the console games I really want to own, I do. But there's some good prices on there right now, and a discount coupon code adds up to an even better buy. So of these top 6, which would you buy?

Being able to replay one of my favourite games on my phone whenever/wherever I am is what makes me froth at the mouth at the idea of the first one being on the iPhone. One of my goals over the next year or two is to play through all of the Ace Attorney games back-to-back and it would be very much easier to do this on the iPhone. And I don't have to worry about wearing out my DS cartridge of the original :)

Of course, what I would REALLY like for them to do is make new cases for the series as DLC to either the Wiiware or iPhone versions.

I'm with you guys as far as collectibles go. I usually look for a few of them but once it starts to lose its charm and turns into a frustrating stumble through the woods, I give up and focus on the main story.

What I've played of RDR has had a very different feel to it in terms of the collectibles. Probably because it's not just a matter of finding 300 pigeons or some such. There's a reason why you'd be interested in shooting the odd owl or skinning a horse given the world you're in.

Let me know when you do that. Whenever I play a new Ace Attorney game, I always have the desire to play through all the others again. That would be a good reason for me to do so.

As for collectibles, I think you'll enjoy the ones in Alan Wake. Although it kinda sucks that I missed one or two chests, four manuscript pages, one radio station, and one sign without using a guide. So close. It would almost have been better for me to have missed a lot more of them so I wouldn't regret somehow letting one pass me by. :p

I'm not big on collectables unless it is an RPG. Then I can drive myself nuts at times. I'm learning to just go with the flow of games rather than starting over and over and over again because I missed something. It's a good thing I'm not like that in real life. RDR is my coming to gripes with it kind of game. I'm not going to start over because my horse died before I got to 20 missions or anything like that. I am doing some of the side stuff because they add a few perks and they sort of give me a break from just running down the main story. Some of the "stranger missions" are kind of fun. If I run into anything as frustrating as killing the cougars with a knife again I may be done with side missions.

Also, Chuck was awesome tonight!

Thanks for the well wishes. I'm not sure what it is, I had similar symptoms crop up last year. Pains in my extremities (fingers and toes), long lasting dull headaches, re-occuring dull ache in my lower right back, traveling pains in my stomach, legs etc. and extreme loss of energy so bad it is difficult to stand or hold my hand steady without it shaking. It seems much worse at night and in the early morning. Last night I hardly slept because of the pain in my lower right back.

After spending literally thousands of dollars on tests last year (some of which I'm still paying off), I had to stop pursuing a medical answer. Last summer, I cut out alcohol, caffeine, red meat, and started jogging five miles a day and by the end of a month, I felt a lot better. I kept that up for five months and started to slack on some of that stuff. The symptoms stayed away, though, until a few weeks ago. I had been drinking more often than was probably healthy the last couple of weeks of the semester due to the stress and eating way more unhealthily. I'm not sure if the symptoms disappearing last summer when I started taking better care of myself was just a coincidence, a placebo effect, or a legitimate remedy, but I'm trying the same thing again to see if they go away again. In week two of going "straight edge." So far it hasn't gotten much better, though. At least, having experienced it previously, it's not as scary. Last year, I was pretty convinced I had some horrific terminal illness that was going to kill me rapidly. Now it is still frightening, but a bit easier to keep those thoughts at bay.

As far as games go, I got another 16 stars in Mario Galaxy. Despite what I said in the "Cracked" article thread, I have to admit that Mario Galaxy 2 makes an awesome argument for a game that reaches a higher form not by engaging in any of those more "sophisticated means," but is still an incredibly accomplishment. It may not be "deep" in terms of dealing with cultural, ethical, or psychological issues, but it makes an amazing argument for games being art just by the sheer beauty of their design construction.

The level design in Galaxy 2 is absolutely awe inspiring and it has to be the happiest game I've ever played. It also looks absolutely gorgeous. I don't think I've played a game on the 360 or PS3 that I would say looks better. It just shows how much good art design can triumph technical capabilities. Had it not been for its daily use as an Animal Crossing player, I probably would have sold the Wii years ago. I'm glad I didn't as this game easily justifies having one around. I really don't think it would be hyperbole to say it is one of most, if not the most, well designed games I have ever played. In fact, the only reason I really stop playing is that it is on living room TV where the satellite and Animal Crossing playing occurs and I don't want to hog the TV day and night.

When I was a teenager with a lot more time, no collectable in games would escape me. Even every coin in a Mario Bros game. I even got the "star" on the title screen of Super Mario World 2 for 100% in every level. I got all the stars in Mario 64 on three separate occasions (twice on the N64 and once on the DS). However, I have become extremely lax in my interest in collectables as time has gone on. If it is something overwhelming, like the pigeons in the vast city of GTA or the thousands of flags in Assassin's Creed, I don't even bother. I'll still grab the ones along the way, but I won't go out of my way to scour for them unless i really like the game. Then I might go back after I finish it and finish the hunt.

On a whole, though, there are far too many good games to play these days to spend a lot of time doing mundane collect-a-thons. Running around collecting stuff in even the best game is not nearly as interesting as the main narrative in even a mediocre game. So, I've let my perfectionism die.

One very important lesson I learned last year is to stay the hell away from medical websites. Nothing good comes of them as many of the symptoms are pretty much the same regardless of the underlying cause. You will be convinced you have something terrible every time. It feeds hypochondria and only makes things worse.

Hey there, fellow Split/Second player. I have a question for you.

Sorry for the delay, but I finally unlocked the last episode. The voiceover was noticeably louder, but other than that nothing seemed too bad. I can't remember if the previous episodes were any different since this one didn't have many extra sound effects. I don't remember it standing out until you asked about it though, so I guess it couldn't have been too much of a problem for me.

The big pyrotechnics company in our state is training technicians on this weekend so the owner asked the town in which I work if it's okay to throw a show for everone. We'll go there, as last year it was amazing and I'm not that big on fireworks. My wife wants to bring my son to test him on it, see if he gets scared or not. I hope the sounds don't give him brain damage, but since he's my boy he probably is already doomed. :)

He withstood a concert a couple weekends ago at a benefit that was very loud. But these are big bangs, so who knows.

I got my tooth repaired at the dentist yesterday and his mother had an appointment afterwards for a cleaning so I sat outside on the grass with him and watched vehicles go by. At dinner I quizzed him and asked if he could say "Car" and he said, "Cah". He also tried to say truck--"Trr", but we have to be careful with that one because it sounds like a bad word. And since he's such a sponge lately I need to tone down my OWN language else I create a monster.

It's just so cute watching him play with his toys. He'll take vehicles and drive them up walls, floors and on the stairs and make noises with them. And when he spots a dog he'll shout DOG or DOGDOG! I think we'll wind up getting a puppy in the near future, which should make him very happy.

I'm putting off having another surgery until at least January because of the high deductible plan I took this year. I couldn't afford NOT to with my son on my plan.

It was just frustrating and emotionally draining because I had two MRIs (one with dye contrast), an endoscopy, a colonoscopy, and numerous blood tests and none of them found anything other than I had slightly high cholesterol (heart disease is pretty pronounced in my family with two grandfathers dying in their late fifties/early sixties of it). Not only are you spending a ton of money and waiting for the shoe to drop, but you also begin to think you are just crazy. The symptoms certainly are real whether they are subconsciously psychosomatically induced or whatever. But since I've been through it before, I'm not as eager to run back to another battery of tests. I no longer think I'm going to die tomorrow, but the back pain (right about where my kidney is) is a new one, so that one does kind of worry me. If it doesn't get better by the end of the month with my new health regime, I'll probably make another appointment.

Meanwhile, most of the people qualify for Medicaid, especially children, here in my state and use the facilities for damn ear everything mundane. My tax dollars pay for their care, but I can't afford to seek care myself and I HAVE insurance.

Well, we could have ALL had Medicaid. That was exactly what one of the proposals in congress for health care reform entailed. But you know, that would have been socialism: better dead than red, a motto that will, unfortunately, end up being literalized for many in this case. What we ended up with is certainly better than what it was, however. Even though I never found the answer to my problem, I saw first hand how quickly a financially responsible person could be completely ruined. I almost was and that was just from tests. At least now people won't be able to be dropped or have rates raised beyond their capacity to pay for them. Still it's pretty ridiculous that the wealthiest country in the world can't provide basic healthcare for its citizens. We have no problem socializing mail, schools, roads, water, parks, and other services, but somehow keeping people alive and healthy is a lower priority than all of those.

On a lighter note, due to my health related insomnia, I spent several hours last night from 2AM-4AM playing Mario Galaxy 2. I'm now up to 45 stars and still continue to be impressed by what is some of the best level design in any game I've ever played.

Well, I hope you feel better.

And there is no better way to organize people against a cause than to instill fear in them. This is why education is such an important thing for our country. Though education doesn't fully cure ignorance, it can go a long way. People were afraid of losing their Medicare (a socialized plan, ironically enough) and having taxes go through the roof.

I would gladly take a tax increase if it meant knowing I was covered medically. It would actually be cheaper for me to have an extra couple thousand dollars in taxes each year. No more premiums, dedutibles, copays or coinsurance. We'd be paying more to access the system that we already pay for, but at least we'd get to use it.

If only it were as simple as stamping a form and proclaiming free healthcare for everyone. But, this isn't the place for such discussion.

I can see the end of RDR's missions off in the distance, and it makes me sad. I'm one challenge away from completing them all and unlocking the Legend outfit. I guess I'll have to farm in multiplayer after that.

There's always Alan Wake. Not that I'm not looking forward to playing through it, but I mainly added it because I knew it was a high profile release and many people would be playing. Gamer's burden, if you will. My own personal desire to experience it falls short of the fervor I felt for RDR.

My Gamefly queque is empty for the first time in quite a while, which is a bit depressing. However, it will give me a chance to go back and revisit some favorite standby games. I guess it's also just a week before Alpha Protocol, too.

Some of the surgeries and such are pretty fast but the diagnoses and forensic investigations are quite long and involved and satisfying.

I still love the ninja colonoscopies. The doctor who hates patients is also quite a hoot.

Oh, and I finally finished the 4th investigation in Miles Edgeworth. Phew!

I was up to 50 stars in Galaxy 2 when we had a brown out. After the quick surge, my Wii wouldn't power back on. Checked the 360 and the same problem (even though it wasn't even turned on). Both of them were on a surge protector too. The good news is that the 360 works fine when I hook it up with the power cord from my other 360. So perhaps if I get a replacement power cord for the Wii the same thing will happen. My local Best Buy has them in stock for $32. Seems a little steep, but better than replacing the whole thing. Heading up there now. Hope it works.

Ok Mags, I'm lost in Eschalon Book 1. I should have videoed what was going on in the dark tower. I ran into so zombie looking creatures (I think they were thugs) who I knew I couldn't defeat so I just ran. Ok, walked real fast...well in my mind I was...sort of like running in your dreams...you wish to move faster but you can't. So I had this long conga line of thugs "chasing" me. It would of been funny if it wasn't I was trying to stay alive and get out wherever I was going. I never seen enemies follow me so long. They wouldn't leave me alone! I finally was able to ditch them all then another enemy found me. I just gave up. I'm going to start over since I think I know what i'm doing in the game. Although this time i'm going to do less exploring. At least get to the second town before I go get lost anywhere else.

If only it were as simple as stamping a form and proclaiming free healthcare for everyone.

I agree. Despite the fact (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_health_care) that almost every other 1st world country provides it, the political environment here makes its ideal implementation impossible to achieve. Since the stakes (http://prescriptions.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/02/26/deaths-rising-due-to-lack-of-insurance-study-finds/) are so high, it is ashame. But at least in a couple of years everyone will have some kind of coverage now and there won't be dropped coverage. I recall an interview that Obama did with, I believe it ws Jonathan Alter, the week after his election where he mentioned that everybody in the adminitstration asked him to not try to do healthcare reform since both they and he knew that his popularity would plummet (as it did). But he told Alter this and he was willing to be a one term president to get it done. I imagine his own situation with his mother's cancer and insurance battle had to feed into that, but I still gained a sort of respect for the political courage. What was accomplished wasn't enough and a lot of concessions were made to the healthcare industry, but it was still a big step that nobody before him ever managed to get done.

But, this isn't the place for such discussion.

That's right, this is the thread were we talk about gardening, what we are having for dinner, pest control, and health ailments. What was I thinking. :p

My Gamefly queque is empty for the first time in quite a while, which is a bit depressing. However, it will give me a chance to go back and revisit some favorite standby games. I guess it's also just a week before Alpha Protocol, too.

I'm in the same situition. And it makes me feel stupid for buying all the games I did in the last two weeks. Since I bought Galaxy 2, Alan Wake, and Red Dead, there is nothing to put on my GF for a couple of weeks. Alpha Protocol is the next one on my list as well. I heard an interview with the developer that made it sound really compelling, but then again that is there job. I'll have to pay attention to reviews as it gets closer to see if it is even worth a rent. Sega's track record is not so hot these days...

Yeah, I thought it was weird too and it was even hooked up to a surge protector.

But strange enough, before I left for town, I tried plugging it up one more time and it worked. Even though I had already tried it in a completely different room on a different outlet and checked the fuse box (the TV was on the same circuit so I knew it wasn't the fuse anyway). Very weird, but I'm happy to have it working again without having to shell out some extra cash. Interestingly, had this happened to my Wii four months ago, I probably wouldn't have bothered, but I am so enthused with Mario Galaxy 2 that I probably would have had to find some way to scrounge up the money to replace it immediately even if I had to sell most of my current game collection. Thankfully, though, it didn't come to that.

Now to start preparing dinner. Tofu Chop Suey with bell peppers, onions, and baby bok choy. Then back for more Galaxy 2. I love summer break.

Spent most of my morning playing Trauma Team before coming into this vortex of chaos that I call work. I'm absolutely loving Trauma Team so far.

The co-op is sadly no longer simultaneous, but rather, alternate. I understand why they did this - so they wouldn't have to scale the difficulty of the missions to suit one player alone or two simultaneously. They put some thought into how and when to hand over controls from one party to the other, though.

It still feels like a cooperative effort. You're basically playing for ten seconds, and then watching and guiding your partner for the next ten. So it's hard to say it doesn't work.

Very weird, but I'm happy to have it working again without having to shell out some extra cash.

Nintendo hardware is as close as it comes to tanks. If you ever see those ridiculous durability tests they do on X-Play and such, Nintendo systems can survive attempts to flush them down toilets. Just let them dry on their own for three days, and then try to turn them on again.

Mario Galaxy 2 is best game I've played since Metroid Prime. I don't want to jinx it, but it is shaping up to be the one of the best ever.

This is why I've got my TV and consoles hooked up to a UPS with voltage regulation. I'm half convinced the problems with my PS3 were exacerbated by voltage issues. For instance, every time I turn on the PS3 followed by the TV, the UPS will beep, telling me that it is giving me a little added protection.

Barely resisted just breaking my Demons Souls disc in two. Beat the first boss but now I'm getting nowhere. I keep getting 2 shotted by most of the monsters and parrying is laughably hard. Controls still feel really awkward, I'm not able to get used to locking on at all.

Maggie, I always prefer the cold to the heat because it's much easier to warm up than cool down. Plus I'm Canadian with Russian and Scandinavian blood pumping through my veins, so it's no wonder I like the cold :)

I've always said the same, although I hate winter here with a passion. Summer isn't always this bad. It's the humidity that really kills me. Still, it is much easier to stay warm in the winter than it is to stay cool in the summer, especially since I don't have AC.

Santa, I'll have you know that yesterday was a true scorcher. The high was 95 degrees, the hottest temperature ever recorded for May 24th in the Twin Cities. The previous record was 88 degrees (a 7 degree difference!) in 1875.

Think about that for a moment.

What game is that?

I'm sorry to hear you're having problems. How early into the game are you? The black tower shouldn't be explored until somewhat later in the game, if I recall correctly. I found a map here (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/3/36/Eschalon_Book_One_Map.JPG), does that help?

Now to start preparing dinner. Tofu Chop Suey with bell peppers, onions, and baby bok choy.

That sounds wonderful. I stopped by the co-op today to pick up a few grocery items and decided to grab lunch from the deli as well. I got a delicious tempeh stroganoff (simply amazing!) with roasted vegetables that I mixed in and strawberry shortcake for dessert. It's too hot in my apartment to cook anything, so I foresee a lot of salads and fruit in my future.

Sorry to hear it's frustrating you so much. Many people argue that it's much more important to perfect your dodging than blocking. The first area in 1-1, the bridge, is a fairly good place to practice that stuff.

And many people find it easier to jump to world 2 rather than continuing in world 1.

Spigot

Blocking and dodging is one thing. Doing a parry in Demon's Souls is a whole other kettle of fish and I wouldn't bother doing it if you don't feel comfortable with it. Just block the snot out of things.

I managed to resist the siren's call of Mario Galaxy 2. I had no interest in it whatsoever until everyone started proclaiming it the next best thing to perpetual orgasms. That said, I realized that if I had that, I'd have to call the doctor, so back to Trauma Team I will go and I'll resist Galaxy 2 for a while longer.

Speaking of Trauma Team, I was trying to explain it to my friendly local not-EB shopkeep and he kept looking at me like I was explaining how to properly prepare a baby sandwich (http://axecop.com/index.php/acask/read/ask_axe_cop_33/)...

1. Don't bother parrying in Demon's Souls. You can always practice later, when you are stronger and repeat level 1-1 or something. I never use parry. Block and dodge are much more important.

2. EG ate a baby bok choy. An infant bok choy. That's like eating veal you heartless bastard.

3. I played a bunch of Infamous tonight after my bratty child fell asleep. The heat is horrid--up in the 90s today--so it looks like the ACs are going in. Got the bedroom one in upstairs as the upstairs is a damn sauna in the summer. It's going to cool off this weekend so maybe I can get the living room one in. What I hate about the ACs running is I can't hear the birds chirping through the open windows. Because, you know, all the windows are CLOSED and the ACs are humming away. Oh well, it will make the wife and baby more comfortable.

4. Oh yeah, Infamous. Still an amazingly fun game. It's my type of sandbox gameplay. Crackdown meets...well, some kind of super hero game I guess. I'm sure some people would get bored with the gameplay eventually but I always have fun leaping around the city and climbing buildings and zapping enemies and causing chaos during big battles in the streets.

I am 81% with freeing the Neon district. One area I can't free up until I do some story missions I'm guessing. Meet Kessler in the last comic-book scene. This game has a pretty unique story, and I'm really digging it. This is a case of me ignoring a game for far too long. I should just shell out full price or near enough for some games because of their sheer quality instead of waiting so long. It's not always price, but the fact I'm usually wrapped up in a zillion other games. I set games aside for Infamous and I'm glad I did. If it had come out this year it would be my game of the year thus far. So far it's my favorite that I have played this year anyway.

Unfortunately I can't put in an AC in this place, as the windows are old and can't support it. It's been so hot in my apartment that I can't really do much of anything other than lay on my bed and watch movies.

Thankfully it started raining a while ago and the temperature dropped from 88 to 72 degrees. I have all the windows open now, and I'm hoping it cools off even more tonight. It's supposed to be in the upper 80s-low 90s all week.

There's quite a storm going on outside. The lightning flashes are huge, and the thunder is so loud that it's been shaking my apartment.

Another night of RDR. Kel, whenever you decide to cave and buy it (maybe after inFamous) you won't be sorry. I keep thinking of you since i'm doing all these odd side missions and come across some even odder "hidden" missions. I know you love the side stuff and there is a ton of it with each new side mission more fun that the last. Okay, kids, here's what happens with the Wii when you have a brownout:

A breaker - either one internal to the Wii or in the power cable, trips.

To fix it? Unplug the Wii's cable from the wall for about 10 minutes. Plug it back in. The magic LED should come back on.

It is my own adapted recipe. I start by chopping g the vegetables juilien style and putting 2 tablespoons of cold sesame oil in a hot wok. Wait for it to start smoking and toss in the vegetables with a couple cloves of minced garlic. Drizzle in soy sauce gradually while cooking for about 3-4 minutes on high. Then I set them aside.

Rinse the wok and put a few cups of peanut or canola oil (enough to deep fried the tofu in). Dry then block of tofu with paper towels and cut it in about 1" squares blotting off the excess water. Mix tofu in a bowl with a table spoon of soy sauce and let it marinate while the oil heats. Deep fry tofu until golden brown and drain on paper towel.

Rinse wok again. In a bowl mix the following:

3 tablespoons of soy sauce
2 table spoons of sake (or dry sherry)
2 teaspoons corn starch
2 teaspoon sesame oil
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon vinegar

(This is a basic dark sauce often used in chinese cooking. If you ever want to make beef and broccoli or other stir fries with dark sauce you can use this same ratio)

Heat sauce in wok until it thickens (about 30 seconds) and stir back in the vegetables and tofu and one final clove of minced garlic (optional teaspoon of chili sambal if you like it spicy as i do). Cook 1 minute then serve over white rice.

I don't know if I'd give up trying to get a medical answer, EG. Medical bills can kill you, but not knowing can be even worse. I know your dilemma however. I'm putting off having another surgery until at least January because of the high deductible plan I took this year. I couldn't afford NOT to with my son on my plan. Meanwhile, most of the people qualify for Medicaid, especially children, here in my state and use the facilities for damn ear everything mundane. My tax dollars pay for their care, but I can't afford to seek care myself and I HAVE insurance.

I am in the same boat as you guys with health concerns. In the last three months I have noticed my hands beginning to shake. It started very very small an occasional twitch. Now, painting, or putting together a model or a motherboard is impossible(the small screws) my fingers flip the fuck out and moving the mouse to fix a correction in a post can sometimes make my hand just jerk across the mousepad. Sigh. I was hoping it was stress but a couple other things are making me think it isn't.
But I beat cancer three times, and that damn cluster headache, so I can beat pretty much anything that doesn't involve a space vehicle landing on my face.
But like everyone else it's the bills that scare me more:(

Wow Karak. I can't imagine the emotional stress of dealing with reoccurring cancer like that. That is often the biggest fear I have with symptoms such as these and of course every online medical site will tell you every symptom you have is a sign of cancer.

I had very similar loss of motor control last year and after a ton of test, I found the one thing that helped was giving up alcohol, eating more healthily and jogging every day. I was amazed by how much I improved within a month.

Like I said, I'm trying the same thing again. Haven't had anything to drink in two weeks and started jogging again this week. Yesterday was pretty rough as I had a headache most of the day and such muscle weakness it was hard to type and required concentration to walk. Today was far better in that regard. Really just some minor finger and foot pain and a slight headache today. Hopefully it is a sign of improvement.

Ya cancer is the great equalizer both in its symptoms and how it can bring you low. I fought it when I had a damn near impenetrable confidence in my life. For some strange reason I do not feel fated to pass away from cancer nor have I ever felt that. Strangely it seems more like a vague ailment to me after 3 times.

As for the motor control. Sadly I do all the things you indicate, I run, work out, watch my diet for the most part and am allergic to alcohol. In addition the sneaky way this cropped up and the random emotional episodes that occur are a sign sadly of a particular brain disease which doesn't bode well.
We will see. I suppose its just stupid to not go, well obviously, but my families' history and particular signs point to something I am most likely NOT prepared to deal with.

Well, I doubt either of us are going anywhere anytime soon. You really can be your own worst enemy in these sorts of situitions as I'm sure you know. For example, when I had my motor control problems, I recalled that I had an aunt that died by 40 of Multiple Sclerosis and it was all I could think about since the starting symptoms are similar and it generally onsets at around 30. But I had two brain MRIs six months apart (one with dye contrast) that showed nothing abnormal. It turns out there are alot of other far more common neuropathy syndromes and abnormalities that are a lot more minor than MS. Many, many people have these sorts of symptoms that come and go without explanation, so you can't always assume that it's some terrible terminal disease.

My wok is my favorite kitchen device. I got it from here (http://www.wokshop.com/HTML/products/woks/wok-wood-handles.html). That's not my exact wok since I bought it about five years ago but its the closest model they currently carry. It's a great, cheap wok when you add a fire ring. I seasoned it myself and after using it for years, it now has a beautiful patina with lots of flavor cooked in. It's my go-to device for cooking just about anything. But really, the most important thing is that the wok is not stainless steel or electric. Those things just don't get hot enough. It helps if you have gas stove rather than eletric, but a good steel wok will be so hot within 40 seconds of turning it on that anything you put in it will sizzle upon contact.

Thanks for the link. I do in fact have a gas stove in my apartment. I recently fell in love with a cast iron skillet, and I've been using it quite a bit, as I noted in a previous thread. A wok has long been on my list of desired cooking utensils, but for whatever reason I find them somewhat intimidating. Properly prepared Asian-style cuisine is simple and very healthy, so I really need to make more of it.

Damn guys. I hope you all are ok. Seriously.

After watching Glee I fired up a little more RDR. I'm still in Mexico and am getting tired of it. I haven't bothered with a lot of the side stuff in Mexico for some reason but some of the story missions are pretty awesome.

I keep running into glitches. One of the few side missions I've completed in Mexico I got to free two Eva's for the price of one because a twin spawned. I also had a spot where the train disappeared and nothing but floating cargo and boxes appeared over the track. This game is twisted enough without throwing ghost trains at me.

Iron skillet is my other favorite cooking method. That and a wok is almost all you need to cook anything. Much more economical and less scary Than those expensive chemical infused "non-stick" pans.

All you have to do to season a wok well is coat it in oil with a paper towel, bake it for 30 minutes, let it cool, scrub it vigorously and repeat oil and baking 3 or 4 more times until you have a nice coat that isn't easily coming off. Eventually, it will gain an even better patina as you use it and even add it's own flavor to your food. You generally don't want to wash it with soap, just rinse it well in hot water and dry it. For the first couple of months, I also put a light coat of oil on it after I rinsed it every time to help the patina develop and to prevent rusting.

The best thing about a wok, though, outside of the fact that they get really hot really fast, is that you really can't even scratch it or screw it up. Worse comes to worse (even if it rusts) you just scrub it thoroughly and start seasoning it again. They last a lifetime and will become your best friend; no need to be intimidated.

And Mags, you can't buy an AC frame/brace/holder or whatever they're called? That might help.

When I lived on the third and second floors of apartments in the past I was always nervous about putting ACs in the windows with just the window holding them because there were sidwalks far below and I didn't want to commit manslaughter. Putting them in was nerve-wracking. It's not so bad in our own house, where the only thing we can hurt is the AC and the ground outside. No human deaths or injuries unless injure ourselves. :)

I just read online that "Gigawatt Blades" are a superpower that can be downloaded for free for Infamous, previously a preorder only incentive. I need to download it from PSN tonight.

I'm also still tweaking our newer tv to look the best possible. I realized the settings I was given on AVSforum were too high in contrast. The problem is I can't find exact settings because the 47" and 52" seem to be different completely in terms of settings.

I never could get the Gigawatt Blades to work back when I played inFamous originally. I got it as a preorder bonus and supposedly had it installed and everything, but I don't recall ever seeing an option that would let me enable it.

No biggie. The game rocked anyway.

I wonder if it'll be upgradeable or require XP to even unlock once you download it. Doesn't really matter either way.

It has really shaped up to be one of my favorite open-world games of this generation thus far. It makes something like the Saboteur look downright boring by comparison, and I LOVE open world/sandbox games. Infamous is much more focused than other games of it's type and is better for it.

As for the AC, I suppose I could rig some sort of thing to hold it into the window, but honestly I'm not going to bother. I know that sounds lazy, but a decent AC is over $150+, so it's not something I want to risk breaking, or worse messing up the window frame and being charged for it when I move out. I went outside and walked around, and I didn't see any AC units in the other windows, so apparently I'm not alone.

Keep in mind my building is over 100 years old and contains the original windows. All they've done is add little storm windows on the outside.

You may want to reconsider. According to this website www.babybokchoyismurder.com they describe the cruel conditions the boks have to endure before ultimately being killed in an inhumane manner. And according to Amnesty International's findings (www.AmnestyInternational.com/bokchoycrisis) in 2004, the following is true.

"1 in 4 Baby Bok Choys purchased in grocery stores had experienced some sort of physical, sexual or psychological abuse by their captors."

An undercover operation in 2009 (http://peta/don'teatbok.com)revealed that bok farmers were raiding the bok pens and taking their offspring while they slept, causing a lot of boks to become mournful and restless and eventually aggressive, leading to them having to euthanize many adult boks that had their children stolen from them.

A lot of this stuff is still going on and there's a good chance that the bok you are eating has undergone terrible conditions on its way to your plate. I don't eat veal for this reason, and so I can't eat baby boks either.

Do you mean "Level 2 spell" as in a second tier spell (such as fireball) or do you mean that you only have the spell powered up to the second level?

I'm still using Fire Dart in Book Two, but thankfully I can power it up to level six. Still, I need to get some better spells, as I'm starting to encounter much stronger enemies, like the deadly shadow assassins.

Most vegans avoid honey. It's actually a pretty big debate in the vegan community, but most come down on the side of not eating it, at least from my experience. The same goes for using products that contain beeswax.

One of my favorite Asian restaurants has an entire dish that consists of around 15 or so baby bok choy arranged in a circle and covered with a white sauce. The death and sexual abuse is evident, and it is so delicious. I can feel them tremble as I grip their tender flesh with my chopsticks, and as I suck them into my gaping maw I can almost hear their cries of despair.

I revel in the cruelty.

Also, in regard to the very first scene of the game:

I hit 100% in the Neon district last night, at least in liberating all the areas of the Reapers. I still have story missions to do, but all side missions are complete. I'm almost ready to move onto the next island. I've had some crazy "Oh snap!" battles in the street. One time this reaper was about to throw a grenade and I tried to "sonic burst" him (or whatever it's called) but since I was too far away it only shook him a bit and made him drop the grenade. A car came speeding by between us, the grenade blew up, the car got hit with splash damage and sent it flying into a pile of other parked cars, exploding some of them, and when the smoke cleared the reaper was dead.

Some of the battles are really fun and frantic, especially against the stronger enemies like conduits. The game tried to set itself on HARD mode after evaulating my playing but I knocked it back down to Normal. It can still get tough, however, even with maxed out damage resistance ability. I just didn't want it to be too frustrating.

Started up Alan Wake last night for the first two Episodes. I'm liking what I've played thus far, although the writing is a bit hamfisted. I know what tone and style Remedy is aping, just as they did with Max Payne, but it's a bit much and I think it takes away from the voice. If the style was less satire - at least, that's what I take from the amateur metaphors sprinkled a bit too liberally - the game would be scarier. Instead, I find myself rolling my eyes a lot this early in the game. But the end of Episode 2 had a nice twist and I'm very interested to see where this goes.

I plan on playing an Episode a night for the next few days to give it a serialized feel. Plus, Red Dead Redemption still has its hooks deep in me, so I don't like to waste too much time playing other games. I've been starting to spend my early evenings in the multiplayer portion of the game and having a lot of fun.

So you are going to show him how to really "work" the night shift? :DYup. I should have him do all the cleaning and paperwork while I sit and watch slasher movies until dawn.

Sounds like Mr. Spigot will be spending the night with a man. Ha, surprise surprise!

Hey Spiggles didn't specify gender! It could be a cute goth/punk gurl with some tasteful face stubs, flower tats, and daddy issues that leave her with an interest in older men! :D
We're talking about Spigot here. It's a man.Kel is right. Not that I'd be anything but a professional and a gentleman were the new hire of the female persuasion, but like most of Kel's fantasies, it's all dudes, all the time.

You know you're getting up there when you're referred to as part of the group "older men". :pHey, I didn't even notice that. I'm not an 'older man'. I'm a veritable spring chicken compared to some of the old fogeys around these parts!

Woo. Made it past the old coot in Trauma Team. It was one of those obvious clues that is incredibly easy to overlook if you are checking the wrong place :P

I've spent all day (since I woke up at 11) surfing the web.

Business as usual at Gnome Manor. :p

I've been married to gamefly since 2004. Now THAT is commitment :)

I love GameFly but I've been neglecting my PC games because of it. I think I may bump us down to the one disc level. I'm hoping we both can pull through these trials and keep our relationship steady.

You might not be top dog old fogey but I believe you are in the top 5. Although with Bad Buddha on his hiatus, I wear the crown proudly of "get off my lawn"

Since your web surfing is legendary, what are your top 20 sites you visit consistenly (Besides CoG). I'm always looking for other places to roam...with the Gnome :D

I really don't visit that many sites on a regular basis. Most of them you probably already go to or are not interested. Here are the sites I visit most often:

COG
Gmail
Facebook
DList (Facebook for gay dudes)
OkCupid
Wikipedia
Netflix
Hulu
Youtube

There are some random blogs and other sites that I check from time to time, but the above sites are the ones I frequent most often.

Hmmm...you certainly surf for a long time with so few sites. I knew about DList (Kel introduced me :D) and OKCupid gets lots of talk around CoG. I need to use Hulu more but the few times I tried with this laptop it sputters, coughs, wheezes making it not worth it.

I also IM with friends, although most of my time is probably spent on COG.

Kel told you about DList? Interesting...

You got issues, Xydarc.

Anyway, I'm playing some Tiger Woods (I'm getting better at it!), Red Dead, and Fallout 3 GOTY. I'm kind of just shuffling between them, changing games at my whim.

I also wanna play God of War 3, since I stopped right after I beat Hades. I might just go do that.

I'm at 91 stars in Galaxy 2. At this point I feel I can confidently say this is the best platformer I've ever played. The more you play it the more accustomed you become to the controls and realize how pitch perfect the mechanics are. And the game's challenge ramps up to where I'm doing things effortlessly that would be frustrating in lesser games. There are more cool ideas in single levels than other games have in their entirety.

I'd love to play Galaxy 2 sometime. I used to love platformers.

After well over a year of badgering, I finally joined the COG group for several rounds of Team Fortress 2 tonight. What a blast! I have Fridays off all summer, so I'll definitely be doing this on a regular basis.

I took some great screenshots that I'll edit in shortly.

Edit - Oh, and congrats on 3,000 posts Xydarc. I almost remember that milestone... :p

Bit the bullet and bought Batman from Gamefly. Cost me $12 with my coupon that was going to expire tomorrow. Don't know that I'll be playing through it again immediately, but Batman's worth it. :)

$12 for that game is a steal. Well worth it.

Xydarc, I'm ashamed of you.

There is a distinct lack of vegetables in those pics...

Well, I've got about 6.5 hours left of my overnight shift. Sigh. I think I've expended all of the oxygen in the house talking to the new guy about how work works. Time to go fire up a movie or something.

Only 3 and a bit hours left until I can return to the sweet embrace of my bed. In Bruges was surprisingly good!

Now to write a memo and then maybe watch Cold Souls and play a bit of Picross 3D or Miles Edgeworth until the sun comes up. Zzzzz....
